I have special DEEP feelings for Cookie Monster. My husband does an awesome imitation of him. (probably why in part I married him.) I also love Monsterpiece Theatre. COOOKIE!
HAH That is really cute.
I never watched sesame street as a child. We didnt even had a tv back in those days. I started to catch parts of sesame street in the early 90s when my firstborn was a baby.
Cookie monster has lot of character and I guess I would say that was one or my favorites.

Man these were the days
My Mom used to make me show off to all her friends by reciting a Sesame Street skit I had learned from memory off the show...
And yes...I can still do most of it...
Ernie walks into an ice cream parlor and requests a:
"Chocolate strawberry peach vanilla pistachio butterscotch ice cream cone..."
I've probably forgotten some over the years, but I had the whole thing on LOCK as a kid! LOL!
LOL thats funny Pands.
Gotta shre this, on limewire I just downloaded the Ladybug Picnic song. Classic.
AH! I guess 20-something years can take away the memory more than I thought! LMAO!
It's chocolate, strawberry, peach, vanilla, banana, pistachio, peppermint, lemon orange, butterscotch ice cream cone!

Watch out John Travolta!
I grew up outside of Springfield Massachusetts where Sesame Street was filmed, I got to meet the whole cast, I was very young so it was like meeting royalty!!! My favorite skit was the guy who fell down the stairs with a certain no. of pies, I always though what a waste of pies!!!!! A good friend of mine went out with the daughter of the guy who plays Big Bird!, he always bragged that he fucked Big Birds daughter!
Nessa remember this one? lol Its the first one i thought of!
The pearly white teeth shark!

Those were great, I'd forgotten about the Mad Painter and the numbers songs!
I read somewhere that Michael Stipe was more nervous about doing that than nearly anything else. In an interview I read he said, "I was really excited about it. [The lyrics] are brilliant. The monsters get really happy and then they get really sad and then they get happy. And, presumably, I'm going to be happy and sad with them, singing along. You know how the Muppets flop when they're not happy? I can't wait for that."
LOL not everyone can claim that!
Beat ya to it, sister! That one is a personal favorite!

OMG!! This thread is bringing back so many memories!! all of the videos are awesome!! I forgot about the Shark and his Pearly Whites until I saw it again!! Loved it as a kid!!
Let's go back to our childhoods, and think about all the Sesame Street moments. I'm 18, and I loooooooooooved Sesame Street as a kid. In fact, I still kind of do in some ways. Were there any moments that scared you? I know there were a lot that scared me. I sometimes wouldn't want to watch Sesame Street because I was scared a certain episode would be on (I did this for other shows too). Share your most frightening Sesame Street moments, and post clips if you can find them. Here are some of the moments that scared me.
The I-Beam-Apparently many others were scared of this too.

Finally, this is one I have not seen, because it aired long before I was born. Margaret "Wicked Witch of the West" Hamilton appeared on Sesame Street in her witch persona. Apparently, this scared many kids, and it was never aired again. Couldn't find any clips, but here's a newspaper article

Sesame Street Rumors: Ignited after Bert's Gay 'Mo' Tweet on Twitter?
Sesame Street rumors of Bert coming out of the closet are swirling after Bert took to Sesame Street’s official Twitter page and tweeted about being “more mo!” Mo is short for Homo! Could there really be something to the rumors or are people reading way too much into Bert’s little tweet?
Even though Bert’s tweet was sent back in June, it’s just now making the major rounds on the Internet. Talk about being slow! Some people are claiming that the now infamous Sesame Street tweet was a “coded message” since it was sent during Gay Pride Month. But is there any truth to the Sesame Street rumors?
Bert’s actual tweet sent from the official Sesame Street Twitter account was about Mr.T’s Mohawk(9:56 AM Jun 11th via web Retweeted by 100+ people) and it said, “Bert: Ever notice how similar my hair is to Mr. T’s? The only difference is mine is a little more ‘mo,’ a little less ‘hawk.’”
So uh, wow! Let’s just say that after all this time and all these speculations, it would be nice for Sesame Street to come out and officially address the ongoing rumors about Bert and Ernie’s sexuality. However, it’s unlikely that will happen since Sesame Street is a very G-rated show and let’s face facts, Bert and Ernie are puppets! They don’t have the woo-haas to do this or that and for goodness sake just let them be!
I shall die, but that is all that I shall do for Death; I am not on his pay-roll.
Edna St. Vincent Millay
Yeah speaking of Sesame street deaths i never see Herbert Birdsfoot or the Amazing Mumford anymore I think they died!
I saw the title of this thread and thought Grover must have gone postal.
This is weird, seeing this thread pop up tonigt -- I was just talking to my dad a few hours ago about the shows I watched as a kid, and how I think it's a shame my niece and nephew don't watch Sesame Street, because of how educational it is and how much I remember learning from it. But I'm also a big Muppets, Jim Henson, and Frank Oz fan anyway. I'm a little too young to remember the Mr. Hooper death. I'll have to watch that clip...
My boss goes to youtube and plays mahnahmahna whenever he thinks we're stressing. I love the muppets.
Unfortunately I can't get my nephews interested in anything past Elmo. I bought them a super grover doll for Christmas and all they do is use it as a projectile. I loved Sesame street.
I sooooo remember David! I had no idea he died so young. :-(
Also, I think I remember the "David loves Maria" heart as a part of the set back in the 70's. It seems like it was maybe engraved in a tree or something and every now and again they would pan by it and it was visible.
Sad news about Kermit and Miss Piggy.
Hope Bert and Ernie are still together.
Carolyn(1958-2009) always in my heart.
I saw that Caroll Spinney I am Big Bird documentary, really touching.
