    Brilliant article everyone should read.

I will not watch the vid. That said I admit to loving the Saw movies and other horror pics but that is FICTION.

I certainly will not condemn anyone who does watch it but like the article's author said you can't "unsee" it.
I had to laugh at this part: The problem is that those who are watching don't realize how they have moved from being passive viewers in a true crime story to becoming participants.

Just like it is everyone else's fault that he did this terrible crime.

My husband loves horror movies, but I can't stand them. They are so mindless and boring. Ooooh, scare me again with startlingly loud, dissonant music. I prefer true crime, murder mysteries and psychological thrillers {that aren't tired and predictable, but those are few and far between these days}. He's Saw, I'm Sherlock, heh.

Usually I'm open to seeing the aftermath of a crime, but you couldn't pay my husband to. He says the same thing about things like this and surgery..."It's different when it's real." Too many people seem to be lacking that filter.

But, while I can look at pictures of people on the slab or even still at the scene, I can't watch it happen. There was a video of some guy committing suicide by hanging floating around here a while back that I watched and it still haunts me more than anything else I've ever seen. It's not the gore or the violence that gets me, it's those last moments of life being ripped away and it devastates me every time.

So while my head may want to see the video so I can get more into this creep's head and dissect what his brain is like, my heart can't stand to. My heart only breaks for Jun Lin and his family.

This article compares the video to Saw or The Human Centipede. I'll watch Saw any old day, but if someone held a gun to my head and made me choose between the true dismemberment video or Centipede, I think I'd take the dismemberment. Somehow, even though it's real, it seems less aberrant to me than the whole Centipede concept. I can see how someone would think about cutting someone apart, but the fact that someone on this earth thought up and made entire movies (that tons of people watched!) about sewing people together mouth to anus actually makes me worry way more for the human race.

I wonder if the porncupone(a real prick) is going through publicity withdrawal yet?

I guess the reason I liked Saw was that it wasn't so much scary as innovative. Yeah, lots of gore but the myriad ways of showing it was astonishing. I was always trying to figure out how one thing was connected to another

The media reports they were lovers. Is this true? Any third party reports or details on the circumstances of their relationship such as how they met and got along together (apart from the stabby cutty)? Wonder what the Lin family thinks about this. Theirs not much info about this guy other than the sensational reports concerning his Trashy digital era interpretation of Angelyne-esque self promotion. I would have assumed such info would be readily available by now - after all its been several weeks since the drama broke.

OK now i'm not good on laws and such, but this happened in Canada correct? for this kind of crime what is punishable? is there a death sentence or how does it all work? so sorry for being stupid

Finally got to see the video, wowzer what a crazy mother fucker. when he killed the kittens they should of gotten him then. as a rule when they start with animals, people are their next upgrade.

Good question Ichabodius. i wonder about the whole lovers thing too. and in Chinese cultures isn't that bad? or do they finally accept gay/bi cultures?

I just saw a few pics on the net, where here put the guys parts into the shower for a washing. seriously wtf.

There is no death penalty in Canada RJBrasher. Murder is the best they can do with some corpse manipulation thrown in for spice.

My only question is did the teacher hate his students that much? And righto that they should kick his ass to the curb.

As to the rumours of of the victim committing suicide and being into zombies I am speechless. There are some v ery ugly people out there and I guess blaming the victim is how they get their jollies.

Reaction on the teacher that showed the video:
    http://montreal.ctv.ca/servlet/an/lo...b=MontrealHome

Of course the students who think it's just another "horror movie" are going to defend him. My gut tells me what we have here is a teacher far more concerned with being the most popular teacher than with being the best.

    Very well put RB.

As for Lin Jun, there's been lots in the media here about him and his family. To put it in a nutshell, he was just a lonely gay guy who went looking for love in the worst possible place.

On Canadian sentencing: No, we have no death penalty; the worst you can get is 25 years in prison.

However, Magnotta would be crazy not to plead not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity.
If he wins that, he could be walking the streets within a couple of years. (Remember the bus-beheader? He's already out on day passes).

Fuck i didnt have cool teachers like that in school! the worse i got to see was a 1970s video about child birth and seeing an amazon bush vagina that Tarzan couldn't find his way out of.

Since im a deathhag i would of been all for that, but i do see the point of it all. And why other teachers, and parents are pissed.

To clarify, that's a chance at parole in 25 years. You don't automatically get released after that, although it may seem that way.

Amen to that. I remember having a substitute teacher like that and I hated his guts. He was trying to be just like "one of gang" but he wasn't supposed to be. He was a teacher and he was there to set an example.

I am sure the teacher in this case sneaks smokes with the kids in the parking lot, criticizes the school board and other teachers in front of the students, and is eager to help with "personal" problems. Yeah, I know the type.

Didn't I already see that movie? I'm not buying it either.

Why would a teacher ever think it's a good idea to subject kids to something like that? I don't care how many of your students want to see something like that, you're an adult. You don't show something like that to children in your care. I would be surprised if that teacher isn't facing a stream of lawsuits from here to the turn of the century.

    The teacher's been fired.

However, it appears he may have shown the video because the students in his class voted 22-3 to have him do so.
Yesterday, students in the school held a rally to have him reinstated.

Thanks for this. I should have pointed out that the maximum sentnce is life with no chance of parole for 25 years.

So although the worst of the worst (Bernardo, the killer colonel, Willie Pickton) have a chance at getting parole after 25 years, the chances are pretty much nil that they will ever see the light of day.

I have heard the argument made that the kids were going to watch it anyway and he could "guide and support them". Kids are gonna look at porn on the web too when they're not supervised. Was he going to hold their hand through that experience too?

Wow, hard to believe Dr. Lillian Glass wrote this total-shit article. If her name rings a bell, it's because she wrote a stellar book I frequently recommend to folks called "Toxic People." I so agree with her advice to merely unplug from whoever's toxic in your life; and that can be anyone from a person's own mother to their most hated boss.

Now I'm just wondering if she's got some 'thing' against mothers! She cites a time-frame of 30 years ago, about this Fetal Alchohol Syndrome supposedly happening in what, record numbers? I gotta call a big Bullshit on that; I was alive then and well recall that at that point in history, there was never MORE info AND advertisements warning mothers about not drinking while pregnant.

That puts a pretty huge dent in her 'data,' -- were her claims correct, the FAS numbers would be much higher prior to the 30-year point, not after. Twenty years before then, far more women did drink while pregant, and record numbers smoked as well! Hell, in the 50's there were DOCTORS doing ads on TV for the cigarette companies!

I swear, if one more freak-bitch gives this POS slimeball one more damned excuse to walk or get a cushier fate than he deserves for his crime, I'm going to Spontaneously Combust!

What I do_NOT get, is why is this idjet is still sitting in Berlin, is that news still current?? What is "the Crown" waiting for, a dessicated head to show up? Writers all over the planet are tut-tutting over the social ramifications of this BS, but he's not even extradited yet? WTH?

One great thing about the reporters though: he's no longer labeled "model and porn star," now he's downgraded to "low-budget porn actor." Vanity's his drug, so that's mildly refreshing.

Sorry I didn't have any fresh news. But dayum.

Doubtless someone will profit, but I doubt it's this waste of afterbirth -- he can't string together enough coherent thought to make 3 sentences.

And "dangerous"? I guess ... if dangerous includes drugging someone past the point of self-defense, then tying them down just to be 1000% there is no possible harm factor whatsoever, then -- and only then -- going batshit psycho as if he's such a big, menacing killer (for the camera and planned posting, naturally).

Yes, one could say he's dangerous, but IMO he's also clearly chickenshit. So far all we know is he attacks only things with no defense capability whatsoever. Another telling fact is his covering the victim's face/head. Gutless chickenshit. And as a criminal en flight from the law? I guess we can be mildly thankful that he was stupendously inept at this as well.

I will be buying the book providing it is well written. Not one of those "hot off the press" big type jobs. I like my crime books to have some thought and decent writing behind them.

    Nicely put.

I'm not sure I understand why, when he got to Mirabel (or whatever the airport in Montreal's called these days) they had cops with automatic weapons waiting. It's not as though anyone's going to try to bust him out.
Maybe they were concerned the Chinese embassy was sending a hit squad?

The news media was spinning it as a safeguard against vigilante justice, but my old and jaded mind thinks they should have been more worried about a bunch of whackadoo fan boys that followed Magnotta's antics online showing up and causing trouble. I have no doubt this loser has "followers" somewhere, pathetic as that is.

It was just plain overkill on the cops part. (pardon the pun) They were trying to make it look like a scene from a movie IMO. All the heavy artillery and safety precautions were a show for the media and the general public. "See, we are doing something". How many damn cars in that escort? Goodgrief!

He flew into Mirabel, which is actually quite a ways north of Montreal. It used to be the international airport while Dorval (which is now named Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport/PET) was the domestic airport. Dorval is located on the West Island and is pretty much in the middle of the surburbs. Almost all flights now come into PET nowadays and Mirabel is basically a wasted venture. I think Fedex flies in there but I don't think they handle passenger flights anymore, maybe some charters.

I believe CTV said the police station was located on Cremazie and that was quite a hike from Mirabel.
