I am in lower Westchester, NY.

last week I go to the pump and see $3.11 for regular. Thinking I will outsmart the system I put in only $10 assuming tomorrow or the next day it will be a little cheaper... NOT! next day $3.25. So I then filled it up like the moron I am... when it goes to $5.00 I will find a job in walking distance.

By the way our prices are around $1.35(Au) per litre, which I assume yours are by gallon would work out to be $6.13 (Au) or US$5.49... But I assume as usual it will get worse at christmas and get up to $1.5/litre, it always skyrockets then!

The question was how much do you pay for gas, not what you're doing now.

Yikes! Yeah, the closer to SF the more it is. I used to live in the East Bay - so I'm guessing just about $4 there.

I'm the same way - if it's only a couple cents more, I'll fill up there. I have an 11 gallon tank (I drive a 2001 Toyota Echo - great gas mileage!), and usually put in about 8 gallons - so 25 cents more isn't going to kill me.

Exactly. Over £1 a litre over here at the moment. There is serious talk of national 'go slow' protests on the motorways/freeways by convoys of trucks and barricades to/from refineries. Why so high a price? TAXES. About two-thirds of the price.

You guys have got it easy!!!!

Well, I heard on the news this morning, that oil was about $28 a barrell when Bush first took office and now it's about $100...

I really doubt those greedy oil merchants and Haliburton are going to want to take the $28 a barrel again...

3.11 for regular 3.19 for mid 3.29 for high test. I dont use the car except to go straight to a necessary place and back. Any of that driving to the country or crusing thru town stuff is over.

I would guess that in Texas you have refinery facilities fairly near many locations, which is certainly not the case in many other parts of the country. Transporting the gas/petrol adds to it's cost. Different states have different tax levies which can push the price higher, as well.
Ours is $3.24/gallon for 87 octane regular. (southeastern Wisconsin)
