So sad to hear about his passing. He was a great actor and looked younger than 72.

That is sad, here is the link below to the story and more details.
John Heard, the beloved star of several huge 80s and 90s movies, died Friday in Palo Alto, CA ... TMZ has learned. Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time ... but police do not suspect foul play.
We do know this ... according to his rep, John had "minor back surgery" Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered.

I am guessing he got a blood clot or something, he just had back surgery.

Always leery when I hear someone in the public eye whom I admire just had "routine minor" surgery then drops dead. 72 is not all that old in this day and age. Loved his indie roles in films like Cutter's Way, Chilly Scenes of Winter and After Hours. R.I.P. kind sir, you had incredible range as an actor.

I've had back surgery twice. When I was much younger. Surgery is harder on you the older you get. I wonder how much the anesthesia had to do with it? From experience I know they put you WAY down for it. Can't have you twitch when a scalpel, or laser, close to you spinal cord. I guess we will find out after the autopsy. R.I.P.

This is what happens when hospital costs are so out of control (or sanity) that a back operation is considered an outpatient procedure, and a patient with no family at home to help him convalesce uses a hotel for his recovery room. (Also doesn't help that his son died last year.)

Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness.

This was a shocking death to me...and so sad he was alone. So many great movies. Loved him. May he RIP. Think I'm going to load up a couple of his movies this week.

Great actor, but not too nice in his personal life to his ex-wives and kids.
