After reading the articles about Mariska and her biological father, I had to re-read the two books I have about Jayne. "Jayne Mansfield and The American Fifties" only mentioned Nelson Sardelli briefly. In May Mann's book it says that Jayne wanted to marry Nelson, then she found out he was already married. Then a few pages later, Viola! Mariska was born. Jayne was quoted several times as saying that she wished the speculation about who Mariska's father is, would stop. "It isn't fair!" , Jayne kept saying. She let the public believe all along that Mickey was the father. Damn, that "Born Out Of Wedlock" thing, back in the Fifties! I am sure there were plenty of children back then, who didn't know who their biological father ( and maybe even mother) was.
ETA: Does anybody have the biography by Raymond Strait? How credible do you think it is? When I read the review on Amazon it said that Jayne tried successfully to have a baby with Nelson, because she wanted an Italian baby. 1) Wasn't Nelson Brazilian? 2) If this was true, why was she telling everybody that Mariska was Mickey's baby?
"So many faces in and out of my life. Some will last, some will just be now and then. Life is a series of Hellos and Goodbyes, I'm afraid it's time for Goodbye again. "
