I believe this one is from the grounds of the Banff Springs Hotel where Marilyn stayed while filming River of No Return a very physically challenging role. She's obviously not enjoying the down time. While the Banff Springs was and is a luxurious Chateau resort, there's not much to do except commune with nature. Hard to hike with an sprained ankle like that. The nearest civilization was Calgary ( man, me as a born Edmontonian is it hard for me to type that!) and hour and a half away by automobile with a population of just over 100,000 and remember this was 1953 so women were only allowed entry into bars and lounges with a male escort. I doubt there was TV in her suite.
Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed.
By the way, there is I read some idiot on the webwho claims Marilyn was evicted from the Banff Springs for "lewd dress". I suppose that's why they continue to display a photo of her in a prominent place in the hotel.

I believe she was faking the injury to piss off Otto Preminger who'd called her a ho in a round about way after she was having trouble doing the stunts on River of No Return. She nearly drown in one scene.
Drs found no breaks in xrays the next day and suggested it was a sprain. Anyway, supposedly Otto settled down and Joe Dimaggio came and whisked her away for a few days while she "healed". Probably trying to keep her away from Robert Mitchum, he was such a hunk in those days.
I've never heard of her being evicted from anywhere for lewd dress, that's just crazy!

Here's some juicy rare pics of Marylin. These were taken in the mid-1940's. I have big files of these and on close examination I could NOT detect six toes on any of her feet. Maybe that report of a toe removal was a subterfuge for another medical procedure that was too personal to relate.
