They say that a person who has multiple cosmetic surgeries has a mental illness. Why else would this woman let somebody mutilate her face many times? All of those surgeries were so unnecessary. What made her think that surgery after surgery made her look even more beautiful in her own mind, rather than leaving her face untouched?

Yeah - it's not like she was trying to have some perceived flaw corrected - she apparently wanted to look like a cat.
Ultimately, she failed in that pursuit while ruining her natural beauty trying to "become" something that she was not.

Yeah - but how do you decide when a line has been crossed?
If someone wants to get a nose job or a boob job or some kind of cosmetic surgery to alleviate a perceived flaw, we are lucky enough to live at a time when such procedures are possible and generally safe.
People aren't crazy or acting strangely if they want a smaller nose or bigger boobs, or fewer wrinkles and age spots; so how do you determine when they have gone from wanting a "reasonable enhancement" to acting batsh*t crazy?

The two women being discussed here obviously had some sort of psychological or emotional issues, but in their minds they were doing something reasonable.
