Not a country music fan, I thought. He was dead already.
Anyway, RIP
I liked him. I was raised on C&W. He ways always funny as all get out on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He could sing so pretty then intentionally crack people up with his stuttering. RIP, Mel.

I knew he was getting "up there"! As many times as I've been in Ocala, I always hoped I would some day run into him. Once again, its the death of a real talent in real country music which is far, far above and beyond what is marketed as "country music" today!
I didn't know he was still alive, tbh. When I told my husband about this, he said, "M-m-m-mel Tillis?"

Not a big C&W fan but I also always liked Mel. RIP Mel Tillis.
Liked his interviews...he seemed like a nice person. RIP.
Elizabeth Cook posted pictures where she opened shows for him when she was like 11 years old. She mentioned that his band would back her as a kid some. She also noted how back in the day, Pam had a punk band. Now that would have been interesting.
I was never a huge fan but he made his mark. RIP.
As someone else who has a bad Stutter, RIP
Mel.
