I didn't see that one coming.

That happened quickly. He was just dianosed, like, 3 weeks ago.

Unfortunately lung cancer comes on you quick and not caught until you're close to the end.

Although there was definitely a financial incentive to write his SBTB book, maybe some Inner Voice / Gut Instinct told him to write it. "You can't write it when you're dead, so get your opinion out now."

At least we have his perspective about what it was like to be the Geek among the self-proclaimed "cool" kids. I glanced through his book when it was published. I searched the index for Hayley Mills -- he had only wonderful words of praise for her. So he wasn't a "total jerk" towards everyone. For those who were unaware, SBTB had its genesis in Good Morning, Miss Bliss; Mills was the teacher (and presumably the main character until the kids' characters took over).

Too bad he didn't try more (or was unable) to get a job and life that were completely away from Screech / SBTB. As far as Hollywood was concerned, Dustin Diamond was going to stay "Screech" the same way Carl Switzer was going to be "Alfalfa".

    Way too young. RIP Dustin.

That's what I wondered too. I looked it up and they said he never smoked. On the biopic of SBTB the guy playing Screech smoked pot.

Some people, including my husband, think smoking pot is healthier than smoking legal cigarettes because the tobacco is "different." Uhhhhh. That is just insane for obvious reasons.

It can be more healthy than cigarettes but there is always that rare chance, but I read that he had a lump in his neck that he didn't get checked and so I am guessing that lump was where the cancer started then spread to the lungs.

A reminder to everyone, go to a doctor if you see or feel something unusual. It could save your life.

The last time I took a puff of high quality pot, my throat and lungs felt like fire. Never did it again. It's legal here, but never again because that sucked. I saw my doctor afterward and told her how that felt. She had my lungs, throat, and everything in between tested after that. Clean as a whistle, and a constant 98 to 99% oxygen level even after hospitalization for viral pneumonia four years ago.

The thread not being about me, the point is I think he knew and didn't care. If a person cares, he or she seeks out a professional when in pain or a physical abnormality occurs.

How was he doing financially? Some people pretend there is no problem because they know they can not afford treatment and just hope for the best.

Yeah, but that's because he had mental and addiction problems that he didn't address properly. I feel badly for people when that happens, yet he had choices.

He had choices not available to others but there are many that do not have those choices. I understand the thought of hoping it will all be OK as opposed to facing bankruptcy or begging for funds because you got sick.

Especially if you have a history of cancer in the family like he did yet for some reason he seemed to think the cause was dingy sheets from all the hotels he had stayed in over the years. He had a sore throat for a long time and seemingly the lump was so big that the doctor knew it was cancer before they even tested it so he must have had it quite a while but was seemingly scared to get it checked as he was worried that he would be ridiculed like he usually was by public.

There seemed to be conflicting reports about him participating in the reboot of the show as there was seemingly a bit of bad blood between him and the rest of the cast thanks to him going through a stage of telling all about what happened BTS when he needed money a few years back and bringing out a book where he scorched earth but did later admit it was mostly embellished. Because of this, someone decided he was the only one not coming back as even Lark Voohries (Lisa) even got a cameo.

Has anyone watched the New Saved By the Bell on the Peacock network? Just curious because I would like to see what it is like, but I have no idea how to get the Peacock network. If you have watched it, did they give an explanation where Screech was?

You can watch Peacock free or open up everything for $4.99 per month. I would imagine the new SBTB is on the premium option. https://www.peacocktv.com/?cid=20200...&gclsrc=3p.ds&

Haven't seen it myself. I watched the original with my nieces and nephews before they went to catch the bus to school every morning or I wouldn't have watched it at all, though I have enjoyed some of the actors' later roles in movies and TV shows.

    Here's a trailor.
