The British actor best known for playing the rebellious student Denham in To Sir With Love has died. In 1996 he purchased the Lone Star Boutique Hotel & Restaurant in Mount Standfast, Barbados. Born on 3/17/44, he's survived by his wife, Christine Carswell whom he married in 1973. They had two children, Lucinda Alison and Benjamin Henry.
To me, To Sir With Love is one of those Coming of Age films that will never be "dated". It still tugs at the heartstrings, IMO.
Besides Sidney Poitier, it featured Suzy Kendall, Judy Geeson, Michael Des Barres, Dame Patricia Routledge (yes, Hyacinth was once a teacher) and (drumroll please) ..... LULU !!!!! For us Ab Fab fans, Lulu is Edina Monsoon's most famous client, lol. All except Sidney are still alive as of this writing.
