Good work guys! I have never heard that song before. She has a very pretty voice.
Go Team FAD!
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

not sure those are the right lyrics but they sound something like,
why does the sun keep on shining
why aren't there clouds in the sky
why do the birds keep on singing
Not sure I got the last part right but it's been stuck permanently in my head and I can't remember, who sings it, what the title is and where I might have heard it (I know, everywhere). I know it's really annoying and some of you will hate me for putting this thing in their heads now but you guys are really my only hope. Tried searching for it of course but somehow nothing comes up. On to more searches.
"Don't they know....it's the end of the world..."
Herman's Hermits, and other artists
It's The End Of The World....
Great Song!!
I think this is it.
Vonda Shepard - The End of the World Lyrics
Why does the sun go on shining?
Why does the sea rush to shore?
Don't they know it's the end of the world
'Cause you don't love me any more?
Why do the birds go on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when I lost your love.
I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why ev'rything's the same as it was.
I can't understand, no I can't understand
How life goes on the way it does
Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when you said goodbye
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when you said goodbye.
Good song, lotsa covers of it.
Stay in Drugs. Eat your School. Don't do Vegetables.
Brenda Lee also did a fine job of this song. Of course, as posted above, Skeeter Davis was the first one to record it.
"So many faces in and out of my life. Some will last, some will just be now and then. Life is a series of Hellos and Goodbyes, I'm afraid it's time for Goodbye again. "
Isn't the internet fabulous?
20 years ago, you would have had to ask actual people this question, or gone to the library, and it would have taken days! to get the answer, if you managed to find it. Now---phhht!
Last night my son decided he wanted "Johnny B. Goode" for his Ipod.....he had a flawless-quality recording of it in about 60 seconds.
No concept whatsoever of going to the record store, hunting through bins and finally paying for an entire disc full of songs you don't want, that gets scratched and doesn't sound good, that you can't walk around listening to.
I just remembered, didn't Lena Zavaroni do a cover of this song too? I used to have her 8 Track, after seeing her, in the 70's, on the kid's show "Wonderama".
"So many faces in and out of my life. Some will last, some will just be now and then. Life is a series of Hellos and Goodbyes, I'm afraid it's time for Goodbye again. "
thanks guys, can't believe how quick that was. It had to have been from the 60s of course, couldn't have been anything else. I have to apologize for calling it annoying, only annoying because I couldn't find it. Could have googled and youtubed it until the cows come home with the search words I was usingthanks so much. It's such a beautiful song, actually makes me (want to) cry.
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I find myself Googling, almost everyday for stuff I used to know! They just started a new oldies AM radio station here. Knowing who sang what oldie, what year the song came out and even what record label it was on, used to amaze my friends at how accurate I was. But, ever since I turned 40, six months ago, these things are starting to slide out of my brain! So, I say thank God for Google, and this board!![]()

aye, truer words have never been spoken. I'm actually listening to some happier stuff now.And Speedy Gonzalez really makes me smile, thanks
see, much better already.
A little trivia for you. On the Herman's Hermits version, that's Jimmy Page on lead guitar, doing all the volume swell fills.
I didn't know that!!! Jimmy Paige and Hermann's Hermits. JHC!!
Jimmy was quite the studio musician before the Yardbirds and Zep. There's tons of stuff he's played on that wasn't documented. Supposedly, he played on Tom Jones early hits, like "What's New Pussycat?". It is documented that he played lead on Van Morrison and Them's "Baby Please Don't Go" and "Here Comes The Night".
But that's the beauty of music...you can still listen to it! I'll playfully bust my wife's chops for not knowing a classic song. She'll ask me when it came out, and I'll say 1960-whatever it is. "How should I know, I wasn't alive yet!". My answer is "I wasn't alive in 1066 either, but I know that's when the Battle of Hastings was fought". You can always go back and learn.
Jeez, totally forgot about meeting Peter Noone a few years back. Delightful chap, he was!
Rickenbacker, I do believe this post qualifies you for nerd status. Now I can say "I wasn't alive in 1066 and I have no idea what on earth the Battle of Hastings was about, or who it was between, or how long it lasted, but I know that's when the Battle of Hastings was fought."
heh. thanks!

For some reason I've been thinking of this song a lot, on this day, 9/11.
I imagine it might have been what some of the family members, that lost their loved ones, 7 years ago, might have been thinking.
For those who were left behind, my thoughts and prayers go out to you today! You and the ones you lost, HAVE NOT BEEN FORGOTTEN!!!

She goes from singing alt to soprano throughout the song, They play it sometimes during tv shows, they had it on animal planet the other day. Please help me figure out what song this is.

LOVED Dead Like Me!!! They took it off the air WAY before they should have...
My Mother used to sing this song to us when we were little...I think she was a closet Death Hag....why she would sing to us about a murder sucicide I have no idea....I've never heard it any where else. Anybody know? She said her father taught it to her...another Death Hag perhaps? They were from Kansas/Oklahoma/Washington.
It was on one Christmas Evening
The snow was on the ground
Nearest home in North Carolina
This murderer he was found.
They say he killed his wife at first
And the little ones did cry
Please poppa won't you spare our lives
for it is so hard to die.
But the raging man could not be stopped
He would not heed their call
But kept on firing fatal shots
Until he killed them all.
They all were buried in a croweded grave
While the angels sang above.
Come home, come home, my little ones
to the land of peace and love.
They would not carry him away to jail.
No lawyers did he pay.
He'll have his trial, in another world
On the final judgement day.
I found this:
The Lawson Murder
It was on last Christmas Evening;
A snow was on the ground.
His home in North Carolina
Where the murderer was found
His name was Charlie Lawson,
And he had a loving wife.
But we'll never know what caused him
To take his family's life.
They say he killed his wife at first,
And then the little ones did cry,
"Please, Papa, won't you spare our life?
For it is so hard to die!'
But the raging man could not be stopped;
He would not heed their call,
And he kept on firing fatal shots
Until he killed them all.
And when the sad, sad news was heard
It was a great surprise.
He killed six children and his wife,
And then he closed their eyes.
"And now farewell, kind friends and home;
I'II see you all no more.
Into my breast I'll fire one fatal shot;
Then my troubles will be o'er."
They did not carry him to jail;
No lawyers did he pay.
He'll have his trial in another world
On the final judgment day.
They were all buried in a crowded grave
While angels watched above.
"Come home, come home, my little ones.
To the land of peace and love."

Ah, another heart warming mountain ballad.
Seriously, being in a bluegrass band you hear this kind of stuff a lot.

Wow- that's the most cheerful Christmas song EVER.
Performing my signature monkey hump move since 10/16/2007...
RIP Dad- 11/14/1947 to 12/16/2013
This song plays at work constantly. None of us can figure out what the song is called or who sings it. We've googled & asked Jeeves & anything else we can think of. Does anyone recognise it?
Here are some lyrics. The words are hard to decipher & that makes it harder.
Luxury......seems to be the chorus
such a waste
You can come as you are
You don't have to be a shining star
smile on your face
Thank you so much for any suggestions
Have you guys tried the shazaam app for iphone?? Is it sung by a man , woman, group?????
A man. I have Shazam but can't get it to read the song. SO frustrating!
Coldplay?
I am a sick puppy....woof woof!!!
