I really, really enjoyed Freaks. Chained for Life was dreadful though. They deserved better. The way their lives ended is tragic, but beautiful in the a macabre way. Conjoined twins come into the world together as one, if left joined, leave the world together as one. As I guess it should be.
I love reading about conjoined twins. Violet and Daisy aren't my favorites though. I much prefer the Tocci twins from Italy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giacomo...Battista_Tocci They made their fortune and then disappeared into seclusion. One was the stronger twin, one was the weaker. One was more outgoing, one was more shy. They fought like brothers and but were a reflection of each other.
I've always thought it would be amazing to have a conjoined twin. A best friend that shares your life with you and knows you as well as they know themselves.
Also, the most famous set of conjoined twins, Chang and Eng Bunker, is where the term "Siamese twins" came from. Also, one of Chang's great grand daughters is a politician in Florida and Eng's grandson was president of the Union Pacific Railroad in the 40s.
I wish I'd lived during the sideshow days when so called, "freaks", were paraded out and exhibited. I think by displaying them, it leads to acceptance. Provided they aren't being exploited by a third person. Who is to say that these people are freaks? This is what nature made them. It makes them special, if not even more beautiful. Because of laws against human exhibitions, these people really have no route to make a steady income and often lead boring and sheltered lives.
