Bummer!

I have an old, old Japanese movie magazine from the 60's that includes an article on her and her 2 little girls. She was already divorced then.

OMFG that would be so rad. Like those ass hats that carry around a beeper to inform them about sports scores or high speed chases. Now all FAD forum members get free beeper to vibrate when their favorite celeb kicks the bucket.

A great loss. I really enjoyed her performances and her beauty. She was great in all of the Powell & Pressburger films which the obits have overlooked. Sad.

Can this thread topic please be retitled with the Actresses name?

The films she made with Powell & Pressburger are considered among the crown jewels of cinema, yet the bits failed to mention them. Her performance in Black Narcissus is one of the most memorable of any actress.

I always liked her...calm, very pretty, with an unforgettable voice. She had some great roles. I have to admit, she was getting to the age where you wonder if she's still around when she's still around.

I just heard about this. Then I read that Joey Bishop had died too. Wonder who the third will be?

I really liked Deborah Kerr too. I'm hoping to catch her turn as Dorothy Killgalen in that movie with Gregory Peck on TCM soon. I've never seen it. My favorite with her is King Solomon's Mines.

I just saw the obit in the paper. What a wonderful actress she was. From Here to Eternity was a wonderful movie.

I quite innocently predicted her death in another thread - 'sad last days of..' - I'm normally up on these things but missed Deborah's passing, mainly cos I've been v.busy at work in Paris, France. Please, if anyone has over looked The Innocents (1961) have a look at it soon, my own fav Kerr film.

Kerr, Bishop and Teresa Brewer a singer from the 40's and 50's all died on the same day, so that's 3. I still have a record of ms. Brewer's that was left to me from my Mom's collection. All of them going on the same day was overwhelming to me, Kerr being such a classy actress, Bishop being the last of the Rat Pack and Brewer being one of my Mom's favorite singers. So sad that these entertainers are gone.

Two of my favorite movies with her, "Heaven Knows Mr. Allison" with Robert Mitchum. She's a nun and he's a marine on an island occupied by the Japanese during WWII. The scene where shes sick and he's undressing her, you know he wants to jump her. Also 1958's "Separate Tables" one of my all time favorite movies. She's the repressed daughter Sybil, prone to hysterical fits. Great cast including Burt Lancaster, Rita Hayworth, Wendy Hiller in a rare screen appearance and David Niven getting arrested doing a Pee-Wee Herman. love those 50's Brit movies.

I am shocked by the lack of coverage on her death. She was one of the finest actresses of her time. I looked for anything on the news about her death, but no one even mentioned it! Is anyone else as shocked as I am?

Since DEBORAH KERR hadn't been in anything in 20 odd years, it would appear most apparent that the media cares less about providing her with any space for a decently sized obituary; I say care less compared to say some actor who is is currently on a telelvision series, and had one other credit under his/her belt were to die.

Each year during the Academy Award(s) ceremony when they run that
'In Memoriam' segment, it astounds me how the audience's applause is thunderous for say when (a) RIVER PHOENIX' photograph is flashed, but when someone who really had a long career but hasn't been in a film in years has died and they show his or her photograph, say MARY ASTOR' that there is barely an audible amount of approval (through clapping).

I was lucky enough to see an absolutely gorgeous print of The King and I earlier this week. And I was blown away by how beautiful Deborah Kerr was.

Truly a stunner.

I'm glad that at least a couple of other people know who she is.

How true, in fact Black Narcissus is one of the greatest films ever made. Still gives me goosebumps watching it--awesome, awesome movie.

Marni Nixon dubbed her singing voice in "The King and I." Of course, she dubbed Natalie Wood's voice in "West Side Story" and Audrey Hepburn's voice in "My Fair Lady."

And I've always felt that the King & I and Affair to Remember showed her true class and beauty -- both inside and out.

Of course, you would have to be the bomb diggety to dance in a dress like that......

I'm almost ashamed to say that my only exposure to Deborah has been the 1967 version of "Casino Royale"... but she was really great in that!
