put Grandma on suicide watch, she talked those kids into seeing the dad.
put Grandma on suicide watch, she talked those kids into seeing the dad.
so very sad fo those little guys. one of them said something about their mom was in the mines but never came back yikes! He totally killed his wife i bet he has some severe issues (duh!) i mean look at what his father did, there has to be some deep dark shit going in there heads. Does he have any brothers or sisters? Where they abused by there pervert dad i wonder (not excusing it).
Oh, all my prayers are going out to Grandma and Grandpa... the sad thing is, they thought they were doing the right thing in allowing the boys to see their father. They probably thought they'd be safe with someone with them. I can't imagine the pain of doing what you believe is the right thing to do, only to have it turn out so horribly wrong...
I wonder if he had planned on killing whoever showed up with the kids, or would he have just prevented the person from getting into the house in any way possible? He doesn't seem like someone who would have balked at killing a social worker if he had to - he seemed to be determined that those little kids were going to die.
This was an extremely premeditated crime. He started planning this from the day he found out that his inlaws would still have custody of the boys until he had undergone the exams and polygraph relating to the extreme child porn found on his computer. He had donated the boy's clothes and toys to Goodwill days before the murders and left instructions for a cousin and pastor on how to access his money and other instructions relating to what needed to be done after his death. He waited until right before the fire to email the instructions to the people he sent them to. Since he had everything well planned, why in the world would he intentionally decide to use a hatchet on these little boys before they burned up in the fire? Did he know they had been talking to people about the night their mom disappeared and chose the hatchet as a punishment for telling things about him? Since he was so determined to kill them, even a gunshot would have been quicker and more humane than a hatchet and burning them to death. It just seems like to me that he would have had a lot of anger towards them to kill them in such a painful way. What an evil beast he was.
I'm watching that interview this pig's father gave about how Susan "came on" to him and seriously, this guy needs to be taken out. I don't care if the old fuck can or can't be fixed, he isn't worth trying. Then they asked the pig what he thought about his dad's allegations and he said, "Susan was very flirtatious..."
Interesting to hear people now speculating on whether the pig's father might have had a role in the covering up of her murder or even in the murder itself. What monsters were this swine and his father, and how right the death penalty would be if they could prove the FIL's involvement. And if they can't, they need to ensure he stays in jail... as Duster would say, "and melt the key."
That caseworker is damned lucky she didn't get in that house today, because this plan was gonna go down. To take her life wouldn't have bothered this pig a bit -- Jesus, look what he did to his own babies.
His voice mail where he's saying "goodbye" how he "couldn't live without [his] sons" -- my God, how calm he was. Just listening to that, and knowing what he was about to do... I was thinking, "So that's what evil sounds like."
In every picture of those boys now, my eyes automatically go to those little necks and ... and you know, the thoughts of a blade against them is absolutely horrific. Jesus.

Excellent point, Mammy.
If he just couldn't live without them or thought they'd be better off dead than with him, why choose to -- well, to do THAT? Sounds like he tried to behead them, which . . . besides burning to death, would be the worst way to go. And he did both!
I gotta think this was personal. They were not infants. They were talking, one even drawing, what happened the last night they saw their mother. He did it because they remembered.

Yeah, you know, I've spent the last hour or two reading everything on that site.
Is it just me, or did they find the most unflattering pictures EVER taken of Susan for that site "for" Susan? And it's all about "when Susan left her family" -- God it just pissed me off. I have no idea why I kept reading... fascinating in it's dumbassery.
Here they are, heads so far up their own arses they can barely form a sentence, with their crackpot accusations about Susan and pretty much just trying to ruin her name any way they can.
And now he (father-pig Powell) is in jail for being the perv he is, and their "innocent" son just offed himself and those kids he was "always planning ways of entertaining." He sure planned a dandy activity this time, huh? The karma, it's rich.
You'd think they'd take that site down now... surely they will soon. I have no sympathy whatsoever for them. And you'd have to be an absolute pig for me not to sympathize when your own son kills himself and his children, but yeah... not an ounce.

I think what he was "sad" about was that they were remembering. And talking. He knew he was through (and he was right) and he had to take one more jab at the Cox family. God, he took everything, everyone, from them.
It's so sickening now, to hear his voice (think they played that voice message enough times on NG?) He sounds like a whiny child, all about what he can and can't deal with, it's all about him. He didn't spare a word as to why he had become God and therefore had a right to take those children's lives.
Nancy should've used her C.Anthony line tonight, for it would've fit perfectly: "The devil is dancing tonight!"

it's gross the way he makes her sound so bad on that website.
"Susan never held back when it came to purchases at the beauty supply. Of course, Josh has always been happy to support Susan's efforts in any way he could. Josh suggested that she turn it into a real business and he offered to teach her accounting basics. Josh is a Quickbooks Certified Pro Advisor and has a degree in Business Administration."

fucking god*&^%% asshole. Selfish prick..hope he's frying in hell

Absolutely vomit worthy.
That entire site was about him & how great he was. Absolutely repulsive.
I heard on the news this morning the social worker called 911 bc he wouldn't let her in the house. They couldn't anyone unless it was a "real" emergency. She was on the phone for seven minutes.
That website really was vomit worthy. My gawd! Who the hell was that other guy would they named as a suspect? WTH?
Cindy
They'd been trying to make people believe she ran off with that random guy & left her kids to be with him.
If I was that guy, I'd be suing.
Cindy
Apparently he's missing too. But I do not believe there is any connection.
They said on the news it is a textbook response. But it's pretty obvious that should be changed. So many kids die bc calls for help go unanswered.
Yes, it probably is but this dude was already known...Should have been more like 7 seconds. Police should have been parked out front everyday for that nutjob. I have heard so many 911 calls that make you want to cringe due to the delays, incompetent dispatchers etc. etc. Just plain ol' sucks.
oh. my. fucking. god.
up here your child could dial 911 as a prank and they would send someone.
this happened to my friend and she got on the phone and apologized and said there was no emergency and the police came anyways in case there was someone there making her say that.
a whole lot of people and red tape let those children down. they are dead because of 'policies'.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
This is what I don't get. The social worker worked for the state. She explained the situation, including who she was, and from listening to her, she was obviously scared for the kids. I know I'm playing the Monday morning quarterback here, but I would think this call didn't have the prank vibe to it.
Cindy
Just the mention of gas and Josh Powell should have been enough for them to get someone there immediately.
Horrible and they should have listened to the little guy when he said mommy was in the trunk. Knowing right there that daddy killed her, kids wouldn't like about things like that. Sad he had to take his sons out with him. Those babies didn't deserve any of it. WHile those little angels will be in Heaven, their dad will be in hell.
yeah, I mean... they didn't have much of a choice I don't think. It was a court ordered visit, she shouldn't feel at all responsible or guilty.
I was thinking what if one of the kids forgot something from the car as the other got to the door. Was his plan so precise where any delay would have screwed things up? just sucks it all went as planned and the jerkoff won.
he would have killed the social worker for sure, if she was the first to get to the door and the gasoline smell didn't cause her to run... she would have been locked in there with them.
I think the hatchet may have been his way of helping them from the pain of the fire but with them freaking out and him being exposed to the fumes, flames, etc... his aim and precision was off.
Guest
I think he cared in his own warped way. He knew he was fucked and had to either skip town, die or go to jail while somebody else raised his kids. It was too much to his ego/pride. He viewed the kids as his possession and I really believe the hatchet was his way of "easing the blow". But who really knows, it's all speculation.
I'm brand new to the site but this is the first thread I zeroed in on...this whole thing is so tragic. Twisted, sick narcissist. I wish he had spared his children and taken his dad with him instead.

I saw on tv that the caseworker was right there at the door. She said the kids went in, jerkoff looked her right in the face and closed the door on her. She started banging on the door and called 911.
*two cents*

That website about Susan made me madder than hell. They did seem to use the most unflattering pictures of her possible and really tried to make her sound unstable and made it look like she abandoned her family with this missing man who just happened to disappear close to when she did. His family should consult an attorney about the claims on that site and trying to use their missing loved one as a handy distraction instead of focusing on Josh. You would think Josh was Jesus himself the way he was bragged about on there. It was sickening. I thought it was tasteless to trash Josh's sister, Jennifer, and her husband on there the way they did. I guess the family couldn't deal with the fact that not everyone believed all of the ridiculous lies. The site also made rude and hateful remarks about Susan's parents every chance they got. It was all immature and childish.
LadyLuck, welcome to the forum! I agree with you that it is a shame that Steven Powell wasn't in the house with Josh instead of the boys. He's a total creep and obviously Josh inherited that trait.
Oh, you just know she will. That website is a disgrace and I hope it is taken down in light of recent events. It's really interesting how she managed to abandon her family while she was in the trunk of the car and discarded in a mine.
I heard this morning that he witthdrew 7-grand from the bank and donated all the kids toys and books. creepy fuck!
you can hear some of the 911 call from this news report
http://www.breitbart.tv/haunting-911...well-children/
ITA. Pretty warped, but now that the boys were talking, he couldn't simply off himself because the kids would reveal Daddy was guilty, and what on earth would people think of him *then*? Instead, gotta cover tracks and kill the boys, too. Now everyone knows he was an innocent party and thinks the world of him. ?!? As for his notes regarding what to do with his money, effects, etc., more egomania. You're DEAD. And stuff will happen to your stuff. And the world will continue rotating. He couldn't even get over himself while he was planning to kill himself!!!
Maybe Extreme-Kiddie-Porn Grandpa will say a little something about where Susan might be. Though I hope no one lets him cut a deal for leniency.
This case is, IMHO, the worst in the last ten or more years that I've heard.
"We've had threads about guys fucking picnic tables, animals and dead bodies. Third boob ain't going to stop a damn thing." - cleanskull
hearing that social worker say she heard one of the kids crying inside really got to me, those final seconds were so traumatizing for those poor boys... sad as all fuck.
Investigating the 911 response (took 20 min from the time they were called till the cops showed up): http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/09/justic...html?hpt=hp_t3
Cindy
I don't think it would have matter if they arrived in 5 minutes. The only chance those kids would have had is if the cop drove them to the house personally instead of the social worker.
Josh's father, Steven Powell, has now become a person of interest to the Utah police. Given the mental illness within the Powell family, it's highly probable, Josh suffered from both depression and untreated schizophrenia.
Hoping Judy and Chuck Cox continue to receive loving support from friends and family as well as counseling.
