Explosion at the finish line of the Boston Marathon

I was watching the finish line with my fellow NKOTB sisters, because Joe Mac ran his first marathon today (He ran in honor of his mother who has Alzheimers, and finished in just under 4 hours! So proud! I've loved that guy since I was like 4 years old!). About 5 minutes after he crossed the finish line two bombs went off

Listening to the news conference right now. They just reported that there was an explosion at the JFK Library, but they're not saying it's related. They're just calling it a third explosion.

All I can say is thank goodness! The marathon tragedy itself is bad enough.

Families trying to locate loved ones can call 617-635-4500; people with tips can call 1-800-494-TIPS. Pass on this info if you wish.

Now they are saying the JFK incident is related, calling it the third bomb.

Total confusion, as you would expect.

What the heck is going on in this world? Why is there so much hate? I just don't get what these fanatics think they're proving. I'm not one to wish people would burn in hell, but god, I hope that whoever did this burns in hell.

My sister-in-law is a marathonner/triathlete, and she was supposed to be running Boston today, but an injury prevented it. Thank goodness she wasn't there. But so many people injured, and at least 2 dead. The NY Post link above says 20 are dead, but I hope it's not that many.

I am finding much of my info via twitter.
I have a tweet that says "total number of injuries reported: 49. of the 22 at Massachusetts General Hospital, 6 are listed in critical condition, 5 serious."

As I said before, I was following the whole race because Joey McIntyre was running today (big NKOTB fan! Loved Joe literally my entire life), and there were many of my BlockHead Sisters there cheering him on. We all have a love affair with Boston (for obvious reasons lol), so pretty much my entire timeline is about Boston right now. We are all just on total edge because Joey's time was 3:57, and the bombs went off at 4:09. Joe and all the fans that were there cheering him on (my BH sisters) were 12 minutes away from being right there next to the explosions......

This is unreal...They are saying now that the 'explosion' at JFK library was not an explosion but a fire that is totally unrelated to the Marathon.

There are actually people around the neighborhood complaining about shows being pre-empted by the Boston Marathon explosion coverage. SERIOUSLY! People are dead/seriously injured and a bunch of idiots are worried about their soaps and talk shows? GET A CLUE!!!

I have a feeling the Westboro crazies will eventually weigh in on what happened in Boston too.

Seriously, at 5:30 in the afternoon? It's not exactly like you'll be missing some "edge of your seat" primetime programming. What is on right now. Springer? Whopner? Judy?

That and finding the one(s) who did this.

Prayers for the safety of your ex Lisa and all the rest of us that are connected to people there. What hits me the most is what a TRIUMPH running a marathon is supposed to be. For many, completing the Boston Marathon was a really big dream, and to have this happen....... my words are gone. All I have left is yuck.

Lisa they are saying to text people instead of calling that it might work because it uses less bandwidth. I hope you are able to get to him and he is ok.

Amazing video of both explosions (there is a small amount of gore, but nothing to horrendous). Its the raw footage of one of the videos they are showing on the news, with the audio included. Worth watch just to hear how loud the explosions were...

A few of us on another site were discussing some of the craziest things happened in April:

    Lincoln assassination
    Sinking of the Titanic
    Virginia Tech shootings
    Waco
    Oklahoma City bombing
    Columbine shootings
Spree killer Richard Baumhammers going bat shit crazy on April 28, 2000 in Pittsburgh, killing five people and leaving one paralyzed.
    Now the Boston Marathon bombings

This is getting wayyyyyyy too scary. o_O

This is just unbelievable. Prayers to all those and their families affected by this horrid event.

For me, the most powerful image I've seen so far are of some soldiers rushing to the aid of victims. One literally ran into the chaos of the scene of the exlosion while 2 other soldiers were yanking those metal racks off of people.
