“Could the Mystery of Queen legend's ashes be solved after plaque discovered in west London cemetery?
After speculation that his ashes may have been spread around Lake Geneva, the east African island of Zanzibar or at his Kensington mansion, a memorial plaque to the Queen singer has been uncovered in a west London cemetery.
While it was known he was cremated, it has never been known where his remains were scattered
The small plaque sits on a tall plinth among tributes to other individuals and reads: 'In Loving Memory of Farrokh Bulsara. Pour Etre Toujours Pres De Toi Avec Tout Mon Amour'.
This translates as 'Always To Be Close To You With All My Love' and is signed off with a letter 'M'. "

Thanks, Meli. Since Freddie loved cats and, the colors black and white ( my Freddie is a tuxedo cat), it made sense to give my at a very special name. Do you have pics of your Queen ?

A new book says Freddie once snuck Princess Di into a gay bar while she was dressed in drag.

Peter Freestone, Freddie's personal assistant from 1980 until Fred's death, insists that to his knowledge Freddie never even met Diana, let alone regularly go out with her.

Always loved Freddie from the earliest of childhood. Indeed, as far back as I can remember Freddie has figured in my life in a sense. I don't think we'll ever see someone of his talent again. We all know the cliche "Jack of all trades, master of none," well I believe Freddie was a master of all trades (within the sphere of popular music, at least!)

My parents and uncle were fortunate enough to see Queen perform their famous set at Live Aid in 1985, something I envy considerably. I saw Queen live with Paul Rodgers in 2008, and I met Brian May at an autograph signing in 2010 but, just not the same!

It's tragic that he died in such awful circumstances, but the courageous way he fought the disease is an inspiring example.

Kewl post, Introvert! Nice to have you here on the forum.
Definitely a hell of a voice...and instrumentalist...and stage presence, endless energy, touching the hearts of a stadium's worth of people!! Absolutely brilliant. The Biebers of this world aren't fit to line up the plastic cups of beer on Freddie's piano.

    Thankyou for welcoming me

And yes, absolutely. You don't really get Freddie's kind anymore which is a shame. There were always awful artists clogging up the airwaves but we've lost those characters like Freddie and John Lennon and Jim Morrison, etc. Music just seems so sterile now.

Happy Birthday Freddie....I bet you will of still been belting out those songs if you were still with us. Rest in Peace Sir!
To my Father. Even though you have crossed the plane, you will always be with me.
You were not just my Father, but my hero. My life has been a poor attempt to be like you
You taught me music, vocals, and how to fight. I can only hope I am half the man you are
When I close my eyes I can see you. And finally, Thank you Dad. for everything.

I had no idea that Freddies mother is still alive (or was as of last year) - this article is from last year (Sept of 2012) - and I hear she has a book as well with never seen photos.

Definitely a huge loss of talent and personality. Still, his music and legend lives on. I went to see the 'Queen Extravaganza' for one of their first shows, just to get a taste of what being at a Queen concert would have been like. It definitely delivered, but at the same time likely didn't compare at all. Still, I'd like to see them again now that the group has been refined a bit and has had more experience.

Thanks for the heads-up about Jer Bulsara's book.I think she would be in her late 80s or early 90s. I caught the last half of a Biography channel special about Freddie today. Apparently the Barcelona album was redone with a full orchestra with Freddie' s and Montserrat' s vocals blended in for the album's 25th anniversary. It sounded glorious on the program.Freddie, you are loved and missed.

Listen to the words. You know he wrote it when he knew he was dying. If you've never listened to the cd Made In Heaven I highly recommend it. It was released after he died. He would come into the studio and record on the days he felt up to it. His voice has such strength and emotion that it's hard to believe he was dying at the time he recorded his vocals. It's amazing. I think he died within 3 months of finishing his vocals. A really good bio on the whole band is a dvd called Queen-Champions of the World. If you like Queen at all I highly recommend it.
Roger Taylor (drummer) actually wrote this song, matter of fact (to the best of my knowledge) Freddie didn't write much on the Innuendo album (or the final tracks on the "Made In Heaven" album). At that point his health was pretty bad and he asked his band mates to write whatever and he would show up and sing it. Each song was credited as written by "Queen" (something they agreed to do from their 1989 album "The Miracle" onwards). The band knew Freddie had AIDS from around 1988/1989 so it makes sense that those final albums were very emotional in content. Even the Miracle (1989) has a very heavy/dark overtone to it with lyrics like "Goodbye, the party is over", "A little rain must fall", "It's a miracle we need, the miracle", Scandal, now you've left me and the world's gonna know", "was it all worth it, this never ending fight".

Here are a couple of videos I watched recently on youtube that I found interesting and somewhat enlightening...

    Freddie's Loves
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsJyk3nH0jQ

    Freddie's Liquid Assets (BBC)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82HfiLbCpzM

It's no shock that 99% of the songs Freddie wrote were about men, but it's pretty cool to actually see the people who inspired some of their biggest hits.

His rendition of "The Great Pretender" is not to be denied. Interesting how men who might otherwise cringe at an effeminate homosexual are able to accept and tolerate Freddie Mercury.

as long as he was heard and not seen, his voice was too good for homophobes to miss out on by being narrow minded. But you pop on Rock in Rio (when he dressed in drag with a pair of breasts hanging out) or the tail end of their 1981 Montreal concert (when Freddie is down to only his white short shorts) in a bar full of straight guys and that tolerance level will plummet fast.

I believe I read that Jer Bulsara, Freddie's mum has passed away. A genealogy site had listed her as "deceased" and her Facebook page has not been updated since 2012. If this is true, the only link to Freddie's family who's still alive is Kash. F this is true, RIP Mrs. Bulsara.

I was browsing youtube the other day when I noticed a fair amount of full length Queen concerts were posted from various years. Concerts that have never been given an official release...

QUEEN - Live at the Hammersmith Odeon (1975)

    Queen - Live At Earl's Court - 6 June 1977

I posted a couple of examples, but you can browse around and find a few more if you're interested... also, there is a full length concert from the Queen + Adam Lambert show on there as well.

Thanks, Jason! I've seen some partial links on youtube, but it's great that the full concerts are available.

I have a magazine here aimed at the 20-35 age range and I saw that Katy Perry has a new fragrance out called "Killer Queen." Although the 35+ may be familiar with Queen, I'm not sure that the 20-year-olds are as familiar with Queen. I'm not sure what to think of this. One part of me hopes that Brian and Roger aren't selling out the name - Katy Perry is no Freddie Mercury (duh), but maybe this would be a way to keep Queen alive for the younger generation. Hopefully no one will see this as Katy Perry being the Killer Queen.

Ah, a little bit of mental masturbation for the day.

at this point Brian and Roger are just trying to stay somewhat relevant and acquire some new fans to go out and discover their catalogue of music. Waynes World completely revived them in 1992 (in the US) to a brand new generation of fans ($$$ in the bank) and now Lady Gaga having Brian May play with her on a track and Adam Lambert doing 2 hour+ shows of only Queen songs could do the same for another generation. At this point they haven't completely disgusted me yet with their use of the Queen name, they've allowed some artist to sing their songs that didn't do the best job... but overall I think they have made some pretty calculated decisions on how they go out as Queen post Freddie.

Apparently Brian and Roger are putting together a "new" Queen album with some demo/discarded tracks they found as well as the tracks Freddie did with Michael Jackson. I'm not expecting anything great from it, but I'll def check it out!

I may have been premature on posting on Mrs. Bulsara. I was looking back and saw the genealogy site on her had not been updated since 2011, and she was definitely alive in October 2012 when she was on British TV with Kash. I've tried looking for confirmation and I'd like to hear from Brian May.

I have lots and lots of Queen friends from the many Queen conventions I've attended and I haven't heard one single word about Freddie's mom dying so I'm going to say no for now. I'll cruise over and check one of my groups and see if there is any news. If I find out that it's true I will let y'all know.

This is from "The Great Pretender" Album which is a collection of remixed Freddie tracks. It received a lot of heat when it was released because many felt it was blasphemous to re-work Freddie's songs. I liked it, thought it breathed new life into the songs which sounded very dated and 80's.

Happy birthday, Freddie! You would be 68 years old today. It's really hard to picture you as 68! As I say every year, I hope that in the next plane you are continuing to kick Jim Hutton's a$$ for giving intimate details of your death. It turns out that you didn't have your beloved privacy even in the end.

I hope that you are enjoying the next plane of existence!
