You know, I'm a member of several forums, and as I'm saluting the ban of Kaylie with my coffee this morning, it hit me. Most all of the trolls I've come across are River Phoenix fans (!?!) Can you call a troll a "fan"? Anyway, they pretty much all say the same thing, "River got me doing drugs. I want to die like River." Do y'all think there's a secret society out there or something?

I'm sorry SheBoss, I just wanted her to tell me how River got her using drugs. I was on As the World Turns message board yesterday, I read some old post about that Micheal David Morrison guy, anyway I think she had posted on there too. There was the same kind of messages about how River deserved to die and how she wanted to od. Just the same stuff that was on here. Had to be the same person. And I have read that same stuff on Imdb.

Oh good .. Kaylie was annoying!!

I just wanted to say also about the "trolls" being River fans or those who mainly want to pick on River fans .. I have noticed on other forums, and on other sites that seems to be the case .. I know that Find a Grave had to shut off the personal messages to be left for him because one person was posting some stuff to get a rise out of people, and it worked .. just funny how dull some peoples lives must be to go through that much trouble.. hahaha .. anyways, I have always been a huge River fan and continue to do so .. I have most of his movies and enjoy them all!! I do miss him mainly because he could have done so many more good movies but we will never know!!

OH, NO, NO! Please don't think I was fussing, because I wasn't! I love your posts as they are so insightful. We're lucky on the board because we have a great group of people with very few (if any) trolls. The Mods do a great job here, don't you think? I was more venting about this Kaylie person and how most of the nutjobs I've seen from all forums seem to stem from River Phoenix in some way. Eerie, isn't it?

See, Dyglem has seen it, too. I was starting to think it was just me and maybe whackos were following me...

Maybe she justs gets around. The reason I think this is b/c there aren't a zillion RP sites around. Probably one or two idiots who get their jollies trying to muddy someone's memory.

I know I'm new and had no part in this conversation but I've been reading and.......well, even if you weren't a fan of River, isn't it obvious that he was just a very young man having a good time and stumbled into a God-awful situation by accident. I mean, he really had a horrible death. I would feel bad for anyone that happened to. I mentioned on another post that my ex died of an overdose 2 years ago and it was horrible. I wasn't with him anymore but still, it ripped my heart out of me to know that he died that way and he didn't even suffer. He just went to sleep and didn't wake up. I cannot imagine how awful it must've been for River and how scared he must've been in his last moments. Imagine how it must've felt for his siblings too to have to witness their brother die that way. It was the definition of tragedy. He was a really talented young man with all the opportunity in the world out ahead of him and one mistake took him out of the world. I don't see how anyone could resent someone who died in such a way for anything. Especially just because they weren't a fan. Big Whoo.....if you didn't like him, you didn't like him but still he was a person and he died a horrible death that anyone with a heart should be able to sympathize with.

Welcome to the Forums!! I totally agree with what you said! It was still an awful way to die and I am sure he did suffer in his last moments! Regardless of if you know someone or not, just thinking about tragic endings for people gets to me too!

Welcome to the boards! Glad you're here! Yes, it's really sad no matter how you look at it. Actually, River had a really sad life in general, so, to me, that makes his death even worse. Sorry about your ex, BTW...

    River's drug problem

Yeah, you're right I had always heard he was this earthy vegie healthy type and was stunned to learn he took drugs. Actually I think it was something he had recently started? I had this thought that because his body was so pure maybe and then he starts putting drugs into it and it rebelled. Maybe?

She later said he had been on drugs at the time but others around him said he was clean at that point. He begged the director to save the love scenes until the last shoot which he did. It was after that that he went to the Viper room.
Judy would be difficult no doubt but I seriously would look into the quote. She is intense, tough and very professional.

Also she is very closed when it comes to the media and a quote like that seems out of character even for her tough exterior.

River may have been overwrought, drugs can do that, to cry at being called fratboy or having to cope with her being unpleasant! She isnt American so I dont think "Fratboy" would be her choice of insult, Australians use names like, dickhead, bastard, wanker etc to insult and be unpleasant

She has children of her own only a little younger than River and I think she commented on his state of mind but she didnt say "He deserved to die" (Heaven forbid!)

I will try and find her exact wording

This is interesting, while trying to find doubted Judy Davis so called quote, I have found a site on the films of River and a bio which states that Judy and River that were NOT having problems , rather...it was Judy and the Director George Sluizer who were in conflict and that River(God bless him) was often in the mediators role.

So it could make be that Mr Sluizer has an agenda here ( reason to say Judy said vile things about River! )

IMO just like to get to the facts its fun!

Ah the human race we are all so lovely at times!

You're exactly right... That's what I always remembered hearing about him. I don't know if it's true but I heard his drug use began when he starred in My Own Private Idaho. An actor that got into his role too much.

Thanks for the welcome here's. I hate to hear about anyone dying in a sad way. My God.....I was reading the local paper last night and a girl I know well was in there for a murder that was committed in LaFollette last year. That really freaked me out. First it was ruled a suicide but everyone knew that couldn't be right. I mean really....a guy pulls his pants down and ties himself to a tree at the waist and throat.......it never made sense to me. Anyway, what the heck is the world coming to. There have been so many of my friends overdose and die in car wrecks from being high....all of them young....I mean, if I wanted to really get technical, I could say I have not just the one dead ex but FIVE dead exes and, no.......I'm not the grim reaper........I hope not anyway. lol
It's just that there's nothing here for people to do so they get drunk and high. People who make snide comments about it don't realize what losing a young person does to the family members of the one who died. It destroys a lot of people. I can sympathize with River's family for what they family must've gone through. I guess Chris Farley's family too. That was horrible as well. It's really heart breaking.

hi guys - this is a really good thread -

river was about the same age as me - i was shocked when he died too because i thought i remembered reading how healthy he was with his diet, lifestyle, etc. - but it really can happen to anyone - just a result of stupid decisions -i think we've all done stupid things, it just seems that some people get "caught" in the most tragic way.

    i really like this forum!

'It' wasn't posting stuff about River Phoenix on FAG to get a rise-they had to turn the flowers off because 'it' was sending emails to everyone who left a flower telling them how 'it' wanted to OD like River, etc etc. Started again with Brad Renfro's flowers. Pretty sure it was this Kaylie troll-same style of typing, spelling, etc.

I hate to say so but, I'm sure that he was at least part of the time. He probably would have been ok with the drugs he did if he hadn't mixed the meth into the midst of it. When the panic set in his heart probably began to beat that much faster and thus his stating that he couldn't breath. He probably began to have a panic attack which with the drugs he'd ingested probably escalated into a full scale heart attack. He probably did lose consciousness during the seizures but, he definately knew that he might be dying. Take it from me.....I almost had the same wonderful experience once in my wilder days. It was definately not fun. Crystal meth is not a drug to play with.

Yeah, I know that all too well. I've had lots of friends go in various different od fashion from dying in their sleep, choking on vomit, car crashes, to even go so far as to get high and jump in front of a mack truck. I take pain meds everyday for my fibro but if it isn't necessary, leave it alone.....if you're that bored, read a book or something right?

Honestly, it's hard but you learn to accept that people bring their own fates about. I know that they were each and every one dear to me but one of them was my sons father. Thank God I don't have to say he overdosed but, he did get drunk and crash into a tree killing himself and two of our friends. Not to mention leaving me behind 2 months pregnant. That was the one that really hurt. After that sort of thing, you pretty much learn to accept that bad things are gonna happen. You may as well just be prepared for it. It still doesn't make it any less of a shock when you lose someone else close to you. You just learn to accept that it was their own choice. People know the risks they're taking when they choose to do whatever it is that might bring about their death. They just never expect to really die.

I think Rivers was probably gay... anybody else think that? doesn't matter of course but he died so young that he never got a chance to really be who he was. Based on his performances and just the way he was in general I sensed he might have been gay.

Nah, I don't think he was gay. I think he was just really sexually mixed-up. He DID lose his virginity at the age of 4. His whacko parents were in the cult "Children of God". They basically were the upstart of David Koresh's cult. His life story is really sad, but interesting at the same time. It's a really good read.

well not to open a can of worms here but me thinking he was gay doesn't mean I thought he was sexually mixed up... I just mean as a person he appeared to have some gay characteristics that he would have been born with. Anyway, all speculation... just wondering what you guys thought.

I'm not saying you did . What kind of characteristics do you mean (I don't want to open that can either), but I'm trying to think back and I can't come up with anything he said or did that would make me think "gay". Hot, yes, Gay, no.

He had that same way about him as that actor Edward Furlong... the way he spoke, mannerisms just had a male/female quality about it. Not so much in "Stand by Me" but in his later movies it became more apparent (to me anyway). "I love you to death" is the best example I can think of... he had this crush on Tracey Ullman's character and it wasn't at all believable to me, then again it was Tracey Ullman, maybe not the best example.

    Hmmm...

Let me think on that a while. I'll just have to use this as a good reason to watch all the old River movies - Thanks, Jason!

Do you know something about Edward Furlong that I don't?

Do you know something about Edward Furlong that I don't?
    Nah, just speculating.

Oh, go ahead and make something up. That's what the press does. We need some new rumors around here...

I know what you're saying about them being a bit effeminate; some would call it emo.

I would be a little worried about him becoming a predator in his later years (or even his younger ones) due to what happened at such a young age.

You know that kaylie chick sent me a pm. Something about River burning in Hell. Interesting that she was so committed to the idea that River had something to do with her addiction. Oh well time moves on.

River didnt strike me as gay. keanu reeves and Eddie Furlong both do as does the little dude from lord of the rings Eligah Wood.

I think you think River was gay because of that movie he made with Keneau Reeves called Private Idaho Potato. He played a gay dude in that I think.
One his last roles I beleives.

actually I've never seen it, I think he was gay based on my own observations actually. As I mentioned, the movie "I love you to death" you can really see what I am talking about.

LOVE that movie! And, I might be able to see what you're seeing here - if I squint and cock my head 41.6 degrees to the left.
