Oh NO! My nieces loved to imitate "Designing Women" when they were kids. Their interior design firm was in a cardboard box!

I remember Dixie when she was on "As The World Turns" a thousand years ago. Splendid actress and a classy lady.

I know I've gotten a few over the last few days. I keep expecting to see Dennis Hopper's name listed, but never in a million years would I have thought it would be Dixie Carter! I am so heart broken. I pray she went peacefully...

I just found out! I am so terribly, terribly sad. I used to watch Designing Women all the time. And I wrote to a letter to CBS begging them not to cancel the show. I had no idea she was very ill, or maybe it was a sudden thing. She was such a classy, smart lady. You don't have lots of those in Hollywood anymore. I'm really bummed she's gone.

    RIP...

Very classy actress. I had always heard that the only thing she had in common with the Sugarbaker character was the accent. That in real life she had a wonderful sense of humor with a generous heart.
    RIP Dixie. We'll miss you.

Just logged in and saw the news... So shocking and sad! I met her last year, she was a kind, lovely person and so beautiful! She looked much younger than 70 and as far as I could tell had no work done. Very classy, cheerful, and wonderful to be around.

    RIP sweet Dixie.
