I have never heard of a Magpie attack. But from the sign in story I guess they can be a bad bird.
Australia seems to be a thoroughly dangerous place.
Between the snakes, the drop bears, the crocodiles and the magpies; those guys probably just need to spend more time indoors.
Unless maybe they have venomous dust mites too.

The one critter I find Fugly in the States and cute as all get out in Australia is Possums.

Aussie possums probably have venomous barbs on their feet and lethal stingers on their tails.
They have to possess some kind of natural defenses.
