It's hard to imagine he was 89.
Dang - RIP, Buck.
I was laughing at his comedy writing before I knew who he was.
I remember one of the early "Samurai" SNL sketches when Belushi drew and slashed toward Bucks' forehead with his sword.
Buck froze with this stunned look on his face, Belushi froze too.
When they all came out on stage at the end of the show, Buck had a big bandage on his forehead.
A faulty hypothesis forming:
A German scientist using Iranian physics and French mathematics.
Bummer. He made me laugh for decades. Prolific addition to the art of comedy. RIP
He had his hands on a lot more than I knew. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0377750/
Stay in Drugs. Eat your School. Don't do Vegetables.
I remember one SNL sketch in particular that will most likely never be shown again: Buck as "Uncle Roy" the single guy who volunteers to babysit pre-pubescent girls. Amongst his "good deeds" while babysitting is his telling the girls to throw their dirty undies downstairs so he can do the laundry for mom and dad. Uncle Roy would then sniff and photograph the undies.
Buck was interviewed on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bhufPLUesg
I remember that one too, lol. Buck was one weird dude, but he was so damned funny. He was also one of SNL's first writers. In the early days, if a sketch was weird but hysterical, there was a 95% chance Buck wrote it. I think the five-timers jacket was his idea too. The whole premise back then was not one of prestige but of ridiculousness that such a thing deserved status.
.
There's a tribute to him on right now, and they're showing the samurai delicatessen sketch. w00t!
.
Another genius writer of comedy. His "Lord and Lady Douchebag" skit on SNL, was brilliant, roll on the floor, comedy.
Renowned Death Hag
Buck Henry's mom kissed Ben Turpin on the lips and was paid for it.
My favorite BH bit on SNL was when BH and Chevy rattled off euphemisms about dropping a deuce.
