Whenever we go to Tijuana the vendors all call my husband Chuck Norris (he really dosen't look too much like him either)

"heeeeey Chuck Norris, buy this statue of Tweety Bird for your lady"

This was useless info to share except due to that Chuck is near and dear to my heart.

Hope all is well with him.

Chuck will be one of those "I can't believe he is dead storys."

Lets hope it doesn't happen for a long time!!!

He may not be much of an actor but I have never read anything bad about him!!

Did ya all know he is a born again christian?

I remember his Karate Studio commercials during the early 70's. The commercial ended with his fist at the camera with his big hairy knuckles.

    Forrest J Ackerman

Long-time science-fiction fan, writer, editor, and agent.
    Famous for wordplay, he is credited with being the first to abbreviate science fiction to "sci-fi";

He calls his home the "Ackermansion" and a 1997 collection of SF stories he edited was the "Ackermanthology!".

Received a special Hugo award as a Fan Personality in 1953.

Owns a large collection of SF/horror books and film memorabilia. For information about visits see his web site. (1998)

Forced by health and lack of reimbursement from a winning lawsuit, Ackerman held a huge yard sale in September, 2002, that included thousands of pieces of science fiction movie memorabilia. This was part of the process of selling his home, the Ackermansion, and liquidating the bulk of his 300,000-piece collection. Ackerman had tried to find a museum to take the collection without success. Optimistically, he settled in a nearby smaller home with plans to continue to allow tours of the remains of his treasures.

He was (and remains) a member of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, Inc. It was there that he started a life long friendship with writer Ray Bradbury and special effects creator Ray Harryhausen. He attended the LASFS' 70th anniversary meeting in October 2004.

His main claim to fame was as the creator and editor of the groundbreaking magazine "Famous Monsters of Filmland" (aka "Famous Monsters" or just "FM") started in 1958. Many highly successful filmmakers who emerged in the 1970s and 80s were former readers who cite the magazine for developing their interest in film.
He was co-editor, with Jean Stine, of the 1994 book "Reel Future," an anthology of 16 stories that were turned into science fiction/horror films.

Proposed an animated film of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, but Tolkien rejected the submitted storyline in 1958

Forrest is a true hero in my eyes!!!!! He was born in 1916 and from pics I have seen recently he doesn't look to good!!

Gary Riley of Stand By Me and Summer School

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Riley

He was "Vern's" older brother in Stand By Me and the blond stoner dude in Summer School. I was watching Stand By Me the other night and saw him. I was like "he looks familiar". So being the inquisitive guy that I am ran a check on him. It turns out he got drunk in a bar in NYC last summer, got behind the wheel and fell asleep. He hit another car and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The pic attached is from a still off 1987's "Summer School".

Yeah and I loved Stand By Me. Funny, I didn't remember him in the movie until I thought about it.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Well I didn't know him from Stand By Me either. He just had a familiar face. When I IMDB'd him I saw his Summer School listing and it just clicked. Not to mention he was "Guy 1" in Back to the Future.......well at least he was in it.

He actually played "Charlie Hogan" which was Vern's brothers friend .. the dark haired guy was actually Vern's brother "Billy" .. but still .. I remember him from both Stand by Me and Summer School!! Such a sad story!!

yep that was the movie. They had the infatuation with "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". I'm just trying to remember which bit part he was in "Back to the Future". It was either one of Biff's friends, in the diner, or at the dance I think. Who knows.......

I just watched Stand By Me the other day. Hands down the best story Stephen King ever wrote. I felt all nostalgic watching it. River was of course alive but he still had some baby fat on him and Jerry O'Connell well, he still had all his. Feldman was a dork even then and Will Wheaton well, he still looks pretty much exactly the same. Keifer Sutherland was pretty hot in that one. He must've not started hitting the bottle yet. I love that movie and always will. Does anyone remember what book that story was in and whether King wrote it under Stephen King or Richard Bachman? I remember reading it and the novella was called The Body, it had a lot of other short stories too but I can't remember what book it actually was. I've read most of Kings work and I guess it was one of the earlier ones I read. I actually used to have all of Kings books in hardcover but my pappaw....he loved doing things to me for meanness....he threw them all away one weekend when I wasn't home.

It was in "Different Seasons" by Stephen King my favorite one in that book is the pregnant woman in the cab!

Oh thank you bigbootyjudy, I've tried to remember that for years but no one knew what I was talking about. Seems that not many of my friends are readers. I don't remember the story about the pregnant lady in the cab. I'm gonna have to find it. I wish Stephen King would go back to that style of writing. He really does well when he just puts a twist on things from his childhood. I don't like it when he tries to get really complicated and far out. For him I think, the simpler the better. Thanks again.

Has His Death Been "Greatly Exaggerated"? Holly Johnson

I remember hearing a couple years ago that the lead singer of the 80's band, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, who had a hit with the song "Relax", was killed in the plane crash of TWA 800 that exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland. Does anybody know if this is true?

In November of 1991, Johnson learned he was HIV positive. This triggered a temporary withdrawal from the music business and public life in general. His condition was made public in April 1993. In 1994 his critically acclaimed autobiography, A Bone In My Flute, was published.
Since the mid 1990s, Johnson has worked primarily as a painter. His works have been exhibited at the Tate Liverpool, and The Royal Academy. He has contributed to Modern Painters and the Paul Smith sponsored CARLOS magazine. He has continued to make music via his own Pleasuredome label, such as 1999's Soulstream, an album that includes a re-recording of "The Power of Love.

This is totally untrue in fact i've never heard this rumour at all

    The crash was 88

The same thing with Paul McCartney. Someone mentioned on radio that he was dead and that proof of it could be found on album covers, in lyrics and on records (if you played them backwards that is).

TWA Flight 800 exploded over the Atlantic ocean just off Long Island, New York on 06/17/96 after leaving JFK.

Pan Am Flight 103 was blown up over Lockerbie, Scottland on 12/21/88 on it's way to JFK.

Quite a discrepency in your story...

Hey..that has happened to me !!

I got out of radio someyears back and on many radio websites that I still check out I read stuff posted from others who asked whatever became of me.

Lets see here....some of the things I read about myself online...

    * Cathy was killed in a car accident last year.

    * Cathy is in jail for writing a bad check at a Denny's.

    * My husband and I went Amish..and we now live in Pennyslvania.

    * Cathy is now doing adult films. Recently she starred in the hardcore
porn flick "Cathy does them all". And of course these same people claim to have seen me having sex on film. One even claimed to have seen me getting gang-bang by a group of midgets while I sing the song "Short People got..."Yeah right !!! LOL

I just sit back and laugh.

OMG.... LOL ...That is so funny. Sorry probably not to you. I can imagine you, siiting with a cup of coffee, reading in the paper that you had a gang bang ....with midgets...hahahahaha. oh it could be worse ,it could of been rumoured that you shagged hasslehoff...hahaha sorry but that is brilliant.

Ah..you are right...I would take midgets over Hasslehoff LOL

Actually I enjoy reading this stuff even if some is about me. At least they are still talking about me LOL

I do have to admit though sometimes I get the temptation to PM some of these people under an assume name and ask where did they get their info though but I am sure I'll get that "...well I myself didn't actually see it..but my Uncle's best friend's sister-in-law's roommate's next door neighbor did see it..thing LOL

Back in my hometown for a number of years there was a disabled young man who had a radio gossip site. First it was great and very well done, then the local radio stations stopped giving him "news" to post ( many stations have cracked down on that ) so to keep it running he started making up stuff. It became almost like the Weekly World News..only local.
Good for laughs !! However some of the radio stations in my hometown ( mainly the Clear Channel ones ) didn't share the laughter as they contacted his hosting company and had the site shut down.
