19 Children, 2 Teachers killed in school shooting, Texas.

The gunman who massacred 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Texas had warned on social media minutes before the attack that he had shot his grandmother and going to shoot up a school, the governor said Wednesday.Salvador Ramos, 18, used an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle in the bloodbath Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. He had legally bought two such rifles just days before the attack, soon after his 18th birthday, authorities said.
About 30 minutes before the bloodbath, Ramos made three social media posts, Gov. Gregg Abbot said. According to the governor, Ramos posted that he was going to shoot his grandmother, then that he had shot the woman, and finally that he was going to shoot up an elementary school. https://www.yahoo.com/news/gunman-ki...062800636.html

The Shooter 18 year old Salvador Ramos. He also shot and killed his grandmother before going to the school.

I see that the husband of one of the teachers who was killed just passed from a heart attack. This just keeps getting worse. They had 4 children and they lost both parents in a couple of days.

If the rumors are right, why did the police wait so long
until they went in the school?

Just thinking the same thing .They have said they were waiting for specialist equipment ,for a hostage negotiator , etc etc ,and all the time the children were being shot .I read that the parents almost went in on their own ,such was their frustration .That he just walked into the school freely -where was the security ?

Beyond horrific. Video is now surfacing with parents yelling and screaming for the police to do something. I can understand their anger and frustration that nothing was done until it was too late. This will not go over well.

Not only that but why didn't the security guard who confronted him tackle him or something? There were no shots fired during that confrontation.

I have no idea what the rules are around going into a school in the USA , but I thought the doors were kept shut while the school was in session and you had to be buzzed in ?

I'm wondering about the laws in Georgia since I have nieces and nephews in pre-k, grammar, middle, and high schools. I've always been concerned about school safety, and had hoped that their mamas would home school them, but no.

I thought all doors were kept locked in schools also. All schools should have at least one Security guard! So heartbreaking.

A very good point, this should be seen on TV time and time again.

I watched the video of the parents urging the police to go in. I believe what was thought that it was a hostage situation and the police were trying to find someone to negotiate with him. Unfortunately, this was not the case and the shooter was in there killing the kids.

My niece Brittany said her boy's school kept their exterior doors locked at all times; visitors have to be buzzed in to gain access. Sissy just told me at dinner that a teacher propped a door open to run out to get something from her car, and the Texas took his chance.

Brittany just said that she read in some article that the shooter wrecked his truck out front and that a teacher propped a door open to run see if he was ok. She allowed as how that could be fake news. Both versions might be fake for all I know. Looks like one or the other would be plastered everywhere condemning the teacher, doesn't it.

Teacher did in fact prop door open but after she closed it, the door failed to automatically lock. The Texas Department of Safety is investigation why.
