Don't Paula Deen Just Make Ya'll Sick Ya'll?

    OMG!!!
She's been on the "Today" show all morning every other word out of her mouth is "Ya'll".

I've lived in the South most of my life and I've never heard anyone sound as HICK as she does.

I think all that "Ya'll" shit is an act. What do "Ya'll" think?

I had never watched her before mostly because I don't watch cooking shows but i have to jump in here and tell you this. I saw her on Jay Leno a couple of months ago and they perpared some recipie. She and Jay stood on the same side of the table and worked side by side. EVERYTIME SHE TOUCHED HER FOOD OR JAYS WHILE PREPARING IT SHE WOULD LICK HER FINGERS AND THEN GO BACK TO PREPARING AND TOUCHING JAY AND HER FOOD. I swear to gawd it made me so sick I thought that woman was an absolut pig and a completely unsanitary hick. Had i not witnessed this with my own eyes I would have nothing to say aboout the woman and probably wouldn't even believe it. But seeing on national television how she's so unsanitary and not to mention sloppy and gross, well, it just makes all the "ya'lls"
a little harder to take. No wonder some people sterotype county people. They think everyone is like her. I know better but some do not. Paula Dean? i wouldn't eat anything she prepared until I read her latest test results, if ever. yuck!

This is a big pet peeve of mine. My sisters and I are all born and raised in Oklahoma City. I know Okies have an accent but it is usually just a slight twang, but my sisters have adopted this freakishly thick hick accent that puts my teeth on edge. They act like they don't know what anyone is talking about when we ask why they are talking like that.

My guess- attention. They want to play up the "good old girl" act. Georgians have a beautiful accent naturally so I'm not sure why Paula Dean is doing it other than attention.

I've also seen her lick cooking spoons and knives and then stick them back into whatever she was stirring.

I dunno, I guess I'm in the minority, I think she's adorable, and fun.

Maybe because she reminds me of a friend of mine who passed on?

Anyhow, I like watching her party show. She cracks me up with her off the wall comments. She's a dirty old lady most of the time, and I love it.

Besides that, she does have some great recipes. And she cooks for real people, with real ingredients, not all that low cal crap.

    Paula's Fried Butter Balls

    Ingredients:

    • 2 sticks butter
    • 2 ounces cream cheese
    • Salt and pepper
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
    • Peanut oil, for frying

    Directions:

Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth. Using a very small ice cream scoop, or melon baller, form 1-inch balls of butter mixture and arrange them on a parchment or waxed paper lined sheet pan. Freeze until solid. Coat the frozen balls in flour, egg, and then bread crumbs and freeze again until solid.
When ready to fry, preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.
Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden. Drain on paper towels before serving.

She is trying to kill us!!!! Seriously.

    The Lady's Brunch Burger

    Ingredients:
    • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
    • 3 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley leaves
    • 2 tablespoon grated onion
    • Paula Deen's House Seasoning
    • 2 tablespoon butter
    • 3 eggs
    • 6 slices bacon, cooked
    • 3 hamburger buns
    • 3 english muffins
    • 6 glazed donuts

Directions: Mix the ground beef, chopped parsley and grated onion together in a large mixing bowl. Season liberally, with House Seasoning. Form 3 hamburger patties.

Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Add the burgers and cook until desired temperature, 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium-rare.

Fry bacon in a hot pan until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside.

While burgers are cooking, heat a non-stick pan, over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons butter. Crack 3 eggs into the pan. Cook until the yolks are just set and still slightly runny and remove.

Place burger patties on English muffins or buns, and if desired, on glazed donuts, as the buns. Top each burger with 2 pieces of bacon and a fried egg.

Seriously, wtf? Burgers, butter, bacon and eggs all on glazed doughnuts??????????

Yeah, well a friend of mine placed some fried chicken into the garbage can in her kitchen, licked her fingers afterwards and then cut me a piece of cake and touched the cake with those same fingers. Mwahhhh....

I pushed the cake around from side to side on the plate (just like Beaver used to do on Leave it to Beaver) and never ate a bite of it.

I am so glad to see I am not the only one who is bothered by this. I have seen her in a couple of ads. I also have watched a couple of episodes of her show.
Even in the ads,she says 'Y'all' many times and I wish she would stop! It is like 'I get it,you are Southern and now you are making the South look bad!'

I do have to admit-one of her Banana Pudding recipes is really good. Of course it involves sour cream(maybe it was cream cheese),whipped cream and maybe some other cream.
    It is just yummy.

    Paula's Butter Cake Recipe:
    Butter, for greasing pan
    2 cups butter
    1 1/2 cups butter oil
    1/4 cup butter juice
    3 cups all-purpose butter
    1 teaspoon baking butter
3 cups peeled and finely chopped butter
    1 cup shredded butter
1 pinch of butter, for taste

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Generously grease a tube pan.
For the cake: in a large bowl, combine the butter, butter oil, butter juice, and baking butter; and mix well. Fold butter, butter, and butter into batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bathe in it until you go into cardiac arrest.

Anyone else sign up for the free weiners that were posted in the Everything else thread yesterday??

If so, here's Paula's very own hotdog recipe:

    Ketchup, Mustard and Lard:

Paula Deen may know southern cooking, but she needs her head examined. Because she'll top your wiener with bacon, cheese sauce and scoops of lard.

Egad. The amount of saturated fat in this post meets the recommended daily allowance for 5 years. Hell hath no fury like a hotdog scorned

Paula Deen's Fried Mac and Cheese Bacon Bites - AKA Paula Deen is a food terrorist!!!!

Mac and cheese wrapped in bacon, breaded, and then deep-fried makes perfect sense if you first stop and ask yourself, "What would Paula Deen do?" And she has done it.

OMG. Like the spaghetti recipe your wife passed on to me. Max loves when I make that.

Have you made the stuffed beef tenderloin? OMG. To. Die. For. Another of Max's favorites.

We eat butter in our house, no margarine for us. I had someone tell me once that margarine was one step away from plastic in it's chemical makeup or whatever. That made hubby sick, and we've eaten butter ever since. But it's a better kind of fat than margarine is. Alton Brown did an episode on it once.

I dunno. Like Jod6cindy said, she is bawdy. I love that!

The first time I saw her, the Food Network had done this show about a couple getting married, and the Food Network chefs prepared the meal for the wedding, and I think they actually paid for the whole affair.

Anyhow, the chefs also did personal things with the couple. One took them sightseeing in New York, another played basketball with the groom and his friends. Paula had a manicure/pedicure with the bride. Just listening to her talk, to her bawdy way of speaking, made me laugh, and I had to know who she was. She's like a favorite aunt or something.

ETA: I know we are of the same mind when it comes to butter, Barbossa. After you buttered my bread at dinner last week, I knew we were siblings for sure!

Margarine is one molecule away from plastic. If you burn margarine...it can become carcinogen. This is what my chef said at my fav restaurant. Butter is natural. Butter is better. But probably not in the quantity that Paula cooks with, y'all.
