Linda Lavin, star of "Alice", 87

This is a shocker. Article says she was doing well, after lung cancer diagnosis.

Alice is one of my favorite TV shows. I still watch the reruns on Antenna TV, almost every night.

I remember her - besides "Alice" - in a great guest role on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" as domineering mother (and mother-in-law from hell), Ursula Sussman. The late Ned Eisenberg played her son, Danny.

She was cold as ice and rocked the role. And obviously, besides "Alice" and TV guest roles, also had a long career in theater. This is a shock. May she rest in peace.

A accomplished actress in comedy and drama, I loved her on Alice. She had a great bit in The Intern trying to hook up with Robert De Niro. Saw her last in an episode of Elsbeth and she was fantastic. RIP Linda.
Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness.

I just realized that only leaves Polly Holliday, who played Flo, as the last original cast member to still be alive.

I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, but all the tributes about Linda Lavin keep saying what a wonderful singer she was. Sorry to say, I really did not like her singing.
