A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
Not even close. Young, inexperienced driver misses stop sign and causes
terrible fatal accident. Does not run away.
Grown man, probably drunk, drives into pond and saves his own arse but neglects to try and save woman in car.
And for what it's worth, I don't like either party, or any politicians. I think they are all crooks, thieves and liars.
I don't believe Laura intentionally killed the boy.But like Ralph Nader always said. It's always an accident.Poor driving errors, ridiculous designs and just human stupidity have killed millions of Americans,I always questioned, why the hell isn't there more controls? .Some one can just turn their steering wheel at any time.Or run a red light at any time and just kill us.Why isn't there stricter controls? What kind of a bull crap car society have we created.? Our crap car world has only been here 100 years or so. We created this crap and there is still no controls over all of the people being killed.Go to My Death Space,so many young kids being killed in Car Crashes.I'm sick of this crap.We should not turn the other way.A tragic accident.A very old story. The invention of cars and freeways that kill everyone is the biggest tragic accident. What a crock of bull, this car culture has turned out to be.I sold my car, years ago.I don't play that game.Too many die. And damn it.I do not approve of the government looking the other way.

*Brief thread hijack*
I believe the government already has enough control of our lives- what kind of control could the put on cars? Seriously, take a pill.
Anyway, I digress
If there was a death involved, its fair game on this board- esp given the driver of the car later went on to be famous. Given the timing of this thread, it is in obvious response to the debate and comments made on the Ted Kennedy thread- which is raising certain hackles on people. Laura Welch Bush was a 17 year old girl who caused the death of her friend. There was no coverup- she did a stupid thing. I remember seeing a newspiece about this at the time of the first presidential election. I don't see her refusing to speak about it as a coverup, I see it as a traumatic experience for a 17 year old girl. Would you walk around speaking about it if it happened to you?
I ran a red light when I was 25. I honestly don't know what happened- I still to this day swear that the light was green when I approached the intersection- next thing I know, its red and a truck is plowing into me. I totalled my car, but luckily, no one was hurt, and the gentleman who hit me was more concerned that I was crying and felt stupid. I'm lucky he didn't sue my ass. Accidents happen.

I don't understand much of what you said for various reasons, but mostly I am confused by your desire to have the government control your vehicle. Most accidents are the result of driver error.
I can see maybe raising the driving age. It would inconvenience a lot of people, but it would keep us all safer. If you read the articles at MDS you know that most of those are from drunk driving, speeding & freak accidents.
I love it.....you guys are sooooo hilariously twisted!!!

So James? How do you get around? Are you Amish? The invention of cars and freeways that kill everyone is the biggest tragic accident. What a crock of bull, this car culture has turned out to be.I sold my car, years ago.I don't play that game.Too many die. And damn it.I do not approve of the government looking the other way.

Damn! Well, the government's dropped the ball here too then!Do you know how many people died in horse & buggy mishaps?

The cruel, uneventful state
of apathy releases me
I value them but I won't cry every time one's wiped out
Heh! Feet! Who woulda thunk it?? No but really....I can understand having no problem with no auto in Germany, England, France.......but in the US....a lot of people need cars with the way we are set up. I am not saying I am pro-car, or anti-car. Heck I wish I could get by with just a bicycle myself. Most people I know commute around here.........

Let's see in the horse and buggy days, there were fatalities.Walking, some old man can fall down and hit his head. But far, far, less. In 1857. Rough estimate,no more than a couple thousand horseback and buggy fatal accidents.I'm just saying, the government should take control of this madness.Prevent drivers from screwing up and killing people. It's so easy for a drunk to run a red light and kill us,instantly.Even careful drivers can be killed.I just don't approve of so many kids dying. No,I get around by bus, taxi and limo.I trashed my car.I don't approve of the way the government handles the system so I will not be a participant. We are still forced to use buses ,taxis and limos. So I can tip the drivers and help their families.I'm just saying kids should not be allowed to die and no one does a damn thing about it.I don't agree with just covering up the bodies with a yellow sheet and just waiting for the next so-called accident. Everywhere I post my statements I always get responses.I guess you guys are crazy about your g--d-- cars.I don't care about your damn cars.I care about kids being killed.I am fed up.

James, it's too painful to quote you, so I'll just jump right in with my response.
There were far less people populating the earth back then, so there would obviously be less fatalities. If you take public transportation you are feeding the monster. So you can't say you don't participate, b/c you do. You may not like it, but you do participate. And if you do use PT you are paying the government. Sp stick to the limos.
Fun things to do on a segway:

I don't like kids dying.Old people who have lived 60 years. But 22 Year Olds who are just starting? . I believe we should all come together and work on solutions to this problem. We are the people. I actually don't drive because I don't like spending 500 dollars per month. I just don't like kids dying. We have to do something.
No one does James, but kids (and people) die from many, many things. Getting rid of cars isn't realistic. Teaching people how to be responsible is (or should be at least).I just don't like kids dying

This is my preferred method of transportation. In exchange for a quick lift to Paris, Athens or even across the bay bridge, all I have to do is submit to a fast anal exam and a new chip implant. Saves thousands on air fare and gas, and is SO much faster than negotiating San Francisco traffic.
