Yes Di said that she had a feeling someone was going to "mess with the brakes" someday in an interview. Very odd. I'll see if I can find it.

Is that Lisa Marie Presley to MJ's left in the first picture? I can't remember if they were married during that time or not.

I was wondering if anyone knows how the bodyguard who survived the crash is doing these days? I remember he got a lot of flack for not protecting Diana better. However, he wasn't even her bodyguard I believe, correct? He was Dodi's, and Dodi told him to stay away from Diana, she wasn't his concern. Didn't he also jump into the car after they were already taking off? They weren't even going to take him.

It's beautiful! What a sweet surprise from your mom! The choker looks especially gorgeous in the second photo where you are wearing the black dress. The simplicity of that dress and its neckline really set it off!

Thank you so much. Yes it looks very good with the tight black dress; almost like her in the picture. I love it so much I'd sleep in it if I could. lol

Her clothing, wedding dress, etc are here at the Mall of America - I have to get out to see it. I think its about 25 bucks. Its been here since Feb and is done sometime in June.

If I get out there, I will report back. There is supposed to be some candid home movies as well

I'm jealous! Not about Diana's stuff, but because I would love to go to the Mall of America. I was definitely an 80's teenager and I love malls and that one must be amazing. All of the malls close to me suck.

Still my style icon, and still missed.....and although I am a huge follower of William and Harry, and of course Kate, no one replaces Diana.....my boyfriend bought me a sterling silver replica of Diana/Kate's engagement ring and people comment on it every single time I wear it.....

GGRRRRR ...I get so damn annoyed when I hear people saying "Kate Middleton's ring" ... its Princess Diana Sapphire ring.... in order for it to be Kate's ring, it had to be Di's first.

Oh Mammy, The MOA is pretty great but can be quite overwhelming! I grew up close to there and have been there quite a bit. Still is my favorite place to go shopping as it has about everything you could want under one roof (except for a TOPSHOP and ZARA of course). Camp Snoopy (the amusement park) was my favorite as a kid and still is quite awesome however they've changed it to Nickolodeon Universe now, which I personally don't understand as the creator of Peanuts was from Minneapolis... Anyways, I think it is definitely worth checking out as an Americana Experience!

    Mammy, you would love it.

I was a teen in the 80s also and it is why malls are still so appealing to me too!

I go to MOA often, but never on the weekends. Way too many people

I don't like crowds either, so weekends would definitely be out. I wonder if the board has a mall thread to gush about malls without hijacking another thread?

I love the MOA I go there all the time, but like Lisa, I avoid it on the weekends. If have to go on a weekend I either get there right when it opens or later, like within an hour of closing time.

I am so damn jealous of how sophisticated & how much of a lady she was. Very personable too. As you can see in the video I posted, all the kids come just running to her.

Do you think she would have aged gracefully or been obsessed with staying young looking with botox, fish lips, and liposuction? I don't mean that in a disrespectful way at all, but she always seemed self conscience to me.

Radiojane, I am pleased that you made taking me to the Mall of America part of your itinerary for vacation. When should I start packing? lol

I always loved Diana and always will....what a huge loss her death was. IMO, she would have aged gracefully- she was always beautiful and stylish, however the main focus of her life was her sons and doing good for others in the world. I don't think she would have forsaken who she was just trying to pursue the fountain of youth.....doesn't seem like her personality at all. JMO.

I didn't mean to insinuate that you were guilty for the thread hijack. I started it by talking about being jealous of you going to the MOA. I'll have to love the place from afar. I wouldn't get on an airplane if my life depended on it and I'm too antsy for that long of a car trip. We went to Kansas in 2004 and it took over twelve hours one way to get there. After that trip, I decided if I can't get somewhere in three hours or less then fuck it, I don't need to see it. Just me, hubby, and son went and my son did really well for such a long trip. My husband said he wished he had packed some shit to keep me occupied because I got on his nerves way worse than our son. I thought that was funny until I realized he was serious. He bought me some sleeping pills for the trip home.

    RIP Diana

Me too!! I always loved and admired her from the time the engagement was announced until her untimely death. I am so happy to see that her boys really took what she taught them to heart. They seem so much more like her.

I am with you on the planes... I fly, but when I do my dr has to prescribe me Ativan. Its the ONLY thing that gets me through. Its funny though because when I was in the Navy, I flew just about monthly. Must be my age catching up with me!

This man, Dr. Hasnat Khan, was supposedly the one true love of Diana's life. She was said to be heartbroken when he decided he did not want to be in the celebrity spotlight and broke off their relationship. He married someone else and left London.

He was handsome and I'd never heard anything about him. I never really paid much attention to Diana. Charles is extremely unattractive and so was Dodi and the Hewitt guy.

Apparently, she REALLY loved him- he's a REAL guy (an accomplished cardiologist with an intense love of medicine) and did not want to give that up. He was so different....not royalty, not a polo player, not a playboy....in the end, his desire to practice medicine and live a normal life won out over Diana.

I can't really blame the guy for not wanting to live his life in a fishbowl, but that's sad for Diana. She sure didn't have very good luck with men.

Here's a fantastic article about the last few years of Diana's life....an excellent read:

Dr. Hasnat Khan, divorced after an 18 month marriage, is now living and working in London once again. Good on him that unlike James Hewitt, he never sought the riches and publicity he would have gained by writing a tell all book about his relationship with Diana.
