Death Picks a Holiday - Who died on a holiday?

    Heres a pop quiz--

How many actors/actresses died on a holiday? I know Houdini died on Halloween. Anyone else take a dive on a holiday?

    Happy Halloween!

BTW--Steve Allen missed Halloween by one day (He died Oct 30)

    Hmmm...
I wonder what happened to the gifts, if any, they got.
They probably didn't need much being rich and famous.
It would still be a bummer to get a calander and not be able to use it!

Dean Martin (born Dino Paul Crocetti, June 7, 1917December 25, 1995) was an American singer, film actor, and comedian. He was one of the most famous music artists in the 1950s and 1960s. His hit singles included the songs "Memories Are Made Of This", "That's Amore", "Everybody Loves Somebody", "Mambo Italiano", "Sway", "Volare" and "Ain't That a Kick in the Head". He was the only star to be a major hit in all four major areas of show business: concert stage, recordings, motion pictures, and television.

    Holiday Deaths

OK so we just got done with Christmas, right?
Which means that a lot of us celebrate by exchanging gifts.
And since death doesn't take a holiday, there are people who die, one way or another either just before or after Christmas within December.
And just about everytime I read about these deaths, I can't help but think of the gifts.
Like what happens to them. If it's before Xmas: Will the surviving family return them.
Or it it's afterwards: He/she didn't have much time to enjoy them.
Am I alone in this or do others think similar things?

I thought about this too. If I bought a gift for a family member or friend and they died I don't think I'd have the heart to return it. I would probably end up keeping it.... I don't know why. It would probably end up being something special to me.

Id guess, theyd donate them to charity. My cousin offed herself at the end of November. Knowing my aunt ( her mother ) who starts buying x-mas stuff the janurary following x-mas, no doubt shed already bought my dead cousins gift. I did have the notion to that day following the funeral service but I couldnt find a way to word the question in a way that would seem cold and heartless. X-mas gifts were the last thing on my aunts mind , christ her daughter had just put a bullet into her skull. My parents took the gifts they had got for her back and got their money refunded. I know that

Of course we have, LOL!!! There is a thread somewhere about a man who murdered his wife, maybe one of his kids, and terribly injured another in the 50's or 60's. The house still sits empty of people, but all their stuff was left there forever, including Christmas presents.

I will try to find the thread....

I live in MN and the last Christmas my SIL was alive, we were not able to get together due to the terrible weather. Her cancer took a sudden acute turn and she died before we could reschedule things.

My brother (her husband) gave us the gifts she had chosen for us, and they have a value that can't be explained unless you've received a posthumous gift and knew that, even while the giver was terminally ill, he/she thought of you and took the time to find something so sweet and perfect, it will always pull at your heart. I don't know what others did with the gifts FOR her--I had a beautiful pearl and jade bracelet and earrings that I gave to her daughter (my brother's stepdaughter)... She never wore them but instead had them made into part of the picture frame that holds a beautiful image of her mom, my brother's wife, and my sweet sister-in-law.

My Grandfather died Christmas morning 1999 and I know my grandma took the presents she bought back but I am not quite sure what my mom did about the gifts she bought. I always got them a resturant gift certificate so grandma got to go out to dinner on me with a friend.

I gave my fiance a nice coat for Christmas in 1995, and he died the following April. So he didn't really get much use from it, because it was kind of warm for him. II have often thought of donating it to a homeless shelter, where someone really could use it, but i've been too selfish to part with it.
