(CBS) - After celebrities including Yankees player Alex Rodriguez, former team owner George Steinbrenner and Jay-Z's driver were all let off the hook after receiving traffic tickets, the Internal Affairs Bureau and Bronx prosecutors decided to take a closer look at ticket fixing, a report says.
A-Rod was issued a speeding ticket when he was driving on the West Side Highway in New York City in 2009, but an NYPD sergeant later made it disappear, reports the New York Daily News.
Police even exempt Jay -Z's driver from a speeding ticket, reports the paper.

Before Steinbrenner's death, the paper reports he used his power and influence to get rid of numerous tickets for family, friends and staffers.

Sources say the practice was so rampant that many celebrity's and politician's representatives would sometimes call Police Headquarters directly to get their clients off the hook, the NY Daily News reports.
The investigation could result in the indictment of up to 40 cops, according to the paper's reports.

It really chaps my ass when these celebs get special treatment because of who they are. They should be made to follow the law just like the rest of us peons. They can better afford to pay fines than regular people. I can't stand it when they get away with DUI, drugs, theft, domestic violence, speeding tickets, etc. The law should be the same for everyone!

Some even get away multiple times. (Yes, Ms. Lohan, you should be sitting in jail for at least 2-3 years before anyone even thinks of releasing you.)
