Yeah I saw that. My gut feeling is he's the one who managed her botched apology vids. Even though I think Deen doesn't deserve what she's endured, the apology vids were screwed up.

Although there are some high profile names who have dropped Deen, I wonder who has not? That thought popped into my head a couple of mornings ago when I saw a tv ad for an old but successful D/FW furniture store and the owner mentioned Paula Deen as one of the brands he sells.

With a huge emphasis on the YAWWWWWWWLLL! I'm a country girl from Arkansas, and even I don't say "ya'll" that often. She really let stardom go to her head. For some reason, she just sounds disingenuous whenever she says it, all the time. She's become a caricature.

    Funny video.

Also find it funny that she equates being a racist scumbag to someone saying something they wish they hadn't.

I am appalled that she is being held responsible for something she said 20 years ago! I am no fan of Paula Deen but I think the level of accountability she is being held to is ridiculous. Who among us has never used a derogatory term for a black person, a gay person, a Hispanic person, a white person, or a woman? If you tell you have never done such a thing I will have a hard time believing you because we are all human and we all fall short of the impossibly high standards that society holds for political correctness. Do we deserve to lose our livelihood for things we stupidly said in the past? Who could withstand that level of scrutiny? We have become so damn open-minded that our brains have fallen out.

Look at some of the vile shit that Ted Nugent said about the Zimmerman trial and nobody is calling for his head on a platter, except me, of course. I'd take twenty Paula Deens over one Ted Nugent any day of the week.

EXACTLY! It seems no one can say what they really think without remaining anonymous for fear of either "offending someone" and thus becoming a social pariah. We're living in a watered-down version of Orwell's 1984.

I don't like her for her cooking. I had a mini rant about her use of processed foods as opposed to fresh ingredients in an earlier post.

In reading all about this, the thing in the back of my head all the time, was that the revelations she made recently about any racist comments, were made many years ago.

My father was a racist. My sister married an ethnic bloke, and when my father got to know him they got on like champions. A life of ignorance and predjudice negated by a time of first hand experience.

Given time and exposure, people can overcome earlier failures in respect to predjudices, and grow to be more tolerant.

Paula made some admissions to her past. The key thing for me is as to whether she still holds these beliefs, or she has seen the light.

Still a shit cook though, lol.

A racist, or anyone who holds a predjudice, in my view, is just ignorant and has not had the opportunity to see the light.

Maybe the responsibility falls on the rest of us to show them the way.

The problem with Paula Dean WAS HER APOLOGY. She should have said that she has used the "N-Word" in the past, but it was a long time ago in a time and place that people used it. Since then, she has come to realize that it was not acceptable and she has grown to understand how inappropriate that word is and would NEVER use it now - nor has she for some time. Her sniveling was so bad it made me laugh. AND hard-hitting reporter Matt Lauer, although he was not warm and fuzzy, should have called her on the absence of tears. Even though I have made mistakes - I STILL WANTED TO PICK UP A ROCK and hit her in the head with it.

I agree that she would have been better off to have kept her mouth shut, but it would be hard to muster up tears for something she uttered two decades ago. She hasn't done any interviews lately that I'm aware of and I think that's a good decision. She has aged twenty years since this shitstorm began. The poor thing looks like buttered death.

To be totally honest guy's these political correct witch hunts disturb me greatly. How far are these going to go? You already have sensitivity training, how long till we have re education camps?. I'm a huge opponent of censorship and a huge supporter of free speech. And the witch hunts of mel Gibson,Paula Eden,Isaiah Washington. Etc rub me the wrong way.
most of the people I've met who are self proclaimed anti racists are some of the most intolerant people on the planet.
every ethnic group has their fair share of assholes, every creed and gender has their fair share of dickheads. Why should I be forced to handle an Asshole with kid gloves just because he/she is different to me.
by the way sherrie Shepard is just as racist if not more racist than Paula deen

I have thought quite a bit about the topic of witch hunts and I believe you are correct, these are witch hunts. We are so politically correct in this country that we are quickly losing the right to individual thought. There will always be those among us who are racist, sexist, and/or homphobic. No amount of marketing will change that. I am not saying that I endorse those feelings or support them or feel that way myself. I have been the recipient of racist, sexist and homophobic treatment. I do think, however, we have to make room in our society for people who do not conform to the preferred thought process. No matter how strong the desire, we cannot control what people think. We can and should enforce equal treatment under the law but we cannot control how people think. Our country has always prided itself on our freedom and that means we must have freedom for those whose behavior is not illegal but is unpopular. These people have a right to their beliefs no matter how much I dislike the beliefs. I have the freedom to disagree with them. We cannot provide freedom of expression for only those who hold the popular view. That doesn't mean I have to buy their products or patronize their businesses and corporations have the right to decide who represents them. I just hate the school of thought that says we have to stifle those voices with whom we disagree.

I think it took a lot of courage for her to tell the truth about whether she said it or not. She could have easily lied and it would have been her word against her accuser's word and most people would believe her and think she was accused of it by a disgruntled employee with an ax to grind. The whole damn thing has been ridiculously blown out of proportion. IMO

Evie & Piercyn (the video spells it Pearson, I believe) in the clip are the little granddaughters of my hometown friend, Juju, as they refer to her.
