I think that is the reason Nick married Lisa Marie; i bet he was thinking, wow, i'm marrying Elvis' daughter and i'll be privy to all kinds of private stuff. Anyhoo, he is one of my fave actors....anybody think it was a trip that Kurt Russell played the king in that movie Elvis back in 79 i think it was and then he plays an Elvis impersonator years later in 3000 Miles To Graceland?

I agree this is a good DVD, but the only Presley actually in there is Lisa Marie and Elvis' one cousin. Most of the DVD is Priscilla and her family.. and I do know Priscilla was a Presley by marriage. I wish they would put something out with more of his "family" members in it. Would love to hear what Billy Smith has to say about all that has gone on since his Elvis' passing.

Didn't the local medical examiner in Memphis claim Elvis died of a heart attack despite the overwhelming evidence of drug abuse? I heard some of Elvis's friends and hired hands insisted Elvis did not die from drugs and continued to portray him as the clean-living Christian entertainer who opposed drug abuse. What's the story there?

Yeah it was a big coverup!! Hell during the autopsy they knew something was wrong! But they wanted to keep the clean Christian image.

Like they said he was reading a bible when he croaked...NO he was reading some astrology sex porno book!!!

I think Heraldo Rivera is really the one that blew the lid off this!!!

I agree. The "coverup" is purely commercially motivated I think, although surely by now it's in vain. But for the family to now permit autopsy notes and conclusions to be made public would be admission of their little coverup which, they may think, would be bad for business.

What still bugs me is the five hour time period before the cops were notified, not to mention Linda (reportedly) being dressed with full make up and hair in order when the cops arrived. Makes me think Linda, Vernon et al spent some of that time "setting the scene" they way they wanted it to appear, whatever that may have been, but they obviously knew better than or weren't concerned disturbing the body, or possibly doing some CYA due to a criminal cause to E's heart failure?

Just spit balling here, but that five hour window is the most curious to me of the whole event, especially if no claim has ever been made on E's life insurance.

It wasn't Linda...it was that young girl he was with Ginger Alden. The one that sued Elvis's estate after he died for the swimming pool for her mother that Elvis promised her. What a tool!

I wasn't sure if it was Ginger or Linda so I settled on Linda for no reason...in any event a change of actress in the play.

Yes, it was Ginger Alden that was with him. Personally, I don't think she loved Elvis. She loved the name, the fame and the money. She moved on VERY quickly after his death.

It's really no big deal because the fact is something was fishy. I just think Ginger is a huge TOOL. She was totally in it for herself and not into him (unlike Linda).
Here is a link of an interview with Ginger http://www.essentialelvis.com/Interv...ingerAlden.htm
Elvis was to blame for hooking up with her.

Actually Gingers moms sued The Presley estate saying Elvis promised to pay off her house.

Also in the rumor mill is that Ginger found Elvis and got all cleaned up before calling police? I find that a little hard to believe you would have to be one cold bitch to do that!!!

I think I had heard that Elvis "required" Ginger (and other women he had in his life previously and during) to stay fully made up even when going to bed. So Ginger would have been in full makeup in the morning anyways.

Possibly? I know When he was with Linda and he would be hosptialized for his drug addiction she would have to wear PJ's and sleep on a cot next to him in the hospital. She was quoted as saying they were more like "little Buddies"

She really wasn't allowed out of his site!!!

In the interview link posted by magblax, Ginger's sister, Rosemary, claims that Ginger rarely went without makeup when she was around E because he loved her lovely dark eyes...Rosemary stated that in an attempt to explain why Ginger was wearing full makeup when the cops arrived. Uuuh....yeah.

Also, how much time supposedly passed between the time E's body was discovered and the time the cops were called? I know there was 5 hours from the time he died until the call was made, but how long did he lie on the floor before he was reportedly discovered?

I saw him in concert 6 months before he died, and it wasn't that he didn't know the words, he was so messed up, he couldn't remember the words.

Any other comments on Elvis's doctor, "Doctor Nick"?

  21. #271
    Uncle Milte's Huge Wanger Guest
The time that passed between when they found him and when he arrived at the hospital was less than an hour. And that includes the time it took the ambulance to get to the house, which was like 15 minutes. I think the "cleanup" of the area (drugs, hypodermics, etc.) was done by his crew after they took him away. The bottom line, which I think is already well-established, is that there was a coverup, but only in an effort to hide the fact that he was a drug-addict, NOT that he isn't dead or anything like that.

On "Dr. Nick", I find it odd that he is still considered part of the inner-circle, is invited to Elvis anniversary events etc. I mean, this is the guy who gave him what he needed to destroy himself. However, Joe Esposito and the other people that have not been blacklisted by the Presleys claim that Dr. Nick was the only one of several of Elvis' doctors that actually was willing to take the risk of trying to ween Elvis off of the drugs by slipping placebos into his drug packages. Anytime this had happened previously, he would fire and cut off access to these people. The initial reason the West brothers were "fired" and cut out of the Presley lifestyle was because they tried to stop Elvis' drug deliverer from bringing him drugs. This is all documented stuff.

Why were people like Esposito close to the Presleys (Priscilla and Lisa) and not others who were probably more closer to Elvis like his cousins?

  23. #273
    Uncle Milte's Huge Wanger Guest

    Reason why

He had fired two of his entourage just prior to his death, because they had interfered with his drug supplier by threatening the delivery guy in the Las Vegas Hilton (at least that's what started it). He had his father fire them, after knowing them for 20 years. Then, after his death, a bunch of people published tell-alls and were "disowned" for it. The only ones that remained "loyal" aka "quiet" were Esposito, Larry Gellar, and Jerry Schilling. Anyone that publicly acknowledged Elvis was a drug-fiend was basically excommunicated from the Presley family/business. To this day, if you see Priscilla, Lisa, Joe E., Larry Gellar, and Jerry Schilling on tv etc., they really understate Elvis' drug addiction. His first cousin, Billy, was cutoff and ended up having to work in a machine shop in another part of Tennessee. In life however, Billy was probably the closest to Elvis and was the one who spent his last night on earth with him. Elvis was family-loyal and had talked about cutting everybody out but would have, of course, kept his family around. The messed-up thing is that the "Presley Family" no longer consists of Presleys except for Lisa. There are even a few Presleys running around Tupelo and Memphis, but they aren't even made a part of the Elvis enterprise. One of them is a youngish guy who played professional baseball but threw out his arm before his first major-league start.

I heard Elvis nearly came close to firing Colonel Parker in 1973 but his father and Esposito talked him out of it. The truth is that there were a lot of managers and record companies out there more than eager to take him as their client and could have bought Elvis's contract from the Colonel.
Also, Elvis planned to fire Esposito and the Colonel just before his death.
    Comments?

All of this is the same that I have heard. Elvis had made many halfhearted efforts to fire the Colonel but would never do it in person. He would tell one of his entourage to go and do it and the Colonel would always say "I'm not leaving until Elvis tells me himself", which he never did. This is per George Klein, who is a DJ on Elvis channel on Sirius and who knew Elvis since grade school. He had planned to fire EVERYBODY that comprised his "mafia" but not his business and house staff. Jackie Kouhane (sp?) was a comedian who opened for Elvis for many years and he said he got into an argument with the Colonel one time and the Colonel said he was going to go to Elvis and tell him to fire Jackie, and Jackie (who had a personal relationship with Elvis, unlike the Colonel believe it or not) told the Colonel that he would do the same and that "Elvis can always find another manager, but YOU can't find another Elvis." Apparently, this put the fear into the Colonel and he never brought it up or messed with Jackie again.

I also heard Joe Esposito was a snitch and always told on Elvis to the Colonel on a regular basis and report to the Colonel about Elvis's daily routine and habits and especially on what Elvis really thought of the Colonel!

Where were you when you heard Elvis Died?

Obviously this won't be a question for everyone but if you were old enough where were you when you heard the news?

I was 15, we were flying with my parents to Virgina for a bluegrass festival...I know gag me!!!

Anyway it was on the plane I heard and saw a paper about his death. At the time I knew who he was but I really didn't know the impact he made in music as I do now!!

I was 13 and the biggest Barry Manilow fan on earth. I ran across the street to my friend's house, knocked on the door. When she answered she said "Guess who just died? He was a singer." I said 'Barry Manilow?' "No, Elvis!"

I was so relieved it wasn't Barry. I was such an awkward teenager.
