    RIP Joan I really liked her.
    The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.

    Comedian and entertainer Joan Rivers died on Thursday at the age of 81.

    "My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon," her daughter Melissa said in a statement.
    On Tuesday, the family confirmed she was on life support at Mount SinaiHospital in Manhattan after going into cardiac arrest last Thursday.
    The 81-year-old comic and red-carpet commentator maintained a busy career as host of "Fashion Police" on the E! network and, with her daughter, a co-star of the WEtv reality show, "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?"

    She died at 1:17 p.m. ET at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, the family said in a statement.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I feel like this was totally avoidable and should never have happened. Unbelievable.
    Shame because it didn't have to happen. It wasn't a natural death. If it's found out some idiot gave an 81 yr. old annastesia sp? that is.
    I was truly hoping she would kick this in the butt. She was a firecracker right till the end and I would think that is just the way she would have wanted it. Thanks for all the laughs over all those years. R.I.P. Joan.
    To my Father. Even though you have crossed the plane, you will always be with me.
    You were not just my Father, but my hero. My life has been a poor attempt to be like you
    You taught me music, vocals, and how to fight. I can only hope I am half the man you are
    When I close my eyes I can see you. And finally, Thank you Dad. for everything.
    I didn't always agree with what she said but she stood by her words and refused to back down, something you don't see much of today.
    I feel for Melissa right now. As much as they argued, you could see the close bond between them.
    Propofol is commonly used in anaesthesia, and it is also used for medically induced comas....and famously the drug that killed Jackson.
    From what I understand from the Radar article is they sent her under for the operation, she developed cardiopulmonary complications (which can happen in older patients) and never really awoke properly.
    This can happen in older patients. As propofol is measured out by the patient's weight it is very unlikely to be some form of overdose. More likely her heart and lungs just could not take it.
    I am really sad about this. She was brilliant in the Apprentice.
    She so loved her grandson and he so loved her. This will hurt him the most. She loved doing shit with him to get Melissa pissed off. How do you go to the doctors in pretty good condition for a routine surgery thinking your coming home the same day and a week later you get wheeled to the morgue? This is just not right!
    That is exactly why I liked her so much. Sure she said things that angered many people, but she never back peddled on anything. She stood by her words. Very rare indeed these days in our politically correct charged times. At least if someone didn't agree with what she said, she stood by it with conviction. Very smart, funny lady.
    Thanks Benion. That makes me wonder if this surgery was worth the risk. It was for vocal cords? Wouldn't rest have solved the problem? Wasn't it just an endoscopy? Is propofol usually used for that? Couldn't a much lighter anesthesia been used? I have no idea on this stuff.
