Thank you Long Gone Day. Had not thought of it that way, but I do try to get to know that person and think if the person portrayed would have liked the result and get the eyes right (the windows to the soul) thats the key for me. If it's a film star then I watch their films, if a musician then I listen to their music and watch their video's - I cannot have them sitting in front of me so I make do and mend, it's all part of the fun of what I do.
The guy who commissioned this wanted him less world weary and young (like him - he could only have been late teens himself). Made me smile as I am middle aged - kinda surreal really - there was this 'old' lady doing a pic of this grunge musician for a teen fan who could only have been a child when Kurt died. Sorry artists think differently about stuff
I like to hear small things about Kurt. Like, did he have a nickname? Did he ofthen say a special word (part from "fuck", lol, sorry Kurt but it's a lot of them in your interviews), other things, small funny stories, jokes he liked to tell etc.
You know, I'm not a huge fan of Nirvana. I saw them in concert in Phoenix a month before he died and for that, I'm glad. However, just like there are a lot of facts that give me pause that my beloved Elvis may still be alive, maybe he was murdered. I never gave it any thought until now. Thanks guys...one more thing to keep me up!
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]peek-a-boo!!
Never was a huge Nirvana fan, but after reading the Grunge is Dead book last week and watching the Unplugged dvd, I respect the band. The Nirvana/Cobain sections were a very interesting read.
I thought it was funny reading about Kurt's roadie days
Did anyone else watch "The Last 48 Hours of Kurt Cobain" a few nights ago on Ovation? (Note: I had never heard of nor watched anything on Ovation before this, so it isn't surprising that my heart skipped a beat when I saw "Kurt Cobain" in my DirecTV program guide). It was incredible, honestly it was. They went into detail with everything; interviewed Kurt's counselor at Exodus (the rehab he "escaped from" two days before he died), interviewed the Guns N' Roses bassist who, coincidentally, sat next to Kurt on the plane ride from L.A. to Seattle.
The program really added another dimension to the speculation surrounding Kurt's final days. I came away from it with a profound feeling of sadness; Kurt was just a sensitive soul who was longing for a comfort zone-- one that would allow him to do what he loves without too much pressure, pain, or struggle.
EDIT:
Found the documentary! Watch it on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_1EBafIOdA

I did not, wrong country for your tv-chanals, but I've seen it before and I think they did a good job with it.
I saw that about 6 months ago and thought it was excellent! I didn't even know I had Ovation until I noticed his name on the guide. LOL
Thanks KMK
I thought this interesting in the Grunge is Dead Book:
Tracy Marander said: He was more of a Gemini than a Capricorn. not that i believe in astrological stuff, but he was totally weary of people trying to pull one over on him. but at the same time, he could fall for that kind of stuff, because he was a nice guy and wanted to think the best of people.
I thought Kurt was a pisces? Why would she say he was a capricorn? I know this is minor, but you would think she would know something like that. He wrote so much about being a pisces. Maybe he told the press a wrong birth date??

I had heard that he was AD/HD but did not know about the ritalin theory. If he was off of it, especially not detoxed properly it would be understandable.
Wanna see my grandkids?
I thought he had had ritalin as a child, but certainly not in his late teens to 20's. strange. if it is true though, it could have impacted on his chemistry.

He was bipolar, but I've never heard of AD HD in him before.
See, I got really interested in his supposed suicide just this past year. I saw that they published his notebook and my husband was a huge fan, so I got it for him. After a while we started talking about the suicide and the forensics just dont make sense.
How could he have pulled the trigger with his toes if he still had his sneakers on? Courtney did it.
I googled "Church of Kurt Cobain" and found this little gem: http://www.geocities.com/churchofkurt/index.html
Honestly, I hope this is a joke. Jeebus H. There's a fine line between avid fan and obsessive, reality-detached maniac and I believe the creator of this "church" has crossed it.
I've found a few rare jems the other day and I thought I'd share them with you. Without further ado...
... here's the rest of them...
Beautiful photographs! Thank You for posting.
Yes very beautiful...I miss Kurt almost as much as I do Layne. These guys laid a foundation and now they are gone. So sad...
The one thing I gotta say that Im happy about is that when Francis ooks back on the pics of her Dad holding her you can see the absolute pure amazing love he has for her
Hi, first can I say that I never even knew there was suspicious circumstances around Kurt's death. I stumbled on this thread by accident and became hooked. It's made me question everything. Also can I ask if anyone has heard "Hollywood Bitch" By Stone Temple Pilots, cos I am know wondering if it's about Courtney and Kurt?
Sorry got the song wrong I think it's called "too cool Queenie" or something similar, but it goes on about some half talented girl latching on to a guy who was far more talented, and taking his money and he kills himself so it made me wonder..
Courtney Love is such a disaster, I can't see her being able to keep her mouth shut all these years if she had killed Kurt.

It's on the album shangri la dee da, I'm not too sure I like it really
it goes
there was this girlwho lived not too long ago
as a matter of fact i think she lives still
she knew she could do no wrong just singin' those songs
that we all knew
she would always crash the party it was no surprise it was for her too cool queenie
there was this boy he played in a rock and roll band
and he wasn't half bad at saving the world
she said he could do no right so he took his life
his story is true
it's ok cause what goes around comes around
it's alright cause what goes around comes around
And now this girl, yeah she got real famous
and she made lots of money and some of his too
but she still thinks she can do no wrong
just playing those songs
she's all too cool
I dunno if it is about them but there are some parallels
How it all started...
... and how it ended. From his last show:
Oh god she was a right one wasn't she, didn't she auction off John Lennon's blood stained clothes some years ago?

We need to try and contact Scott Weiland and demand he tell us who it's about, I initially thought of Kurt and Courtney coz it mentions her making him feel like he could do no right and so he took his life, and that she makes lots of money and some of his too, coz she has a share in all Nirvana profits now doesn't she. She's a grade A cow, whether she had anything to do with his death or not.
What sort of woman would re enact her husband's suicide on stage at one of her concerts????!!!!!
I can't stand Courtney for a few reasons. She likes to talk a lot of shit about a lot of people and really push buttons for the purpose of pushing buttons. She likes to involve herself in everything and spark a great deal of drama.
In Grunge is Dead they talk about that a little bit too. From what pretty much everyone has suggested about her, and even what you can see from her own ramblings, that's exactly what she likes to do. She likes to be the center of attention.
Do I think that she killed Kurt? No. I honestly don't. She is a vile woman for many reasons, but I don't think that she killed him. I think that it is very possible that she contributed to his depression obviously. That's pretty plain to see. But I don't think that she killed him.
Have you heard these, they're really good at doing it!

Has anyone here read his published journals? It's such a dense book... I got it for Christmas two years ago... only halfway through... it can be a hard read.
(but damn was the man a genius)

Aye, it's personal, it's invasive...
It's not too personal, though, none of them are too invasive. He tells stories, he draws pictures, he writes letters to friends, he writes lyrics, he makes lists. I haven't looked at it in a long time, but I bring it with me places sometimes.
OH GOD! I just remembered.
Has anyone heard that goddamn speech Courtney Love made at his tribute or whatever it was the day of or after his death?
She actually made the crowd scream "Fuck you Kurt" or something like that... what an evil succubus bitch.

I HATED courtney for publishing his journals. I thought it was the absolutely most invasive thing she could possibily do. I wrote her a letter about that and was pretty vocal on her sites about it too. I eventually bought it only a few months ago (i sold out). I felt very bad reading it, but after i did, i felt as though i didn't learn that much more about him, except that yes he was incredibily smart. Because courtney had complete control over what was published, she only showed aspects of what was going on. He probably wrote negative things about her etc, and towards the end, if they were getting a divorce, why wouldn't osmething like that be mentioned? they didn't seem all that personal to me. just alot of lyrics and letters.
I don't think directly killed him, but drove him to it somewhat. I don't think he was murded, but yeah killed himself. She was angry when she told the crowd to say fuck you. I dunno about her. I don't hate her like you guys do. It's a love hate thing. I did see a clip of her making the new record though recently and could barely stand one minute of her fucking voice. she's awful today. 1990 she was different.
Aye. I actually liked her in 200 Cigarettes... if any of you have seen it. I liked her voice back in the 90's, but it's so obvious that all of her good lyrics were his writing. The journals weren't too invasive, you don't learn much about him, he's still a stranger after each page... it just makes you more curious.
This wiki page says it is about Kurt. But then again, it's a wiki page. lol
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain
Oh wow thanks, I'll go with the wiki just to stop me wondering about it
Speaking of Courtney and Scott, did anyone see this article from waaaaay back talking about Courtney and Scott hanging out naked in a hotel room? I forget what the entire story is (forgive me lol) but I think it was something along those lines. I forget what magazine it was from even, but I know that it was some rumor having to do with something involving those two. Emphasis on the "rumor." Not really pertanent information, but the STP lyrics reminded me of it.
I read the Kurt journals (which were gifted to me by a friend as well). I don't think that they had anything in them which was overtly personal, but I still felt a little shitty after I finished skimming through it. It just felt like, regardless of what exactly was said by Kurt in the journals, it was still personal. I write stupid things all of the time in my journals that I never intend anyone else to read, but don't contain anything that I would not want to get out. Would I want them published in a book after I die though? Probably not. That's my only issue with it.
And I would like to give Courtney the benefit of the doubt. I mean, none of us know her personally, so it's not really our place to say anything. But the way that she comes across to the people who actually do know her says a lot IMO. Not to mention some of the things that she says in public. And who knows? Maybe she is just perceived the wrong way by everyone. But there is just something about her that makes me ill.
