Karaoke, any chance you could find that local article and post it?

hopefully, this link will take you to the right spot. On the right side of the page, there's different articles on the case. If you type in at google or I use Blingo myself, "springfield newsleader streeter", any one of those first few links will get info from the newsleader site, there's also video on the newsleader site.

At KY3.com, the local nbc affiliate, you can type in search on the right side of the screen, "Streeter", or hopefully, just click the link below.

http://www.ky3.com/home/related/7876067.html

At least one of the stories in that bunch has the story and the video news report as well.

Got it Karaoke, thank you! Good reading.

I use Blingo too. Have you ever won anything? I sure haven't but I've only used it for a month or so.

There are some who believe a man named Randy Rust, a man with a long record I think, or Robert Cox, may have had something to do with it. In Springfield, there's always construction of medical buildings going up, and at Cox South Hospital, in their parking garage I think, that was apparently built after the disappearance, there's a group of independent investigators who used some device to search underground, even under concrete, and in one spot in the garage, they said they found three shallow graves, and three bodies, yet the police aren't talking. This group of people said the police sat on their hands and did virtually nothing for ten months after the disappearance. Not a lot of happy campers in town.

I've won 10 dollar ITunes gift card, and fifty dollars. Would love to get a plasma tv. I use Blingo almost exclusively, even for sites I've already bookmarked.

Jennifer Hagel-Smith and her husband George

Summary: Jennifer Hagel-Smith and her husband George were on their honeymoon cruising the Mediterranean when George came up missing after the honeymooners had a late night of partying with other cruise members.[
[Crews found a large blood spatter outside of the balcony of the Smith's cabin. George Smith's body was never recovered nor has the mystery been solved about what happened to George. Was it an accident or murder?
[Jennifer Hagel Smith was on Oprah yesterday. Did you get a chance to see her Jennifer gave me the chills on several occasions. She unnerved me and made me uncomfortable. I do not trust what she is saying to be the truth. I have no doubt about it, Jennifer Hagel Smith, in my personal opinion is withholding information. She knows more than she is letting on.
What information? Of course, I do not know. I am not a psychic. But I am certain she is not saying what she knows to be true
Here are parts of the interview and moments that give me big pause and concern:

1. Jennifer says she doesn't remember anything about that night. Yet when asked if she remembers her last interaction with George, she says this: " I do not remember the last...you know...words or time we saw each other. I remember vaguely leaving the casino and going to this revolving bar or something like that. I was around George and then I don't remember nothing."
1. Jennifer has selective memory. I find her pause weird "last...you know...words...". I do not believe this is a truthful answer.
2. Jennifer's responses are not what you typically would get from a person in her circumstances. And they don't seem normal for her, either. When Oprah says, "Your not the grieving bride." Jennifer says, "From day one this....has been...like shocking. As soon as I heard this news...I spend a day in Turkey...flying home to my family...by myself...on the plane...without George."
Does that answer make sense? Of course not. She isn't grieving. She is feeling sorry for herself, not George.
3. Jennifer was asked if she thought George was murdered. She says, "I think something happened to him. Yes (and she has an odd smirk on her face). George doesn't run into walls. He's very athletic."
Is that a logical answer? It's not. She should show emotion, an out pouring of concern, affection. She should be questioning things, wanting answers, begging for answers. But she doesn't. Perhaps she knows them?? That is how a person would respond who knows the answer.
4. Jennifer really enjoyed her conversation with the cruise director. She smiled outright several times talking about all the wrongs done to her by the cruise. She was very focused on herself. But most interesting is what Jennifer says was the most hurtful in all of this. Read for yourself. Jennifer says,"For example, I got home and then a week later I'm paying George's bills now and I get a bill from Royal Caribbean, a week after the cruise ends. Like our room bill."]She goes on..."Take care, take the time. We are people."That has been the most hurtful part through all of this.
The most hurtful part was getting the bill? What about George??? More than that, notice she is paying George's bills. They aren't hers. This is very odd. It shows separation in her mind, not a unity, a loving-memory of a unity. Most people when faced with a death cling to the unity, the specialness, the bond. You claim what you have left from the other person no matter how silly or trivial it is. Jennifer doesn't. She divides herself from him -- one week after he goes missing. For most people, even the discussion of being separated or having separate things, is too difficult.
5. When Jennifer was asked if it is true as others are saying that she and George had a fight that night, she replies, "I'm not saying one way or another." Why didn't she say that she can't remember???
6. Gayle, Oprah's friend asks Jennifer once they find blood in the room "Jennifer, you hear that and think what?"

Jennifer says, "That was it. Your life is over. That's it."
I ask "Whose life is over? Jennifer's? Was she thinking about herself? A normal response would have been devastation, concern about foul play, murder, etc. Jennifer didn't have that. This is a very peculiar answer. Not what normal people would say.
7. Jennifer tells the cruise executive she is mad that she has to pay for her flight home, that her dad had to wire her money so she could pay for things. Is this what a widow worries about? Didn't she worry at all about George? Who would care about the money at time like this?? Jennifer cares.
8. Further she says to the cruise executive, "Just to clear something up...it adds insult to injury every time people say that this is what we gave you. We did this...like someone said...we gave you magazines, we gave you CDs. Who? To me, it was kind of callous when I had heard that. My father was promised I'd be taken off the ship by two security officers...uhm...you know...he was...We were out of our minds and its unfair for people. That was a moment in time for us, that we will, that changed our life forever. So when people judge that moment and what we felt like. Yes, we were abandoned in many ways.
Jennifer talks the most logical during her whole interview in the beginning of this paragraph above. She was telling the truth, and her words flowed. Most of her interview with Oprah is full of stuttering, hesitations, word-searching except when Jennifer talked about the wrongs against her. People word-search, stutter, hesitate when they make up a story. When they are truthful, the story flows quickly, logically and sensibly.
9. Jennifer wanted an apology from the cruise executive and he finally gives it to her, and she said this isn't about me, it's about George. She grins when she says it. It's eerie!!!! I get the feeling that Jennifer loves being in the lime light.
10. Jennifer at one point says, "George and I became these sensational, like, blips...like nobody." This is extremely eerie. Did she want more attention??
11. Jennifer says "Everyone wants more from me, I want more from me." Huh? You only want more from yourself when you have more to give. Most wives would be saying they are doing all they can, could and will do to help figure this out -- out of respect for their husband. Not Jennifer.
Hopefully, in time, the truth will come out. I am confident that Jennifer knows more than she is letting on. She knows a lot more...

This story is so weird ....I have always thought the wife had something to do with this...like maybe she is holding back something... what do you guys think?? I think she definatly is holding back information. Poor guy what a way to go !! And also being a newlywed...I must say to the woman WTF ???? I mean honestly what is she hiding?? Also she already settled, and moved on with her life.

Yeah, she does seem like she's knows more then she is letting on to.I would of like to have seen the actual interview on Oprah, I can usually tell by facial expressions and body movements when somone is lying.

This story I have followed from day one. We cruise as a family, so when statements are made, that we know can not be true, we state questioning why.

One thing all of you must remember in not only this case, but all cases where you read, Passenger Falls Off Cruise Ship"

You CAN NOT fall off the ship. The ship has rails that are not only solid wood, but have plexiglass. They come to my chest, and I am 5 6

In order to get off the ship by rail, you would either have to climb on a chair, and throw your leg over, or someone would have to help you over.

This couple went on what should have been a romantic cruise, where they got very drunk, and had a fight in the middle of the casino.

She left with another man, to as she said, to make new hubby jealous, and hubby won big, and bragged about it loudly for many to hear.

Even after all this time, there are more questions than answers, and her relationship with her late hubby's family is not. They have been interviewed, and have said she will not take their calls.

She made lots of money on this death.

I think you can youtube it....I saw it when it was on tv and thought she seemed cold and also like she was just ready to move on and settle with the cruise ship...I would have held out Heather Mills style for more money thats for sure...my husband dissapears oh hell no!!! I would be haveing parades...foresnsic teams...billboards..candle light vigils.....Geraldo!!! Physici detectives...you name it....I also find it strange they were in a argument and eye witnesses say she was hanging all over one of the guys later seem leaving the room and he called he a slut( I mean I would too your on your honeymoon for Godsake)) and she kicked him in the groin a walked out in a huff....also one of the key susupects was heard saying Im not gonna let her take the fall for this..wtf dose that mean??? And passed out in the hallway...arrives and hour and a half before her massage?? Come on ladies after a drunken night passed out in a hallway whats the first thing we all would want to do??? Take a shower!!! I knowmy verty first thought would be..where is my new husband!!! And didint she get worried when he didint show up??? No she just continued her massage....thats were police found her......I dont think she murdered him...but I think she knows who did and I also think she may have caused it..flirting on your honeymoon...who dose that?? Drunk or not!!

13. #263
Lisamarie Guest
Yeah ...wouldent you want answers??? Rather than a cash settlemet that frees the cruise line of any wrong doing..also the parents are very upset with her as well...she stopped taking their calls shortly after she got the settlement.....thats to me says it all.....

She might not want answers if she already knew what happened.

If she was involved, you would think she would want to move on fast!!

This item just popped up on my homepage and I thought some of you might be interested. New names added to the list of the found and a might nice story about the volunteers of the Doe Network to boot:

By HELEN O'NEILL

(AP) Todd Matthews spruces up around the grave marker of "Tent Girl" is shown in the Georgetown Cemetery...

Tenn. (AP) - Four days a week Todd Matthews earns $11.50 an hour working for an automotive parts supplier. He punches in at 4:15 a.m., punches out nearly 11 hours later, then drives half a mile to his little beige house on a hill where, in the distance, he can glimpse the.
He spends the next seven to eight hours at his desk, beneath shelves lined with miniature plastic skulls, immersed in a very different world.
Their faces seem to float from his computer - morgue photographs, artist sketches, forensic reconstructions - thousands of dead eyes staring from endless as though crying out for recognition. John and Jane and Baby "Does" whose nameless bodies have never been identified.
His wife, Lori, complains that Matthews spends more time with the dead than he does with the living, including his two sons, Dillan, 16, and Devin, 6.

We had a family with 10 kids that lived a block away from us. All these kids had snow white hair and blue eyes and looked identical. They were all hard to tell apart you had to go by ages. Someone took the 3 yr old. from the front of the house. This was in 1950? They never found this kid. Then in 1985 a guy walked in a bar near where the kidnapping was done and the bouncer almost fell over. This guy and he looked like twins. He called his brothers to come to the bar. This poor man was in shock. Here he stood at a place he had never been before and there are 6 guys that all look exactly like him. After testing was done it was found to be the missing brother!
The people that had kidnapped him had died a few years before , if they kidnapped him, because he said he was legally adopted. Had papers to prove it but they turned out to be not quite legal. So the mystery is still there but the Hansons were glad to have their child back. Freaky tho the way it happened.

Tammy Lynn, Girl from Scarface....

Tammy Lynn Leppert

[
Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Missing Since: July 6, 1983 from Rockledge, Florida

Classification: Endangered Missing

Date Of Birth: February 5, 1965

Age: 18 years old

]Height and Weight: 5'4 - 5'5, 105 - 115 pounds

]Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Curly blonde hair, hazel eyes. Leppert may spell her first name "Tammi." She occasionally uses Tammi and/or Tami-Lyn as stage names.

Clothing/Jewelry Description: A blue denim skirt, a light blue shirt with flower appliques on the shoulders, and flip-flops.

]Medical Conditions: Leppert may have been three months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, but this has not been confirmed. She was apparently suffering from emotional problems at the time of her disappearance.

Leppert left her family's home in Rockledge, Florida at 11:00 a.m. on July 6, 1983 with a male friend. Her friend later told authorities that he and Leppert had an argument while driving and that he left her standing in a parking lot outside the Glass Bank near an Exxon gasoline station in the vicinity of State Road A1A between 2nd Street North and 3rd Street North in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Leppert carried a gray purse when she went missing. Many reports erroneously state that she was barefoot at the time of her disappearance. Her mother said she noticed Leppert had not combed her hair before leaving the house that day, which is very uncharacteristic of her; she usually spent considerable time on her appearance before going anywhere. At the time of her disappearance, Leppert was planning to go to California to act in some movies. She apparently never arrived there, ]

]Investigators looked into the possibility that Leppert was attacked by Christopher Wilder, a man linked to at least a dozen disappearances, rapes, murders and/or attacks of women in the early to mid-1980s. Photos of Wilder are posted below this case summary. He frequented the Florida region at the time of Leppert's disappearance. He sometimes attempted to lure young female victims by offering non-existent "modeling sessions" or other tactics, which would have fit well into a scenario involving Leppert. She was a relatively known model who had won several titles and was an occasional actress, landing bit parts in the films Scarface and Spring Break, and she wanted to be an internationally famous star.

Wilder, whose history of violence towards women went back to his adolescent years, was put on probation in 1980 after pleading guilty to attempted sexual battery towards a teenage girl. While on a visit home to Australia that same year, he was charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting two teenaged girls. His parents bailed him out of jail and he flew back to the United States, promising to return for his trial which was set for April 1984.

Wilder is a also a suspect in the Florida disappearances of Mary Opitz, Colleen Orsborn, Rosario Gonzales, and Elizabeth Kenyon. He was killed during a shootout with authorities in 1984. Leppert's family filed a one-million-dollar lawsuit against Wilder before his death, but dropped the suit afterwards. Leppert's mother, modeling agent Linda Curtis, later stated that she never believed Wilder was involved in Leppert's disappearance. Police have never been able to link Wilder and Leppert and it may be coincidence that she disappeared at the same time he was targeting area models. He had a long history of sex crimes but did not begin his killing spree until a year after Leppert vanished

]John Crutchley, the so-called Vampire Rapist, is also considered a possible suspect in Leppert's case. He received a life sentence in prison after kidnapping and raping a woman in Orlando, Florida and drinking her blood. Crutchley committed suicide in prison in 2002. He has never been linked to Leppert.

]Curtis criticized the police for allegedly mishandling the investigation into Leppert's disappearance. Police initially believed she ran away, and some continue to think that foul play was not involved in her case. Curtis said her daughter was afraid of the man who last saw her, and that the individual was never properly investigated. Authorities say they did the best they could to find Leppert and the man she was last seen with has been interviewed is not a viable suspect in her case.

On June 1, a month before Leppert vanished, she began acting erratically at her home. She yelled and screamed and broke a window with a baseball bat. Curtis took Leppert to a mental health center for a 72-hour observation after she calmed down. Psychiatrists there could not find anything wrong with her. Curtis planned to get a therapist for Leppert, but she disappeared before that could be arranged.

]Curtis believed that Leppert may have been kidnapped and murdered as a result of her knowledge of a large-scale drug and money laundering operation in Brevard, Florida. The operation allegedly involved many prominent local citizens. Leppert was reportedly afraid for her life because of what she knew. She stayed in her bedroom more than usual and refused to drink from open containers or eat from her own plate. Curtis claimed Leppert made a police report about what she knew, but investigators have no record of the report and do not espouse Curtis's theory.

Leppert's sister is still looking for her and believes her mother's theory about Leppert's disappearance. Curtis moved to Orlando, Florida after her daughter's disappearance. She in 1995.

The missing persons organization Child Protection Education of America states that Leppert had no cavities or fillings at the time of her disappearance; however, this is unproven. Her dental records have been lost. Some agencies incorrectly state that Leppert's home is in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Its just one little scene...I think the boyfriend did it. I dont buy the whole he just dropped her off story, also they think she may have been knocked up. I dunno....it could have been that other guy too.....Im not sure.Sad case though..and she is most likley dead I think.

Noo Noo!!! And acting crazy as hell...her role was suppose to be bigger but after her on set freak out she would not come out of her dressing room would not talk to anyone she thought she was being followed and people may have been trying to poison her, she kept saying she had seen something terrible.... she was sent home and thats why she is not listed in the credits at all.

I'm sorry but I am LOL at "little girl"! She was 18 when she disappeared which was in 1983, the same year Scarface came out.

So she was a teenager (17) when she filmed this movie??

PS I never heard this story and the only one I remember coming up to the car during the motel incident was a girl flirting with Manny. Was that the one?

Now I have to check out the movie again and take another peek at her.

Strange again about her disappearing. We had a young girl disappear from here in 1994 when she was 14. Her parents thought she went to FLA with some dude.

Last week, FLA officials confirmed that a decomposed body they found in a field that same year was her. WOW! The ME had not been able to ID her since she was so decomposed and had no ID on her. She died of a cocaine OD and the police figure the dude she ran away with threw her in the field after she died and he got scared.

There are many "does' out there that could be these missing people.

Thats what her mother said she kept saying was she had seen something horrible and they were after her...I mean this girl went from normal beuaty queen gonna go to hollywood and be a movie star to freaking out not leaving her house or her bedroom she wouldent touch her food cause she thought she was being poisened ...and then she got locked out if her home and broke the window and flipped!! They put her in a mental hospital for testing nothing came up...and then she just dissapeared......The part in Scarface is so fast and if your like me your so caught up with the OMG there gonna chop they guy up scene( no matter how many times I see it) I never noticed...but my pal Brian was an extra and he told me indeed thats her I think she is wearing a blue bikini....he also said she seemed like a nice normal girl and then she just lost it...Its such a sad case.....she was so beautiful.

Okay, if she's in a blue bikini, she's not the one I thought she was. I thought she was the one in the red bikini who Manny gets a little too handsy with.

I never knew she was in Scarface until I read this thread. I've followed her case on and off for years.

I never thought Christopher Wilder was a good suspect for this one. Timing was off.

Just in this morning. The father has been arrested in this case and the mother turned herself and the baby in to police, after a "third party" called her cell phone and persuaded her to do so:

I find the statistic at the end of the article heartening: it's the 12th time an Amber Alert has been issued in Massachusetts since it was instituted 6 years ago, and in all 12 cases, the children have been recovered safely!

Great thread idea!
The Yogurt Shop murder thread made me think of another crime that has stayed with me - but for some reason I can't recall the state, the names of the victims or if there was any update on this case.

All I can remember is that three people "went missing". Two high school girls and the mother of one of them. The girls graduated that evening and decided to have an impromptu sleepover.

Clues that the three were abducted - purses still in the house, makeup, all that jazz that people usually take if they decide to just go away. The house was not locked and if I remember correctly there didn't look like any struggle took place.

Dateline, 20/20 or Vanished did a report on it years ago. I don't ever recall hearing anything about whether they found them. The girls were so pretty (just like the Yogurt Shop murders) and Mom had no shady past or anything like that.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm recalling? I apparently don't have enough to google but I'm really hoping this case rings a bell with someone.

Oh and I'm not confusing this with the house fire that burned two high school students - this is completely different.[/quote

I'm sorry I know this very OT, but I saw the Squirrel Nut Zippers and loved them!

I thought it may have been someone they knew and then I started thinking maybe this was some twisted fuck who took a fancy to them...I mean rember girk at Yosemitie were all controlled by one man...he very well could have seen them taken note followed them home and got them as they were walking inside or even just knocked on the door...a gun held to a loved ones head...maybe it was more than one..I just feel for the mom. I hope there is justice in this world for assholes that do things like this.

thats so sad the one pic of the missing girl is on her graduation day you can see she has her robe on....so thats the day before she would be kidnapped and possibly murdered.....how sad..you know what else I find unsettling is the fact both these girls did not have much on I think it must have been a pool party or something...but that could have made them very attractive to any pervs that may have seen them.

very sad story....it amazes me that people can just go poof from this earth without a trace...here in Tn a girl named Leanne Green disappeared from her car when it ran outta gas and her brother walked to get some....there were scratches on the car they thought came from the rivets in her jeans but there has been no trace ever. Gives me chills

Missing person cases are some of the hardest for me to work with. There is always that question of "are they alive or not." The family never gets closure. It boggles my mind though that in this day and age people can just disappear and no one sees anything.
