Actor JOHN ERICSON who was the last living actor from the 1955 classic BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK has died at the age of 93. He made his first film 70 yrs ago. ERICSON had played in the stage version of STALAG 17 when he was noticed by a talent scout for M.G.M. He got a five year contract with the major studio and usually played second male leads, or supporting players.
Later audiences likely recall ERICSON for playing the right hand man of HONEY WEST for two seasons on ABC in the mid 1960s. Ironically ANNE FRANCIS the show's star had played his sister a decade earlier in BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK. ERICSON was also one of the first actors to bare all for PLAYGIRL in 1974.
