Phoenix police spokesman Ruben Gonzales says the man was taken into custody at a house about three to four miles from South Mountain Community College.
Gonzales didn't identify the man, but called him a possible suspect.
A witness told The Associated Press that the shooter had been fighting with another man in a computer building on the campus just before the shooting began.

I used to live right down the street from the college..... I doesn't surprise me at all about the shooting.....that area is so gang infested it's a wonder that it didn't happen sooner. We call it the ghetto college because the area the school is so bad and run down. I do feel for the innocent victims,..... just one of those "wrong place, wrong time" situations

another note: they also arrested the suspect's mother, father, brother and two other people were arrested also because of interfering with the investigation.

    Robert Stanley Craft

Updated: 11:28 AM- A 44-year-old man is charged with six felonies and eight misdemeanors after he allegedly tried to attack his stepson Saturday using a chainsaw and Weedeater, and later tried to run over his wife.
Charges filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court say the mayhem began at the couple's home near 800 East and Stratford Avenue when Robert Craft slapped his 11-year-old daughter across the face.
Craft's wife's adult son then punched Craft in the face to defend the girl. Craft responded by allegedly grabbing a chainsaw to attack, but when he could not get it to start, he allegedly threw it aside and picked up a Weedeater.
He could not start that tool either.
Craft then allegedly threw the Weedeater aside and began saying, "You're dead. You're all dead."
The adult stepson left the home with the 11-year-old girl and two other children, all of whom witnessed the fracas.
The wife reported that Craft continued raging after the children left the home, and he began damaging the home with a wooden statue, according to charges. As he finally left, his wife tried to follow.
Then Craft allegedly drove up onto the sidewalk toward his wife, but she was able to move out of the way. He turned his vehicle around and again drove up onto the sidewalk toward her, according to the court documents. The second time, she had to enter her neighbor's gate to avoid being hit by the car.
Craft was booked into jail Saturday on suspicion of 14 crimes, ranging from aggravated assault to domestic violence in the presence of children.

    Penis Pump Judge

The Foot rubbing baliff, reminded me of this one. Go Oklahoma!
Judge serving indecent exposure term released

    Donald Thompson

CHEYENNE -- A former Creek County judge convicted of indecent exposure nearly two years ago has been released from prison.

Prison officials say 61-year-old Donald Thompson was released Tuesday from the Roger Mills County Jail in Cheyenne, where he had been staying for several months in a bed contracted by the Department of Corrections.

Thompson was accused of using a penis pump during four trials between 2002 and 2003. His former court reporter testified during his trial in 2006 that she saw Thompson expose himself during trials at least 15 times.

He was convicted in June 2006 of four counts of indecent exposure, sentenced to four consecutive one-year prison terms and fined $40,000.

The married father of three grown children, Thompson maintained the penis pump was given to him as a gag gift, and he denied ever using it during trials. By Associated Press

Thompson’s convictions upheld by appeals court

    REJECTED
Donald Thompson: The former judge, who was convicted of indecent exposure for his conduct during trials, had argued that the prosecution used illegally obtained evidence, among other trial errors. The appeals court ruled against him on each allegation.

By BARBARA HOBEROCK World Capitol Bureau
    9/28/2007

OKLAHOMA CITY — Former Creek County District Judge Donald D. Thompson lost his appeal of his criminal convictions Thursday.

Thompson was convicted of four counts of indecent exposure and was ordered to serve four, consecutive, one-year sentences. Prosecutors alleged that he used a penis pump while presiding over trials.

In his appeal, Thompson alleged seven errors at his trial, including the use of illegally obtained evidence, improper jurors, violation of the hearsay rule and admission of improper evidence.

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals said in its unanimous opinion, “After thorough consideration of these propositions and the entire record before us on appeal including the original record, transcripts and briefs of the parties, we have determined that neither reversal nor modification is warranted under the law and evidence.”

Thompson’s attorney, Clark Brewster of Tulsa, said that although it is never surprising to see an appeals court uphold a lower court’s decisions, he was disappointed by the ruling.

He said he had thought Thompson had a good chance with his appeal based on an improper summary of tapes given to the jury. The summary was never introduced as

    evidence, Brewster said.

In addition, the prosecution altered the penis pump to make it work when it was presented as evidence, he said.

The court noted: “Any alteration to it was done by an OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation) chemist and fully explained to the jury. The alteration did not destroy the pump or make it unworkable.”

Richard Smothermon, the district attorney for Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, prosecuted the case.

“We expected the case to be affirmed on appeal,” Smothermon said. “The evidence was overwhelming. The case was tried cleanly.

“My hope now is that Creek County, the victims in this case, will finally be able to put this behind them because this ends an ugly chapter in our history.”

Thompson retired from the bench pending an investigation of the allegations.

The former judge is also challenging a decision by the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System to withhold his benefits following his felony convictions. That challenge will wait until he can appear in person before a hearing officer presiding over his appeal.

Thompson’s gross monthly benefit from the Uniform Retirement System for Justices and Judges was $7,789 at the time of the forfeiture.

The Pardon and Parole Board has twice denied his request for leniency.

Brewster said Thompson is to be released next spring.

“We are going to do all we can for him, given the circumstances, and will continue to be zealous advocates on his behalf, I assure you,” he said.

Brewster pointed out that Thompson was a judge for 24 years.

Two court employees told investigators that they saw Thompson attach the suction device to his penis, while five jurors reported hearing whooshing sounds, which they thought were coming from either a bicycle pump, blood pressure cuff, or an air cushion on the judge's chair. After a search of Thompson's former courtroom and chambers yielded items that tested positive for seminal fluid, investigators secured a search warrant to obtain a DNA sample from the ex-jurist. Thompson's demise was triggered by a complaint filed against him by the Oklahoma Attorney General, who sought to oust the jurist for a variety of illicit behavior. Along with using the penis pump, Thompson also allegedly shaved and oiled his private parts, according to accounts given to state investigators by court employees.

    Men, do the dishes.

FORT WORTH, Texas - A 20-year-old woman faces an aggravated assault charge after she bit her boyfriend, broke a picture frame across his face and swung at him with a sword during an argument about him not doing the dishes, police said.

The woman was arrested Thursday afternoon at the couple's apartment, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported on its Web site.

The 21-year-old man told police that he became involved in an argument because the woman was upset that the dishes were not clean. Police Lt. Paul Henderson said the woman told the man to leave the apartment, but he refused.

Henderson said the woman then tried to physically remove the man. During the ensuing struggle, the woman bit the man's right shoulder and broke a picture frame across his face, causing visible cuts, Henderson said.

The woman then grabbed an approximately 2-foot sword and swung it at him, but missed, police said.

The woman was released from a Mansfield jail after posting a $10,000 bond, jail officials said.

Henderson said the man and woman had lived together for four months.
