Nanking Massacre and General Iwane Matsui

    http://www.historyplace.com/worldhis...de/nanking.htm

Count your blessings. No photos in here but you don't need them. They can be found if you feel the need for gore.

They also forced familys to pick a child to serve for dinner. If none was picked all were killed and roasted. After the child was picked the father had to kill, clean and gut the child. This people is what our Parents and Grandparents had to watch. We can't take a beheading video? This is real life and why we got into WW II. Not politics, just fact.

Horrific. And you know, there is still a very vocal segment here that insists that none of this actually happened. Awful.

The same thing happens to this day. Use to be in India when a husband died the wife was burned alive so she could be with him.

Thank you Union Carbide! We owe you one.

There is no monster to jump at you but the video of what happened to 300,000 people in China. If you puke it is your fault. Welcome to the world of war. Watch at your own sanities risk.

The Enola Gay was a good thing. Why do people have to commit atrocities such as that? Those poor babies!! I need some Ativan.

I don't have an answer but I do know that if an American was caught by "innocent civilians" they would have been ground round.

Ye it was! We save probably a million american lives, that is what the causality figure was if we would have invaded Japan!

I was at the Museum of Space in D.C. and the Enola Gay is there, it's powerful just to look at and remember what it held. I was in awe.

I've read the book, "The Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang (who recently killed herself, BTW) and it make me so upset. Remember, I have a degree in Chinese studies and have THE biggest soft spot for all of Asia.
Let's not forget the survivors and all those who didn't make it out of the Cambodian genocide, either.

I am glad they display it though.

    It ended WW II.

Japan had been at war for 1,000 years. Now they just build the fastest motorcycles in the world and lost their taste for blood. I was there for three weeks and they are now they are great. I also think the younger ones feel shame when they see this. We could not have moved enough troops to do an invasion. Those that hit the beach would have faced a blood bath beyond what we can understand. A meat grinder.

That is neat. But having been stationed in Missile Ops, there nothing like the Minuteman with 3 MIRVs or the Peacekeeper with 10.

Plus the tonnage is much more in a better package. More bang for the buck!!

It's about the Rape of Nanking. I have seen it before, I was just being faecetous. If you don't like murder, rape, mass graves, cannabilism, baby killings, forced incest and pretty much any horrific atrocity you could ever imagine, I suggest not watching it.

Nanking Massacre and General Iwane Matsui

If you have ever seen a Japanese porno or game show, you can see where I am going with this. They are big into degradation and humiliation. I believe the war crimes commited at Nanking in 1937-1938 was the ultimate reflection of one weird society. Here are ome examples of the sex crimes commited in Nanking:
-rape was commited on all woman ranging from babies to the elderly
-woman were raped and then killed while their familes were forced to watch
    - most rapes were done in daylight so everyone could see
    - incest gave particular pleasure to the Japanese. Fathers were forced to have sex with daughters, mothers with sons, brothers and sisters.
-Chinese men were forced to have sex with corpses
-the Japanese loved to watch celibant monks having sex
-woman were mutilated with bayonets and bamboos
-men would have their penises and testicles cut off and then be forced to eat them
-Chinese men were forced to have sex with farm animals

the Japanese also killed about 200-300,000 in about 2 months. Nanking would be the start of the many atrocities commited by the Japanese throughout East Asia. General Iwane Matsui was held responsible for the Nanking massacre and hanged in 1948.

the sad thing about this is the denial that still goes on in Japan today. They have not accepted responsibility to the same degree as the Germans. It is a credit to the West that we treated them so well after WW II. The Nanking Memorial:

I read the book "The Rape Of Nanking" some years ago. Wow. A very grim read, and not for the faint-hearted. The author sadly (and interestingly) committed suicide. I forget her name.

I just read the same book - Iris Chang was the name. Her family blamed her depression on the subject matter of her book. Shot herself in the mouth on Nov 9/04.

she left behind 3 suicide notes. One claimed the CIA was trying to get her. She was honored at the Nanking Memorial.

one more victim of the Japanese.

here is a speech by Chang:

I read a series of books titled 'Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service' I think the manga-ka artist used this for inspiration for one of the stories.

I was right- 'Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service' did have a story based on this. I have the books stored someplace and will look for it:
Dang! I couldn't believe Dark Horse has licensed Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service so fast! It's one of those niched masterpieces; I've never imagined a present-day supernatural manga with dark humor could be so well-written.

By the way, be prepared for another fight with Japanese right wing extremists; it has touched not only one, but two taboos: spoiler[the Nanking Massacre, and the notorious Unit 731]. I wonder why Eiji Ohtsuka hasn't been thrown rocks upon like Hiroshi Motomiya had been. Perhaps due to Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service mentioned them much less directly than Kuni ga Moeru did.

Also found this:not sure what it is,but has loads of information-too long to put in here:

Iris Chang killed herself in 2004 but her website continues on as if nothing happpened - her speaking engagements and contact info are still there. you can still order her books and her bio doesn't mention that she is dead. I find it disconcerting.

    I just looked at that-
Like how you can e-mail her and check on her public appearances.
I could be wrong, but I wonder if the site was just left alone after her death. I mean,it had been left alone. I wonder what happens if you send a message to the e-mail address.

just seemed weird to me. if you try to buy one of her books, it will take you right to Amazon, maybe her husband/family needs the money. At least they could update it and make it a memorial site. I don't know why but it bothers me.

    It bothers me also-
It is as if they refuse to acknowledge that she is dead. That someone is ashamed that she took her own life.

Don't Indians read the Bible? The wife is supposed to marry her brother in law.

In all seriousness, tthat is horrible. Poor holocaust victims and poor widows in developing countries. It amazes me the cruelty that humans are capable of.

I just found this. Don't watch if you don't want to see. The beginning footage is Mao, but the slideshow (that I did not finish) is black and white photographs of the 'death by a 1000 cuts.' REALLY horrifying.
