John Nero, Patrol Unit, Officer Hebert

Beaumont, TX --- A capital murder warrant has been issued for John Wesley Nero, 30, for the intentional death of Officer Bryan Hebert, 36.

Nero had assaulted his mother and grandmother after they caught him viewing child porn. They were upset, he became enraged, and warned them he would "kill everyone" if they called the police. He then took off in his SUV. He returned a few hours later and police were called back. Nero took off before they arrived for the second time. Police soon located him behind a Kohl's department store. The chase was on.

Officer Hebert had stopped his patrol car ahead of the chase and was in the process of removing stop spikes from the trunk. Approximately seven minutes into the high speed chase, witnesses stated that Nero appeared to intentionally ram the officer's car head on.

Nero remains in the hospital on a $250,000 bond.

Sometimes I think we need to go back to the days when cops were allowed to shoot out turds' tires, not get in front of a speeding vehicle on foot. Bah!
