And who can Forget Bela Lugosi laid out Dressed as Count Dracula in full costume!!

In the Lugosi Book "Dreams and nightmares" it has a few other pics of Bela Lugosi in his casket. the pic's were taken by David Katzman who was a good friend of Richard Sheffield. Richard was a teenager who became one of Bela's best friends in 1955. Richard and David were allowed in the night before the funeral and were able to take the pics...of course I had to borrow Scott's one from FAD!

Entirely possible.. It is not unheard of to be buried in pajamas, a favorite nightgown, etc. But you are correct, it does not look like a suit jacket or blazer.

I hadn't heard that, but it reminds me of something I saw quite some time ago in an antique shop. It was a long, narrow wicker basket with a top that fit on it. The tag said "wicker basket with headrest," and I thought "who the hell do you think you're fooling?" It was clearly a receptacle used when a body was picked up from the place of death, or perhaps to transport a body for cremation. I wonder if anyone ever bought it??

ooooh, creepy. saying that however, i don't think there would be one of us that would balk if when cruising through antique shops we came across an old retro casket and snatch that sucker up!

Heres a photo of James Dean playing around in a casket on a visit to his home town about 2 months before he would return in his own coffin.

Jackie Coogan, a.k.a. "Uncle Fester" on The Addams Family

He was such a cute little kid!

I think he should've won an Oscar for his role in Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid." Sadly, the Oscars weren't around quite yet in 1922.
