Here in Alberta we have a few choice killers.Mark Twitchell the "Dexter" killer as he was dubbed by the press.Lured men on plenty of fish to a garage and acted out a screenplay he had written. Here is the wiki on him.

Hi all - I'm a lurker, member since last year. I was fascinated that there was NOTHING on Google about this, so, after firing off a short PM to duster, my curiosity made me pay for a 24-hour subscription to the Toronto Star's archives. (I'm an American who attended York University for a year, so I'm a bit of a Canadaphile.) Took me FOREVER, but I finally found the case. The murders were committed on April 12, 1985, when Jason was 14. I screen-saved many of the interesting bits. His father was a semi-celebrity who'd written a book on "How to Win at Casino Gambling." If anyone is interested, I would be glad to share what I've found here - Google News brings up some articles on the sentencing as well.
The only thing I'm nervous about is revealing the names, because he's protected under the Young Offenders Act...I know this board isn't one for protecting murderers, but for some reason I feel odd and need an okay before I put it all out there! (Then again, the Richardson girl who's also protected by YOA has her first name all over American media because it was so recent...)
Montana
Omfg - the STAR!?!? Awful paper and our biggest rival. Now, if you'd spent your money on the Sun's archive, you would've seen my comprehansive, well-researched, well-written adn thoroughly fascinating articles.
(Btw, I am TOTALLY kidding. The Star was a wee bit late off the mark in this case, but their coverage was fine.)
Welcome to the board. Montana! Have a Tim Horton's coffee and a Timbit.
Haha! Don't think I didn't try! The Sun's archives page is complicated! With the Star, you can search the entire archives. The Sun makes you put in a request and has all these specifications. Boooo! http://www.torontosun.com/archives-services It's much less easier to fly under the radar at the Star rather than writing and saying, "I'm creepy, I like murder, send me this!" And there's never any good details in newspaper reports.
Attached is a page I found (don't sue me...) with a photo of them taking out "a body." And thank you muchly, pwem! Duster, what do you think about what happened in this case? The Crown didn't ask for it to be sent to adult court, and then the judge didn't buy insanity and he got 3 years, and the Crown flipped out?
I pictured Canadian murderers as being more polite than American murderers; you know; like saying "Excuse me" or "Pardon me"; and the like; and taking murder to a whole new level of socialabilty over Mexican murderers.
Perhaps I have thought wrongly.
A faulty hypothesis forming:
A German scientist using Iranian physics and French mathematics.
The thing I remember most about it is the kid's defence lawyer, John Hamitlon during a lunch break showing me the crime scene photos as a joke. He was a pretty funny guy (he's now a judge) but those shots were incredibly gross.
Well, Jason got out of the good old Syl Apps in 1989 and does live out west. He said he was sick and tired of his way of life and his father being a professional gambler! He had a great life and the family was verrrrry well off so it really does not make any sense at all but, he did it!!! He said his sister was sitting at her desk with the headphones on when he killed his mother and she jumped up when she heard the loud bang and that is when he got her. I don't know how much of it is the truth but, he did not show any kind of feelings when he talked about it with me. I just hope he got the help he needed. After all....he is a free man right now but his record is still active with the RCMP but just not public record.
The murder of Christine Jessop in Ontario has always bothered me. I think about it now and then, and wonder who the killer was, and wish it hadn't been dropped like a hot potato when Guy Paul Morin was convicted and later exonerated. She's still dead, the case isn't over, and yet it is. When you type her name into Google, mostly what comes up is Guy Paul Morin. This annoys me to no end.

Then there is the murder of Sadie Mae Rogers.
I grew up in Amherst, Nova Scotia. A small town, maybe 10,000 people. When I was six years old, in 1981, an elderly lady was asleep in her bed when someone or someones entered her home and entered her bedroom. She was stabbed more than 50 times with multiple weapons (a butcher knife, a smaller knife, and what they think was a BBQ fork). Nothing was stolen. Nothing disturbed. Her pension check was still in her mailbox the day her body was found. It was horrible and it terrified me for years.
No one was ever arrested, there were never any real leads.

Now I live in the murder capital of Canada. On my last birthday, they pulled dismembered body parts out of the dumpster behind my office. Last month a man was shot to death in a gang shooting in the restaurant next door to my office building. Last year two kids attacked a Pizza Hotline employee with an axe and killed him. Winnipeg averages two murders per day in the summer months. It's nothing like Nova Scotia at all.
But none of this disturbs me like poor old Sadie. A nice lady asleep in her home, safe in her bed. She never did a thing to hurt anyone. She was as defenseless as a baby.
