Alright... the greatest male vocalist of all time deserves a spot on the forum. I saw the remaining members with Paul Rogers in 2005 and although they were still good, the best part of the show was Bohemian Rhapsody. Basically the band played around old concert footage from 1986 and you can really see and hear what a talent Freddie was compared to Paul Rogers (no disrespect to Mr. Rogers, he's great with Bad Company). Overall I am glad they are still touring and keeping busy but I do miss Freddie.

I'm with you on that one...I was watching the Top 100 Most Annoying Moments in pop or something like that the other day and they had the moment where Brian May stood on the roof of Buckinham Palace and played "God Save the Queen" at the Queen's Golden Jubilee pretty close to the top. Definitely agree with them on that one. Barf.

In some ways, I disagree. The last time Queen played my neck of the woods, I was 10 years old. I am a HUGE Brian May fan. I adore him. Love. Lurve. Lovey McLoversons... anyway, I digress...

It was a huge thrill to see them in concert. Even though Freddie wasn't there, it was the closest that I will ever be able to get to seeing Queen in concert, and I'm darn grateful that I was able to see it.

Agree! I am a huge Queen-but-mostly-Freddie fan..lots of good memories from those days. I am insanely jealous you saw them live--I never had the honor. I have mixed feelings on them without Freddie, but I'd probably go see it anyway.

Nobody did it like Freddie, the consummate performer, and no one will again. I love his uniqueness.

I remember when John won the Garmmy for Another One Bites the Dust Roger escorted him up to the podium and while John looked excited, Roger made the acceptance speech. I've always wondered if John had some kind of aversion to public speaking or publicity in general. He seems so timid.

that's a shame. John was a talent himself. I love Another One Bites The Dust and You're My Best Friend. and the guy was a wicked bass player too. VERY underrated. but I guess if you have to be in a band with Freddie and Brian, that's gonna happen. but thanks for the info. it's much appreciated.

Hi guys. I'm a Queen fan, although never been lucky enough to see them live.

John Deacon pretty much withdrew from Queen after the Freddie Tribute concert, although he did join up with them again for the song No-One But You in 1997, the only new Queen song released since Freddie died.

He was always very nervous and shy, and I've heard it said that he is agoraphobic. I've heard that when he was on tour he used to have some kind of therapy to deal with the anxiety but stopped that when he retired.

He doesn't need to perform now anyway, with the royalties he's made.

Yeah I'm with you on that one... for those that were either too small or got into Queen too late in the game the current tour is all we have. Although Freddie... Paul Rogers is not, it's the only way to see Brian and Roger do what they used to do and do it well I might add.

It's tough to replace the lead singer in a band. Freddie was an amazing talent. He is missed. There will never be another one like him thats for sure. I don't remember who but when Queen was inducted in the Hall of Fame someone fronted the band and did a good job. He wasn't up to Freddie's high standard but he did ok. I think it was the guy from the Foo Fighters.

I don't know if this was a local Salt lake city thing but when Freddie passed some "jerk off" DJ kept playing Queen's "Another one bites the dust". He was referencing another AIDS patient biting the dust!

I think it was just a local station here in Salt Lake...What an asshole DJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I personally find insulting is the fact they still use the name Queen... BUT in the end the name sells and it is a business so I guess I understand (sorta). I actually don't feel Paul Rogers is pretending to be Freddie, I think the guy took on a HUGE task and does it in his own way. I'm actually glad they didn't find some guy to look and sing like Freddie like they did with Journey. Again if they never toured again I would have never gotten the chance to see them (Brian & Roger) so I'm grateful for that and I honestly think they waited long enough and they are doing this thing as tastefully as they can.

I have to agree with you there - I REFUSE to listen to any of the "new" Journey stuff - since to me, Journey is with Steve Perry (altho the stuff they did BEFORE he joined the band is pretty good too!), but to hunt down a guy who sort of looks like him and almost sounds like him - is just pathetic.

That guy has since left the group due to medical problems and they have another lead singer now - altho I don't know if HE sounds or looks like the other Steve replacement!

I didn't like that either. You can't carry on like a cover band when a legend dies. Wasn't Scott Stapp doing shows with the Doors and there was a reality show to find a new singer for INXS? Just wrong.

The song, "Don't Stop Me Now" was his favorite & played at his funeral....it was soooo moving that I felt compelled to reaquaint myself with the music of Queen. I tend to think that Freddie, Jonny & I all also share in the message of "Who Wants to Live Forever?"

That sounds very moving...unfortunately, now every time I hear "Don't Stop Me Now" it just makes me think of that scene in the Winchester in Shaun of the Dead (well, not unfortunately, because I love that movie, but I'm sure you all know what I mean!) If you haven't seen the film though, it's definitely worth it even if it means you'll think of it every time you hear "Don't Stop Me Now."

Would you like a loved one to tell everyone you were going blind and pissing yourself? Jim Hutton makes all these claims, and he is not very popular among Queen fans. If I ever met him, I'd pinch him in the nipple...

Elliot did a nice job with that song. It's hard to follow a legend, and he pulled it off with amazing skill. Elliot wasn't my favorite, but I had to hand it to him. He put a nice bluesy vibe to it, I think Freddie would have been proud (except Freddie would still know he was the one and anyone else is just a temporary stand-in!).

I suppose it is ironic, given this forum- I have just always felt this way when it comes to Freddie.

I think its more that Jim claimed all this crap about Freddie being in love with him blah blah blah and then he turns around and makes a buck off of his humiliating death. Just reeks of slimebag to me.

What we see here, is more objective in nature, not Scott saying, "Hey I had a deep relationship with "insert name here", pay for my website and you can see his death pics.

Kinda the reason I bought the book.....I enjoyed the invasiveness, in a weird way . It gave me a side of his life you don't get out of articles.

And I'm holding on to it if the movie on his life with J. Depp comes out, I can re-eBay it for $$$$. Amazon has them for $105 at the lowest price right now as it is out of print. If I get a chance I'll nab another for resell. I guess I am guilty of peddling the dirt.........

I remember seeing a different ad with the same song about 2 years ago, when I first saw it I was kinda like... "hmm, I guess it's about time". Did it anger me? not really, I was more surprised that anyone (that isn't a Queen fan) would know of that song to be honest. Now the fact they drag "You're my best friend" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" through the mud is kind of annoying, but I still love the songs no matter how tastelessly they are used. I have an unconditional love for Queen I guess.

Well Freddie actually loved her immensely and wanted her to be cared for after he passed. This is an interesting article you may like to read. Freddie actually had a relationship with Mary before realizing he was Gay but they always remained very close friends. The song "Love of my life" was actually about Mary; also Freddie was a business man before he was an artist and I am pretty sure he would want Brian, Roger, John, Mary and anybody else he cared about to make whatever money they can off of his memory and in turn keep his memory alive. Now as far as us knowing all the dirt on his last hours, he probably would have opted out on that one... but in my opinion it just brings us closer to the reality of what somebody with AIDS goes through at the very end and I find it extremely fascinating.

I would assume Michael Jackson is the one allowing them to be used primarily because he has no loyalty to them and it's easy money for him, plus he owns the Beatles Catalog. As far as Queen goes every time one of their songs is used the right people get the cash because the right people still own the rights of the music.

I love this book! Freddy was so talented and I still miss him. Last year on my birthday a friend gave me a framed poster of him...I introduced her to Queen ( she's in her early 20's). I saw them in 78-79 and still have a couple of my concert t-shirts from then. Fabulous art work!

I just look at it as a business... not something to take personally, in business the objective is to keep the product moving and make a lot of money. Same thing applies to a band... Freddie died and Roger and Brian want to keep on going, I would like to think Freddie would be cool with that. As far as John Deacon goes I just think he wants an excuse to stay out of show business, he probably would have eventually ditched Queen if Freddie was still around... I don't think that guy ever expected to be in a band for 20 years and really wasn't comfortable (based on interviews) with most of what Show Bizz had to offer, he's the quiet family man type.

But I totally understand how any of you would lose respect for them, I just love them so much I eat up whatever they are selling.

I have to agree about Paul Rodgers.
But then, I can't think of a single person who could fill those shoes.
