There's no live coverage! Someone on heard on a police scanner (CNN) that there were lots of Firefighters down.
the DH says, according to what he is hearing...the NH is on fire...(I can't imagine), an apartment building is collapsing... they are calling for several counties to send firetrucks..
hazmat is on scene....they are calling for the bomb squad.
small blurb online.....a small fire earlier today at this plant....WHAT

Holy crap. That is insane.
This Dallas station has been doing a live thing, with a video feed. I've been hopping back and forth between CNN and WFAA. I'm liking WFAA better.

How awful! They said the blast registered on a Richter Scale. I feel so bad for that poor kid in the video.
Creepy right? Even creepier, it happened one day after the 66th Anniversary of the Texas City fertilizer plant explosion, which was the worst industrial accident in U.S. history. 581 people died in that one with more than 5,000 injured. Ugh. Fertilizer.

Here is a working damage map that is being updated by reddit. Click on the icons for info on each. I can't believe that the town's fertilizer plant was surround by the intermediate, middle, and high schools.

Also, any Texas hags (or others for that matter) that would like to help by housing displaced victims can click on one of these.(let me know if this is against the rules and I'll delete them)

A fire at a Texas fertilizer plant led to a huge explosion... Many feared dead and search and rescue are in recovery mode. They are saying it was an accident, but they are going to continue the investigation.
Here is a video of the fire turned deadly explosion: http://www.ktrh.com/pages/michaelber...ticle=11201544
This is a small Texas town and probably most everyone who lives there works for this plant in some fashion. It is going to be devastating for all involved - homes were leveled for blocks and lives will never be the same.
Prayers for everyone involved.

I do not wish to derail this subject and I will not pursue this topic here, but I will note that this is my one and only argument against making pot legal. Our current inability to determine the level of influence.
Where I work if it exploded it would make this look like a firecracker and I want to make sure those working around me are as straight headed as possible.
And this is why I stop in West for kolaches whenever I'm on my way to/from Austin.

The Czech ambassador to the United States is traveling to the town devastated by the fertilizer plant explosion that's killed as many as 15 people and injured more than 160.
Ambassador Petr Gandalovic is scheduled to arrive Thursday in West, which has an honorary consulate in recognition of the significant number of residents in the area with Czech heritage.
Martin Pizinger, spokesman for the Czech embassy in Washington, says Gandalovic "would like to support the community in their time of sadness." Pizinger says the ambassador intends to personally express the support of the Czech Republic.
Gandalovic, ambassador since 2011, has visited West before.
Pizinger says the explosion has dominated headlines in the Czech Republic.

In regards to the YouTube video where the guy is sitting in his truck watching it burn right before it explodes...who thinks that going to film a fertilizer plant burning is a good idea? He was effectively sitting in a field not far from a giant bomb. Geezus.

Exactly... Not particularly sure what that has to do with anything.. The cause of the fire that lead to the explosion probably won't be released for quite some time. So to make the assumption that a person was to blame, particularly one that was on drugs, is a bit of a stretch....
I hope those idiots realize that probably 90% of everyone that will attend every single one of those funerals owns a gun.

That's why they surround themselves with their children during their pickets.
I have zero problems with people who smoke pot in general. I've smoked my fair share. It's no different than alcohol, you will have a small segment that can not participate in a safe and responsible manner. That says nothing about the vast majority that can and will.
With the cost of that one who can not being so high, until we can measure influence I am not wanting to take that risk.
As it is, if you smoke pot and sell houses, meh, I don't care.
West is very small in population, less than 3000, basically straddling I-35 north of Waco. It's a typical small Texas farming community and I'd venture to guess they have no zoning laws. It's small enough that during the first presser this morning there, which was held in some type of metal barn, cattle bawling was plainly heard and I also heard one rooster crow.
Ditto on the cows and rooster.

God almighty damn!
They just said on the news that the plant didn't have the state mandated sprinkler system it was required to have..
