I met him in Chicago. He was just as much fun in person as when he was on t.v. and he fixed my camera. He was at the Vatican when I was there, but I didn't see him.

The years that he dropped out of public site , makes me wonder if he developed an illness which wouldn't allow him to exercise and he didn't want to be seen being larger .He was such an inspiration , never judgemental and just wanted people to be healthier .RIP .

I read some time back that he had developed some mobility issues, and that played a big role in his dropping out of sight.

sorry for the size of the picture no matter what I did , it will not size down. Richard at 20 n 1968. I saw him in an interview back in the day, that my mom was watching, and I thought he said at one time he weighed like 270 or 300 pounds pounds.

PK, if I remember correctly, he said he was heavy in elementary and middle school and after being told he would never amount to anything, he started his weight loss journey. Of course, this could also be a photo of his brother and mistaken for Richard.

Fall may have been cause of death, seems he fell the day before his birthday, in his bathroom, he told his housekeeper he felt dizzy. Autopsy has been done and they found nothing that would have caused his death, they are waiting for further investigation such as tox reports and whatnot, he told his housekeeper he didn't want to go to the hospital when she said they should call, he wanted to stay home for his birthday. The next day he was found dead. Arty what body are you talking about?

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that police responded to a call around 10 a.m. Richard was pronounced dead at the scene. Sources told the outlet that Richard fell in his bathroom. The fall is believed to have potentially play a role in his death. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/richard-simmons-autopsy-complete-body-091704178.html

Oh wow! My mom died, due to a fall in the bathroom, just this past April. Falls can be fatal for elderly people. Bones are prone to being broken more easily and head trauma can occure more quickly. I wonder if this was the indirect or even the direct cause of death for Richard. People need to take a fall more seriously. They may not feel it's important when it happens, but it could have serious results later on, if not addressed right away.

Thanks, I was looking for an image in the original link.
Stretcher or gurney would be commonly used here.

He was laid to rest in a private ceremony attended by family and a few close friends. He's now buried at Westwood - where Marilyn Monroe and the others are!

The coroner said Simmons' primary cause of death was a result "of blunt traumatic injuries," according to a statement released Thursday. Arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease — stiffened blood vessels that can restrict blood flow to the heart — was a contributing condition in Simmons' death, which was ruled an accident.
The statement also confirmed reports that Simmons had "experienced a fall" on July 11 and spent the next day in bed.
