I had read that James had made alot of recodings on tape of him just goofing off and reciting words from books and such. Is this stuff available to listen too. Also whatever happen to his drawings and paintings. Im surprised some nut fan hasnt tried to dig his body up and steal it. Also is there any authentic autographed pics of him that can still be bought I would love to buy one

I watched Rebel Without a Cause last night, but I wanted to read my book about Howard Hughes at the same time. So I put the DVD on to where it would play the commentary that some of the older movies have. Anyway - learned that the Masion in Rebel Without A Cause actually belonged to J Paul Getty. This is the same mansion that was used in Sunset Boulevard. It was getting ready to be torn down and had been vacant for some time - The scene where they are playing around and in the pool is the same one that William Holden died in after Norma Desmond shot him. Thought it was kinda cool.
well now its the "harbor" building and is the home of lausd district interim program.that area is called hancock park and whats wierd to me is why would some wealthy guy want a mansion on the corner of a busy street,i mean wilshire even in the early 20s was a busy street.anyways the building is on wilshire and crenshaw,actully where crenshaw ends if your heading north.

It's a good book tho was nice to read about James from someone who actually knew him before stardom and the whole 'rebel' persona came about. I read it all the way through til 4 am I haveto admit. I couldn't put it down.
I watched a documentry a about a year ago.. shes very evasive as to why they split.. growing apart was HER reason

Are those purported death photographs of Dean taken at the sight of his crash really true? Were they ever verified by anyone or destroyed?
Not enough detail for me! It was a good book though and I felt as though they really connected and I will forever believe she was the most important lady in his life. Call me crazy, but I'm not a big fan of Pier Angeli.
Anyone read Bill Bast's book? I'm curious about how well "into" Jimmy he gets. I really love the movie he scripted and I understand it was taken from his "rated PG" version of this book he penned in the 60's.

Cheers to you Mrs. James Dean!I became a James Dean out of pure curiosity. The more I read about him the more I wanted to know. He was an interesting person and there is something about him that is unexplainable.
There are only a few death pictures of Jimmy being carrying into the abulance on the gurney. Supposedly, there were some pictures taken of James Dean at the scene with him in his car dead. But again, supposedly those pictures got destroyed. Who knows? His death was tragic so young and so much promise. Also the fact that back then they found him guilty for causing the accident for speeding. Today, it has been challenged or even proven that he was not speeding and it was not his fault.
Anyway, as you guys can see by name handle I'm a huge Jimmy fan.

I'm one of the posters who said he was over rated. Its not that I'm a "non-fan," nor am I dissing him or cutting him down. I think he had a terrific talent and was extremely good looking. I just don't think that he did enough to make him the god that some people think him to be. I think he definately had the capability of being one of the greats, unfortunately, he died too young to achieve anything that would make him worthy, in my opinion, of such admiration.
I totally understand what you are saying. I feel the same way about about other celebs who died so young and are immortalized. However, the fact that he reached this cultural icon like status without being well known and with only 3 films, I think it's amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I do wonder what would have become of him had he lived. Would we be talking about him right now? Who knows. For me, the admiration I have for him that had so much talent and it shines in the 3 movies he made. Also, in many ways he was different than the typical movie stars from that era. I think he represents the rebellious youth of his era. The more I read about his life and how he grew up I could relate in some ways regardless of how long ago it was that he had lived. Again, I cannot put it into words. I think the fascination with most people regarding James Dean is simply wondering, what could have been?

I think its amazing too the status he achieved after only a few films. It would have been fantastic to see what he could have done had he lived longer. Some people are just born to be in movies, and I think Dean was one of those people. Those who knew him said he had the "it" factor and just a pull about himself that made people just want to look at him and be around him. I think its cool that people are fascinated enough by him to keep his legacy alive for so long.
