    Anton Yelchin

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...-car-crash-at/

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Anton Yelchin, a charismatic and rising actor best known for playing Chekov in the new “Star Trek” films, has died at the age of 27. He was killed in a fatal traffic collision early Sunday morning, his publicist, Jennifer Allen confirmed.
Yelchin started small with roles in indie films and various television shows, before breaking out in films like the crime thriller “Alpha Dog” and the teenage comedy “Charlie Bartlett.” His biggest role to date has been in the rebooted “Star Trek” films - the third of which, “Star Trek Beyond” comes out in July.
Yelchin, an only child, was born in Russia. His parents were professional figure skaters who moved the family to the United States when Yelchin was a baby. Yelchin’s family requests privacy at this time.
TMZ says it wasn't a car collision but a freak accident

Actor Anton Yelchin, known for his roles in "Star Trek" and "Alpha Dog," was killed early Sunday morning after getting pinned by his own car ... TMZ has learned.Yelchin's friends became alarmed because he was supposed to meet them hours earlier for a rehearsal. They went to his San Fernando Valley home at around 1 AM and found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, which was attached to a security gate.
Law enforcement tells us the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. The driveway was on a fairly steep incline. It's unclear why he got out of the car.
Cops do not suspect foul play.

    Yelchin was 27.

This one bums me out. He seemed like a nice young Man and his Star, no pun, was on the rise. Horrible way to die. RIP Mr. Chekov.

I'm not much for Star Trek, never have been. I remember seeing him in the remake of Fright Night with Colin Farrell and Toni Collett.

TMZ took pictures of the driveway and fence where he died at, driveway was on a slant, he drove out of the gate got out walked back to the gate then the Jeep rolled back into him with so much force that it bent the metal gate.

This one really bums me out. I liked him. Left behind an amazing body of work for a 27 year old. Anton still has four more movies coming out. He had finished production on them I believe.

Thanks, Scott. I'm editing this to remove "That last pic is chilling" because at the time I had read he was crushed against his "bricked" mailbox, when it was actually, obviously the security gate.

Good pics Scott. Second one shows the stress from impact very well. I'm thinking death was not as quick as people are hoping.

Thanks, Scott, for the detailed pics. I was curious about that hinge/joint in the fence. Sadly, another addition to the tour. Really loved Anton as young Reese in the Terminator film. He had the chops...and the look.

Same here. I had images of him slowly suffocating. Poor guy. So young. What a terrible way to die. Apparently those Jeeps had been recalled before because of rolling away when people thought they were in park.

My older brother was killed in a similar accident in 2011. His car was on a hill, handbrake not engaged properly, and it started rolling back. He stupidly tried to stop it from behind and was crushed by the wheels. We were told he went very quickly too. I'm thankful for poor Anton that he went just as quick.

I haven't been on this site for a super long time but I just had to come on and say how tragic this particular celebrity death is to me. Not sure why, but although they confirm his death was quick, it's scary to think about even if he had at least one second of recognition of what was going on. I had a less severe near death experience from suffocation, & even just a few seconds of being cognitive, the fear was undescribable. I was thankful I survived but I can still vividly remember that particular fear, esp during suffocation. To reiterate, he died super quick(though, to me, some of Scott's pictures seem that it was less quick but I'm not an expert obviously) Anyway, I only remember him from Alpha Dog & an episode of Criminal Minds(his acting was amazing in that episode). I actually found out about this a mere few weeks ago after visiting my mom, making me wonder what rock I've been living under. Again, very sad & very young. I don't believe closure exists with a traumatic death, esp for parents, just a super slow process of acceptance. And apologies if my response on here seems silly or stupid.

Omgosh, I had no idea he died! My son had the same thing happen with his car, he got out to close the gate, the car jumped into reverse, backed up and hit him and threw him back a few feet. If he had been standing a few feet over, the car would have slammed him into the fence. The fence stopped the car from running over him. Total nightmare, I was a nervous wreck! So was he, but he was alright.

    This is just unbelievable.
