Okay, I've never been very good at math. But how is baby #18 going to make the number of family members 21? I always thought 18+2=20.

Maybe they consider the OB/GYN a member of the family.

Plus, with all those kids there's no way Michelle and Jim Bob can enjoy their kids. They can't spend time with them on any real regular basis and get to know their kids. There's just too many of them. If you had say seven kids, each day of the week could be one kid's "day" where they could do something special with mom while another kid got to do something special with dad so that way all the kids had a day to spend with mom and a day to spend with dad. It's still scheduled time but at least there would be some regular time for the parents to get to know their kids. Even then, though, the older siblings are forced to care for the younger ones while mom and dad are spending time with other siblings. I wonder how many times a day the phrase "Which ever one you are!" is uttered in the Dugger household.
Sorry I just meant financially they take care of there own kids.Or so i'm under the impression they do.

Ok, I have 3 grown kids and when they would do something that I had to call their name for, I would go through all of their names to get to the right one. If I had to go through 18 names I would end up insane. I think by now they should just number the kids. And I dont believe for one minute he makes enough money on his own to support all those kids, I was always struggling with mine. And I agree, she really needs to bust out of that hairstyle.

Something about the past's very large families.. These large families were mainly farm families, and yes they had many, many children, but they also usually had a live-in grandparent or grandparents, who were too old to actually "work" the farm, so they took care of the children. The reason that they had such big familes was for the free farm labor the children would provide once they had grown to a reasonable age. Everybody of sound health worked, ages 6 to 66.

I had a good friend who was the youngest of 21 surviving children (the mother had a few miscarriages along the line). She was a "farm" girl. This sort of baby production without a decent interval between is pure folly, endangering the mother's health at best.

I bet ya they learn from the minute their feet hit the floor about conserving big-time.

'Here J (that covers everybody) 1 dime sized dab of shampoo is all you can ever have, for life. You must not forget there are 19 heads behind you that need washing. Conditioner? No, out of the question, straw has it's merits, too'

I'm afraid a haircut alone would not solve Michelles problem. She is in need of a serious hair intervention.

    And clothing.

    And Makeup.

The list is endless...but the hair is the worst of her problems!

She can't cut her hair. It's part of their religious beliefs, I think. The long hair and skirts are a common thing in Mormonisim.

The ban on cutting women's hair, and long skirts (and no pants for women) are common in some of the Pentecostal churches as well

Yes, she has some sort of a mullet side thing going on and weird bang things. So yea, she cuts it, maybe just not the length, which is gross in and of itself.

They threw my sister out of the choir (which she adored) for cutting her hair. She left that church after a while.
I was less than thrilled with all those rules they had in her church.

The Duggars are followers of the evangelical Christian movement called Quiverful, which teaches that children are God’s blessing and that husbands and wives should happily welcome every child they are given. In fact, the Duggars' Web site, duggarfamily.com, quotes “Children are a heritage of the Lord” from verse 3 of the 123rd Psalm.

all ya gotta do is use that google for something other than lookin up porn lol..and youd be suprised what ya can find rather than debate are they this..or are they that lol..ok maybe its just me with the porn thing lol

Holy crap. Go to the web page and check out the photos, the house is pretty cool. But it lacks a lived in family feel to it. It seems like a well oiled machine on a commune.

I am afraid these kids will love it too much and not function outside of it nor will outsiders want to join the family. Well unless the kids marry people in search of a commune or cult themselves.

yes, they follow the religion called Quiverfull, and is you google it, you will find that these peole believe that birth control is bad, and that some of these mothers believe that they are "breeding" for lack of a better word, an army for God. That blew my mind.
I am all for belief in a higher power, but I think that there are kids in this world who need to be adopted. I think that is better that having 18 kids and many more.

This pregnancy was a surprise to the children, because the girls had been watching their mom's calender and didn't see it.

I think she should become a surrogate mom..she still wants to have kids, but give them to people who can't.

and I think her uterus could hold a whole circus not just the clown car..

ok..now I am off the soapbox...

    They are real estate agents?

I find it hard to believe that they are "debt free" and have done this all on their own.

I mean seriously, how professional is it the way that she dresses and does her hair?

They are clearly lacking both in intelligence and education.

Wouldn't that just make her more attractive to her husband? May the hair cut is on purpose. Maybe she trying to get hubby to lose interest.

Um, well the evangelical home schooling will pretty much explain that. Maybe the parents should start studying psychology so they can save money on counseling.

Does anyone remember "Who Are The Debolts? And Where Did They Get 19 Kids?"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076918/ From my own twisted perspective, adopting a bunch of kids with special needs is more in keeping with Christianinty than to produce one's own flock.

Has anybody ever noticed that these religions always put all the burden on the women? I mean, you can pick the women out of a crowd with their hair and clothing, but the men look "normal" for the most part. The women bear all the babies and the men just have fun. I want to start a religion where the men all have to wear long denim skirts and shave their heads and they have to do all the housework, take care of the kids, do the carpools, and the women can have multiple husbands.

Takes a special person or couple to adopt children with special needs..i have such respect...its hard when your child is born with needs ..to go into it knowing..and choosing to do it..amazing...this is true Christianity i agree 100%

The Duggars just plain annoy me. Just because you can make/have kids, does NOT mean you should continue to do so after having let's say the first half dozen or LESS!!! My folks have 7 kids altogether, and I know that I am the ONLY child they wanted, per a recent chat with my mom. We also happen to be a blended family - dad had 2 kids from 1st marriage, mom had 2 kids from her 1st marriage, those 1st marriages ended in divorce, mom & dad got custody of the kids from the 1st marriages, mom & dad married each other and went on to have 3 together thus 7 kids in total...I ended up having only 2 kids of my own because of having been raised in a large family myself I knew I did NOT want that for my own kids, so I stopped after my 2nd child was born, but my kids' father (my now ex husband, whom is from a family of 13 himself, all 13 from the same bio parents) went on to have at least 2 more kids that I know of with his current whore skank he calls his girlfriend...why when he can't even seem to support the 2 he had with me and I was legally his wife...sheesh ppl like him, his parents, my parents, the Duggars, and a few ex in laws of mine annoy me to no end...I also have a soon to be ex sil (my youngest brother's wife) who has been pregnant 6 times, 4 survived...I told my mom that my ex sil needs to stop opening up her legs and getting knocked up that just cuz she can get preggers and give birth does NOT mean she has the right to do so nor should continue to do so when she can't even take care of the 4 brats she has now...and her 2nd child has learning problems, yet the skank went on to have 3 more pregnancies, 2 to term...her oldest child and the 2 youngest have no problems, but the 2nd one has the problems...and if her 4th pregnancy would have gone to term and child live he would have been Down Syndrome, cleft mouth, and a whole host of other issues...and she kept getting knocked up and having kids? I was like WTF?!?!?! I told my mom how this girl cant even take care of her first one, yet she kept havin kids??? Dont ask my kids and I to babysit, it aint happenin...no one in my family (except for one sister) bothers to help me with my 2 kids because theyd rather help this skank with her 4 brats...makes no sense at all...

someone on here mentioned about having kids w special needs/adopting special needs kids...i understand this one too well, as my 1st younger brother is bipolar/adhd and his oldest child has adhd/severe speech problems, and my brother's youngest (my brother like me stopped having kids altogether when his 2nd child was born) has add/schizophrenic/severe speech problems that require a communication device provided thru the school district to help him...and both of my kids are add/cognitive learning disabilities/speech issues...

Thats an interesting thought. I wonder if any of her kids ended up handicapped or with some sorta mental disorder. Maybe it said that up there somewhere I didnt have time to read all these posts.
My sisters hubby is a Minister. They met at Minister school at Rhema bible college in OK I think is where it is.
Anywho they believe that the man brings home the bacon and the woman fries it up in a pan and of course never lets him forget hes a man.
Ok well she is the lesser of the two. She worships the man, takes care of him and what he says goes. She has no say. She has to wear what HE buys her. he commands her every move. He leaves her the days lists when he leaves for work in the morning of duties that will be done during his absense.
Isnt that stupid? My sister and I talk about it and she loves it. She doesnt mind being his wench and doing all this slave labor stuff. But he preaches to his congregation of how if society would do what God wants and that is too treat women like second class citizens then the world would be a more calmer rational place.

I beat his ass twice. I am sorry but when they got married 13 years ago. I was there and he and I got into it so I popped him a good one in the face. Ever since then he doesnt even look at me. I think hes strange. he thinks becuase I make music and do not live everyday according to what he believes God wants than I am of course... Satan. Whateva mofo!!

It is always that way. Knew a woman who had about 5 kids with her born again missionary husband. He decided they should be home schooled and the whole nine yards, but then left her to carry it out, because it wasn't his job!

Then they got divorced and he walked away! He lives with his mother now, letting her take care of him and refuses to help with his own kids. Yet still claiming to be an upstanding christian.

Alot of stuff in these religious groups is legalism. Never cutting their hair, not letting the girls wear pants. My nephew and his wife are like this, she only wears dresses and their little baby girl only wears dresses, she's walking now and almost trips over her dress. She doesn't cut her hair. My nephew wasn't raised like this. He got a religious relevation a few years back and he's even damning me to hell every now and then!

That's quite common in many fundamentalist groups. His wife wears dresses like the jumpers that are long, and wears make-up but no, her hair is straight and long. No Disney, only certain religous-based movies (before they go my nephew combs over the content to make sure). I am not around them much, however they are due any day with another baby.

I hate when i see the religious zealot women out and about with their children, the girls always look just as ridiculous as their Mom, but the boys look normal. I agree with Hag 1, how come the men don't have to wear any special garb?

I think everyone should do as they please, but raising your daughters to believe they are second class citizens? That just makes me sick. That and long hair and long jean skirts. Does anyone really think God cares about your clothes?
