I don't know that I would be comfortable "malling" with Diana. I would look like a turd in a punchbowl next to her!

I think being with Diana would be a blast! She loved to laugh and have fun!

I just read from FB's 'WTF Facts' Princess Di had her naval pierced just afew hours before the crash. And it was studded with a 2.8 carat diamond. Way to go Di!
I've never heard that before.
Everyone must die but not everyone has lived
This. I was 16 was she married and just drank in all the romance and history. Reading about British royalty inspired an abiding case of Anglophilia. She was elegant and stylish and knew how to connect with the public. I was heartbroken when she died.
Sometimes I still can't believe she's gone. It was so unnecessary. Her sons are doing her proud though!
Oh, and hi everyone. I'm new here.
Hi Lizzy!! Welcome to the boards! I think we will all miss Diana for the rest of our lives. She truly was a princess--in all ways that counted.

I agree with all of what I read. Only the good die young. Thats an understatement. I can't believe shes really gone. And on top of that in such a horrible manner. I read somewhere the crash was so fatal that her earring was caught in the windshield.
Rest in Peace Princess Diana and Dodi, Our people's princess will never be forgotten 15 years today and i still remember it like it was yesterday
xx
RIP Princess Diana.

Wow...15 years.
I can't believe it has been 15 years either.
When she died it was like a distant cousin dying. Someone you didn't know well but who was there all the same.
I loved her because despite her public face she was a real human being with flaws, quirks, faults. She was one of a kind.
RIP Diana
I can remember almost everything from that night ......I was upstairs on the computer tv was off, I turned it on to find news that Di was in an accident. I ran downstairs to find my whole family and I know where they were sitting too. They were watching & then I can distinctly remember the news anchor reporting, stopped talking, he received a piece of paper from staff, he looked down & read the paper and his face ..... instantly we knew from the reporter's expression. Then he announced it that she had passed away.
We had just come home from an evening out and the phone was ringing. Our friend told us to turn the tv on. He wouldn't say why just told us to turn it on. I was dumbstruck. I started sobbing and my DH kept saying "you're kidding, you're kidding".
I am ashamed to say i cried more in the next couple of days for her than I did for some of my relatives.
The strange thing is I miss her. I don't know why I should but I really do.
Thats not strange. Trust me that is so normal. I miss her too; I wish that she was still around. Di was somewhat an American icon too. Such a hero to many women and men.
15 years. It seems like yesterday. I had just recently turned 10.
I remember setting around our old wooden console TV in the living room. Listening to Peter Jennings report on her death. It was around 10PM EST or so. I believe.
I rememember my mom and I watching the funeral. Elton John's new version of Candle In The Wind. It was freaking depressing. Then again. Aren't funerals supposed to be depressing.

I remember a friend called to tell me about the accident. It was late, like after 11pm. So turned on the TV and at that point they hadn't announced that she had died, just that she was in an accident but Dodi was dead. When the announcement came that she didn't make it either my heart just sank. I couldn't believe it.
I had followed her since her interview with Charles after they got engaged. It was hard for me to imagine a world without her. I literally grieved over a woman I had never met. Still hard to believe she's been gone this long.

Words can't convey how much I miss you both. RIP with love.
A stamp commemorating the meeting of Diana and Mother Teresa, who died just a week later (her funeral, while simpler by far, was interesting too, and she was buried as a national heroine.)

I will never forget watching TV this night 15 years ago when the news of Diana's accident started airing. OMG. OMG....total shock doesn't even begin to convey the feelings so many of us experienced....when they announced Diana had passed, I shot straight up in bed and just started crying and saying, "NO, NO, NO".
There are several pictures of Diana in my home....I look at them often and think about her and how very much she will always be loved and missed.

At the time I turned on the tv, the news was Diana was in a car accident & was taken to hospital, was fatal...When I went downstairs, it was then that the news reporter stopped dead in his tracks, and looked like a deer in the headlights upon reading the interuption
Still can't believe it's been 15 years. I remember we were just starting our weekly performance of Rocky Horror when we found out. Some jerk in the audience made a crack about her and he got booed out of the theater.
She was definitely a class act...

I was stuck at work the day she died. I remember we had just closed the restaurant's lobby and I was mopping when the news came on. I dropped the mop and just sat there stunned for the longest before bursting in to tears. I felt like William and Harry were my brothers. I still feel that way about them both. I know, I'm weird.
I have not posted here before, but have done extensive reading on Diana. I was a teen when she married Prince Charles, and she was not much older than myself. While in high school, we looked up to her, and Jackie Kennedy as the role models for young ladies of the day.
Yes, she had a pierced navel, and also had breast implants. Nothing wrong with being modern. Apparently I have read the following along the line of the 40 odd books I have picked up:
She wanted to back out of the wedding before it happened. Her sister, who dated Charles before she did, told her "There is no looking back at this point, your face is already on the tea-towels."
Yes, Charles wanted to be with Camilla from the time he met her. Camilla's Grandmother and Charles' Great Grandfather (Edward VII) had a thing going back in their day. If I read it right, his wife, the ever gracious Alexandra, called for her and allowed her (Camilla's Grandmother) at the kings bedside with her as he lay dying.
Camilla's husband was in Charles' tight circle of friends, and knew and apparently looked the other way to allow his close friend to have his way with his wife. Throughout history many Princes of Wales and Kings have taken mistresses. The key to doing it successfully is discretion. When the "fairy tale" was over for Diana, everyone decided to air their dirty laundry in public.
She was a wonderful humanitarian, mother and role model within the public facade. Her personal life was a mess from eating disorders, self harm, belief in clairvoyants, and depression. She was brought in to "fit the role". After the divorce in which she was awarded some 26 million as a lump sum settlement, apartments for life in Kensington Palace, and Charles paying her expenses, and that of the children. She was offered protection from MI5 for life, but turned it away, as she felt that using such protection would allow the Palace to "spy on her".
She was also warned previously (this was in one book) about associating with the Fayeds. That their interests in her may be more than a warm invitation. Dodi Fayed was engaged to be married to another woman at the time they died in the crash in Paris. She suffered a broken leg in the accident, and (I have read both) a torn aorta or torn vena cava (one pumps blood to the heart and the other away from the heart), but tear either, like rupturing the spleen can cause you to bleed to death internally in the matter of five minutes or less at times.
What I cannot understand is this...if she suffered from not other injuries other than that and if her face was perfect, why was their not a public viewing/glass topped coffin like they did with Princess Grace, who also perished in an auto accident?
She taught her children compassion, humility and grace. Prince Harry I believe has had a bit too much exposure to the ways of soldiers, but probably no less than those of his father or grandfathers before him. Catherine is beautiful, and after being together for 9 years, you know William and Kate married for love. Heard that she goes out and does a bit of her own grocery shopping and cooks. That they don't like having servants.
Charles is finally with the woman he always wanted. Ok, sure she doesn't have Diana's youth or looks. That doesn't make her a horrible person. He will be a good King one day. He is concerned with architecture, the environment, organic farming, and cares about the poor. It is in all a Bill Clinton type of thing. Just because he went for Monica, did not make him a bad President. Just my opinion!
I find it VERY hypocritical that Prince Charles has been allowed to keep his place in line for the crown. Considering the history of "royals" who forfeited their rights for love - he should be no different. Cheating then Divorce - Marrying a "commoner" - I think he should step aside and let his son take his space. There is no way in hell I would want to see Camilla with a title....
My Posse's On Broadway
Camilla will be queen-consort, I would be willing to put money on it. Once Charles III is on the throne, he can pretty much do what he wants.
Everyone must die but not everyone has lived
What I find sad about the whole thing with Charles marrying Camilla is that poor Princess Margaret didn't get to marry the man she truly loved, Capt. Townsend. I understand they didn't want another scandle after the whole Wallace Simpson thing, but still, Margaret was not in line for the thrown at that time. Weren't Charles and Ann born before Margaret got involved with Captain Townsend? But Charles got to marry Camilla. Thank goodness Princess Margaret didn't live long enough to see that.

I remember waking up early in the morning (tv is always on) to her being in an accident and was being rushed to the hospital. I was wide awake then and I kept saying "Come on girl!" rooting for her to make it. It was a sad sad day.

can't stand Camilla either.... I remember exactly where I was, at work. Hospital, and the tv's were still on. the news anchor broke in, and announced Diana's death.
all the patients and staff cried. myself included.
She would be so proud of "her boys". yep, even Harry and "those pics". how she would have laughed......
Camilla looks like she's been smoking packs a day since she was 5, and /or rode hard and hung up wet. That bitch has no class. And yes Phineas, I agree that Diana would be really really proud of those boys, even Harry! Gotta love Harry!
I have to agree with that. somewhere I read that once, she was out all day with the hunt (fox) came home, changed for some fancy dinner and didn't bathe.
why am I NOT surprised? ewwwwwwww

yep. I look to Charles and the skank biscuit (love that , thanks.) will have a short reign.
then William and Kate will take over. Look for ALOT of changes when THAT happens!

Diana's death stunned me. I initially thought for sure this accident was a fender bender and because of the way the media hounded her, as usual they were over reporting this and making a mountain out of a mole hill. When they announce her death, I just could not believe this. William has every right to protect Kate and keep the paparazzi far from her, because of Diana's death I don't blame him one bit.
I am the total opposite of most people. I didn't care for Diana and I don't hate Camilla. I am glad Charles is able to be with someone who makes him happy, and the fact that she isn't some beautiful young thing makes me like them together even more. It must really be love. The whole cheating part is not good, but I never got the impression that Charles and Diana loved each other.
Yep - that is my point exactly... Many "royals" including Princess Marg had to give up their life or they would be "banished" or whatever the hell the royals do to them. They did not get to live their lives as they wanted - why does he? Many royals did give up all rights to royalty for love - and his sorry ass should do the same... Cheater - Divorce - Marrying a divorced woman - I think that adds up to plenty of reasons for them to boot him & his barking bride out of the palace...

Poor Diana. Can you imagine looking up at that face as he's fucking you? Him and Camilla are far more compatible. Together they are a big mess of pimply ass ugly.
If you're not on board with this pack your things and get out!! Just kidding.
There was a short period of time when I kind of stopped caring for Diane too. I think it was in the mid 80's after Fergie came on the scene and it just seemed like Diana became a bit of an attention hound. But when I found out later that was around the time she and Charles' marital problems were kicking into high gear I understood better.
Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils.
There was a lot of changes made to the succession...while Princess Margaret may have been the first of the Royals to divorce, Princess Anne not only divorced, but remarried later that same year. The Queen/King (whomever is sitting on the throne) make any type of change they wish. Along with Prince Charles ( who will take his coronation vows stating that he will be "defender of faith"...meaning that of all citizens, and not just members of the Church of England (Defender of THE faith), but with future generations, the throne will automatically go to a girl, if she is firstborn. All the other thrones in the world have long since made it acceptable to marry commoners, divorcees, etc.It was all about religion. What was acceptable in 1703 doesn't necessarily fit in in 2012.
I went to the "Diana Remembered" Althorp exhibit that is currently in the West Edmonton Mall on Wednesday. No photography allowed, so no pictures. It was a little maudlin, but there were some childhood home movies, her old day books and diaries etc. Then a whole room of dresses, including that god awful wedding dress. It's truly terrible up close!
I spent 75 bucks on a tea cup. On top of the $25 bucks to get in There's one born every minute.
Just wanted to bump this thread. Since the birth of the new prince, she has been on my mind a lot lately.
Congrats Princess Diana on becoming a grandmother. I hope somehow she is looking down and guiding William in the right direction.
