May she rest in peace. She had some really bad mental health issues. I would see her on interviews and she would just be talking about conspiracy theories, and well, tin foil hat kind of behavior. Shelley thought Robin Williams was still alive and a shapeshifter. She was psychologically abused by the producer of The Shining. What's worse is Jack Nicholson knew and did NOTHING to try and stop it.

This is the most recent interview that the YouTuber grimlifecollective did with her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KreP9gicylk&t=784s It's from a year ago.

I think she also had Alzheimer's or dementia, oh Tiny, I love watching grimlifecollective. and yes the producer of The Shining put her through hell as she wasn't acting scared enough. The scene of her in the Shining when she is in the bathroom and Jack is breaking through the door with the axe, the fear and her screaming was not acting. Rest well sweet lady you deserve peace in your next life

Bless her heart. She struggled. I watched a bit of Dr. Phil interview. Had to stop. Shame on him. RIP.

So talented and such a sweet soul. Loved her in Nashville and 3 Women. RIP Shelley.

Grimm Life Collective is a good one; I follow them also. Another YouTuber I follow featured the film "Popeye" about two weeks ago. Likely mere coincidence; or maybe they had inside info?

Shelley seemed to be in two minds about the film and Kubrick as she admitted what him putting pressure on her while filming did...the stress causing her hair to fall out, making her do take after take to the point it ended up in the book of records for most takes of a scene, crying for hours on end every day, telling the rest of the cast and crew to isolate from her etc. In later years, she would in one interview call him out but in another compliment him. She did an interview with Dr Phil saying it was hell filming because of how she was treated. His daughter put out a statement all but insinuating it wasn't true and it was her illness talking but even Anjelica Huston who was dating Jack at the time of fiilming said that both Kubrick and Jack treated Shelley like crap.

“I got the feeling, certainly through what Jack was saying at the time, that Shelley was having a hard time just dealing with the emotional content of the piece. And they didn’t seem to be all that sympathetic. It seemed to be a little bit like the boys were ganging up.”

The actress added, “That might have been completely my misread on the situation, but I just felt it. And when I saw her during those days, she seemed generally a bit tortured, shook up. I don’t think anyone was being particularly careful of her.”
I do find it funny how so many rush to defend Kubrick even now because of his work even though others have called him out for that behaviour as well. I don't think that was the full reason what happened to her in her later years happened, but it certainly didn't help. Hopefully she is finally at peace whereever she is. RIP.

oh yeah I totally believe her when she said he did all that stuff to her, other people have come forward a long time ago and said they saw it first hand while working on The Shining, his treatment of her.
