    Dr. G, Medical Examiner

I'm surprised no one has mentioned her before!

"People don't like dealing with decomposing bodies: they're green, they're bloated, and they smell."
I just love her. What a personality! She's geeky, intelligent, and almost hyperactive. And very, very compassionate.

Yes, they hide the blood and such. They don't show when she's cutting things open and such, but you do get the gist of what she's doing. And she explains EVERYTHING she's doing which makes it quite the learning experience.

They need to do an uncut version where they show all the blood and stuff!!

I really like the show but its just not the same as hearing about it as opposed to seeing it!!!

I agree Danny. I would rather see it too but just to hear what she has to do to find out what they die of, is interesting. Maybe she can come out with a DVD: DR. G uncensored & uncut!

For the first couple of shows they did show the real deal...seriously....people about shit their pants, so after that everything was " sanitized "......I`m a freak for Dr. G.......I`m still trying to find the first few episodes without the blackout crap, but they to have to have been wiped out......

Yeah those fake pics don't do it for me! Then you can hear the saw going cutting into the people but they got the thing blocked out like some cable Porno movie!!! LOL

See I never have heard that before! Wouldn't the family have to sign some kind of release or something to show that?

I know in Jr. High we toured a funeral home and it was against the law to show a dead body! We did get to see the embalming room. Hell back then I must have been a death hag I was hoping to see some action!!

The concept of the show was totally different, although Dr. G was the same....it was meant to be educational in more than a santized way....the disclaimer in the beginning stated the families gave their full permission.....I guess cable wasn`t ready for it yet.....I was quite disapointed when I tuned in to the black-outs weeks later....

I've watched it off and on, since I've been working at the funeral home. The first time I saw an autopsied body, I wondered why her chest was caved in. 2 weeks later, I was watching the show, and found out why.

I am really not surprised. Alot of people have a problem with death and watching that kind of stuff!

They still should have had two different episodes so you could watch the sanitzed or the gory verison!!

I watch it but like I say the gore part is missing so its not as interesting!!

She does seem like a kick ass ME though!!!

    Not to bad looking either!!

I remember seeing it with the blood and gore. Now I stopped watching it because there's no gore. Just those dumb foggy shadows.

I love Dr. G. If I had the stomach for it, I'd be studying to be a medical examiner instead of a forensic psychologist. She seems like such a down-to-earth lady who isn't afraid to say she's stumped. I love the compassion she shows the families as well.

A few things about the show being sanitized. I read somewhere, and it could be wrong, that the law in her state prohibits it being more graphic than it is. It could also be that the families of the deceased denied permission to show the actual autopsy. That has to be respected, it is their loved one after all. If it's a law, then it has to be followed. I don't look down at the people who want to see more of the graphic side, I'm just not one of them. That's fine, it takes all kinds of people. I wouldn't want my loved one autopsied on cable TV either truth be told.

Interesting show. Dr. Michael Baden on HBO's "Autopsy" is pretty cool, too. They haven't been airing any new shows. Maybe he's done?
I'm a librarian and I had a patron who was wearing a local forensics team jacket. He is a forensic odontologist (dentist who examines dead people's teeth). He knows Baden and Henry Lee--says both drive like maniacs.

Her show hides death, the reality is missing. I at first thought this show would be kewl but since they blur out the bodies and dont show wtf she is doing. Her show is fake , reality is seeing death is all its post-mortom glory

I love Dr. G, too. I liked the earlier shows, when they didn't use an actress to play Dr. G, better. I like the Dr. Baden shows also.

I love Dr. G too. She seems like a cool person to work with. I also like the fact that she explains things in plain simple terms so you aren't guessing what the hell she's talking about. It' be totally cool to follow her around and Dr. Baden as well.

I like Dr G too. Her show is good and pretty true to life. I work as a Medical Examiners Investigator and her show captures a lot of the work that goes on in this field.

The main reason that they do not show the real bodies is out of respect for the families and for legal reasons. Most of her cases are from months and years earlier also.

    Dr. G. Medical Examiner

Anybody familiar with this show? It's on Discovery....and TLC. I caught it last night during a bout of insominia.

It's like a real-life CSI. Female coronor tries to determine cause of a suspicious death based on autopsy results. They show the actual bodies... last night's episode had one that had been burned to a crisp in a car fire (I know...gross), but you don't get to see her actually cut into them (I know...gyp).

Just found this show on the Justice Channel recently and have been watching it every day (since they show two episodes a day). Every once in a while they'll show an actual death scene photo here and there. I think they also sneak in actual footage of the person they are working on also. Apparently her show ran until 2012. She retired in 2015 and moved to WA with her (second) husband once her boys went off to college.

I used to watch her all the time. I have AT&T now and I don't think they have the channel. What an interesting career pkstracy, I am on my 13th Patricia Cornwell book, are you familiar with her? I worked for our local District Attorney for many years and Dr. Henry Lee was a good friend of my boss. I met him once when he came to our office to consult with my boss on a case, and I happened to have a Cornwell/Scarpetta book on my desk and when he saw it he took off his lapel pin that says Dr. Lee, Medical Examiner and gave it to me along with his business card. I got interested in forensics far too late in life for me but I find it intriguing.

Bayou, Yes I am familiar with Patrickia Cronwell, I cannot get into her books. That is very cool that you got to meet Dr. Lee. I do try to read what I can on forensics, keep myself educated and such, I do chat once in awhile with the Medical Examiner I worked for, they keep asking me when will I be ready to come back.
