I don't know if you should be happy or sad about that!! LOL I guess a little of both?! Interesting find if it's true about that pic !!

Oh, and something I was thinking of the other day .. is it "odd" that I am 30 years old and still watch "Stand by Me" and think River was a cutie? I mean, I was 10 when I first saw that movie and had a crush on him then .. and I still watch his movies when he was young and think what a hottie!! LOL Just don't want people thinking I have any weird Pedo tendancies!! LMAO!! I know I am not the only one who thinks this way, just thought it was funny!! Okay, I'll shut up now!!

I just watched Sneakers (one of all time favorite movies, even though I hate Robert Redford something awful) and I hadn't ever watched the "making of" bonus feature (those often bore me to tears.) I was surprised to see a River interview. It actually made me sad. I was a bit verklempt. What a freakin waste.

His sister Summer is so gorgeous. She hasn't been in much. I do think it's sweet that she fell in love with her bro's buddy Casey. Did she really date several girls before that?

Oh, I know, I know. I think that exact same thing. I think it is ok since we were in love with him back in the day, when we were that age, too. He is part of our memories, part of who we are. I don't think this way about anyone else that age, but I think that with him, it is ok. And I think he was gorgeous until the day he died, too.

This post is a bump for you, River love!! He deserves to be on top. Oh yeah, and the picture he carried around was of me. It just was, ok??

Sneakers is one of all time favorite movies. This is one I'd love to see a remake of, to see what they could do with today's technology. I know they didn't use all the newest tech even then, but the ways they could find to get by what others would be using would be so great. Of course, it couldn't be the same writers seeing as it took them over ten years to write the original.

I liked the movie Sneakers, but it wasn't my favorite River movie .. but it would be interesting to see a remake and how they would work that ..

I think for me the older River movies are my favorite because they are what first made me notice him .. Stand by Me and Explorers, I watched over and over at my friends house for sleepovers, etc .. we both crushed on him back then .. then I made it a point to see every movie that he ever did, but I have to say, I have yet to see Silent Tongue .. if it's even out anywhere .. oh well!!

Yeah River wasn't a huge part of Sneakers & for a long time I forgot he was in it. I am about to get Explorers for my son. I think he'd like it a lot.

I own "Silent Tongue". While I was/am a huge River fan, that movie was a waste of a good $5.00. Sorry. River was great, but the movie was stupid.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

I really have no desire to see it, even though River was in it .. I had only heard about after he died!! Thanks for telling me that it was a waste .. saves me money!! I am happy with the memories and good movies I do have of his ..

And it also helps being a fan of Joaquin as well ... I liked him before I knew he was Rivers brother .. I think "Space Camp" was the first movie I saw him in ..

I'm not a Joaquin fan at all, so I'm not sure. Was "Space Camp" before or after "Parenthood"? I think "Parenthood" was the first movie I saw him in.

Space Camp came before .. I say this because he looks much younger than he did in Parenthood .. but I have always thought both the Phoenix boys were good looking, even at young ages .. I wonder what River would look like now as a man of almost 40!! Joaquin looks mighty fine though!!

I know, I wonder what he would have looked like, too. I have a feeling I would think he was gorgeous no matter what age he was, just because I loved him so much as a person. I was watching a video of River's band on youtube, and he gives a shout out to his dad for his 44th birthday. I couldn't help but think that HE would be coming up on that age shortly himself, had he lived. That is just crazy, crazy to think about. As disgustingly cliche as it sounds, time just goes by way too fast, and so much happens in a short period of time(in the big scheme of things).

I feel old everytime I think of how old River would be now. I remember I was only 12 when he was 18, and it seemed like I would NEVER be able to catch up to him. I felt like I would be a child forever, always too young for him.

I'm having a hard time finding A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. It used to be on Amazon. Last time I looked, I think there was one used copy. Totally my fault for not getting it when it was readily available.

I was just thinking about his guest appearance on Family Ties. That was pretty funny.

I haven't seen that Jimmy Reardon movie in long time. I think I remember seeing River on Family Ties. River was on some show called Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, wasn't he? I don't think that show was on very long. Think it was like the early 80's

I'm curious as to what sort of education River Phoenix had. He was always so well-read and intelligent in his interviews. Self-taught perhaps?

He was great. A Virgo 1 like me. i liked him in Dogfight with Lily Taylor. Not one of his most well know films but really good. I just watched My Own Private Idaho after a long time. Still good although I remember seeing it in the theatres many moons ago and of the bunch of us that went I was the only one who liked it.
His death was such a shocker.

I own the Jimmy Reardon movie on VHS .. hahahaha .. got it a long time ago, and it's not one of my favorite movies of his either .. Dogfight, I love!!

I do remember him being on Family Ties for the episode .. and yeah, he was on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers when he was very young, first starting out .. I never watched the show, but I have seen clips and episodes from various websites ..

And yes, River was very well-spoken and he seemed very intelligent and in tune with his emotions, etc .. just from interviews and even the characters he played (though I know they were just characters) I like to think they were all a little bit of River !!

I love looking at pictures of him!! Back when (and secretly still now) I always said I would name my son (or daughter) after him .. I have outgrown the name, but I always said I would use the name River as a middle name, then I switched it to Jude .. and my daughter would be called Rio .. hahahaha .. my mom actually wants a granddaughter named Rio .. so who knows .. but LSF, I think a puppy named River would be perfect! Hope the hubby lets you!!

Yeah, Keri Russell .. which is one reason I opted not to name my son River .. I hate when celebs take my ideas!! Hahahaha .. plus, though I liked her on Felicity, I despise her on everything else!! But River is a lovely name though .. I do like Jude too which I would still say I took from him

Hahahaha .. I did too .. I used to be so jealous of her when she was on Mickey Mouse Club .. hahahaha .. but then I just got over that and she just ruined a lot for me .. LOL but Felicity was a great show ..

Did she ever say why she named her son River? Was is after our sweet River or did she just like the name? Although River Russell (whatever her married name is) does sound good .. still ruins it for me!!

^^ I have no doubts it was .. Honestly, how many people named "River" were there before he became famous?? Other than "Rivers" Cuomo from Weezer .. so I think when you hear the name, its most likely after him!! And I hoped to somehow keep his name or memory alive .. I also feel the same way about the name James .. or Dean .. LOL

In the movie The Thing Called Love, at the end who did Samantha Mathis end up with? River wanted her and so did Dermit Mulroney, i wanted her to stay with River's character.

I'm pretty sure "The Thing Called Love" was the last movie released while he was still alive. "Silent Tongue" (awful movie) was released a year or so later. The movie he was filming when he died (Dark Blood) has never been released.

I know .. I get sad too .. I always get weepy at the end of Stand By Me .. when his character, Chris, says to Gordie "Not if I see you first .." and he turns to walk away .. and then just fades away .. gets me everytime because you know the tragic ending of River .. oh, and Running on Empty does it to me too when he has to say goodbye to Lorna (Martha Plimpton) and starts to cry .. I like the mushy stuff .. what can I say!! LOL
