I AGREE COMPLETELY. While it doesn't personally bother me if pics are posted straight to the threads. I know there's people who have a problem in viewing them. FAD is not just about looking at death pics, some people come on here purely to read the stories and talk about how the person died, they don't neccesarily want to VIEW how they died in living colour. It's only fair to give a warning beforehand, or even better just post a link to the pics.

Anywoo, I have to say I loved the movie. I don't think that they made Daddy Dearest out to be that great though. At the beginning of the movie he went from job to job,the family even had to move in with cousins because they lost their house.

Then he had this great idea to get his kids into the show business at which he failed himself when he was younger. It showed him pushing his kids, his wife correcting him, his kids hating it all. It also showed him not wanting Selena to date Chris and her running away with him to get married and Daddy being pissed. If you have seen the movie what about him and Selena's choice of clothing? Boust-Te-CaCa anyone?

I have been to their website. What killed me is the Selena Doll. Creepy. I think that from the start Daddy wanted to make major money off of his kids. Look at all the "Great" ideas that he had, example: the restaurant for the gringos where he made is kids perform.

He saw $$$ when he first heard Selena sing. Ala Jackson 5.

Bous-Te-CaCa delamenta is what I remember!! I'm a fan of the movie, but I am a fan of semi-autobiographical moives about singers. The Buddy Holly Story and What's Love Got To Do With It are other faves.

If Shano is correct about that picture Tombstone Tourist posted being the boutique Selena herself set up, here is a video of her giving the place a tour! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SBoidw1V_M Didn't look too nice to start with...

ETA: According to this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKQCLLeRScA ), it is indeed the boutique Selena set up, Selena ETC Boutique and Salon.

    Selena

There might be a thread already about her but I have yet to find one. This girl was the mexican who was just making the musical crossover to american pop music when I think the president of her fan club shot and killed her. in Texas. They did some movie about it but since im really not into hispanic music I didnt see it. we were talking about dead rock stars over dinner last night at a resturant and this girls name came up

Scott has a great write-up about Selena on his FAD website. I believe it was Selena's father himself that was coming after Scott to remove her autopsy pic from the site. Thus ...look under the word Subpeona on his website, and not the rhyming Selena .

She was a Mexican-American singer who sang Tejano music and was indeed making a crossover to American Pop Music when she was tragically killed. The movie they made was simply called "SELENA," and Jennifer Lopez starred as Selena. It was the movie that made Jennifer a big star.

I also laugh at the Subpoena reference made my Scott!

We had a talk over dinner about rock stars that die off because of depression and drugs. I made the point that Kurt Cobain and Selena were killed by gunshot not drugs. My uncle had brought up Janis Joplin and Jerry garcia as examples. Technically Janis Joplin wasnt a heroine addict she dabbled with it but was more into Southern Comfort then anything else. If you play russian roulette with heroine youll always lose.

I remeber the film about Selena coming out but since I dont go to movies and ive never liked Tejano music I didnt bother.

Yeah, Kurt died due to gun shots now was it suicide or murder we will never know.

The movie Selena is about her life. I think it came out like 2 years after her death. I think Selena's family, specifically her dad were just and are still just trying to make money of her name and fame. That's my opinion, I think it's sad. :/

    Selena

She was an absolutely beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. Her fan club manager was stealing money, and when Selena went to a hotel to confront her, the freak shot her, then sat in a truck with the gun to her own head until the cops talked her down. Tragic. The movie was fairly good and I think J LO did a great job.

I just finished watching the movie (only like my 17th time seeing it! Yes, I have no life) but I love all of the music and JLo did do a good job.

"Anything for Selena's"... lol... the two Mexican hoods kill me! What ever happen to Chris? Didn't he get married again? I think that there was some kind of falling out with Selena's family (big shock)as well. I think that I am just going to believe the rag mags and think that she was preggo when she was killed.

Subpoena fans are pretty, well, fanatical. No offense to the ones who identified themselves as fans, but the ones who have the near-psychotic attachment to her are the ones that obsessively search the web for anything that may taint their beloved Saint Subpoena's name

With that being said, I do have some more speculation/insight and warn those that are deep fans to stop reading NOW. DO NOT read the words in green, mm'kay?

I used to live in South Texas and two different friends, one who had close ties to a reporter and one who was in the whole Tejano scene, claimed that Subpoena was actually a lesbian. She was often seen spotted at a couple of unnamed lesbian bars and "liked the young girls," according to my Tejano scene friend who swears he witnessed her cruising. Her father was the one to push her to marry Chris to keep up her wholesome image. Now the oogier part: she and Yolanda (the woman who shot and killed her) were actually lovers and that visit to "retrieve documents" was actually the good-bye f**k. Upset about being fired and then kicked out of Subpoena's life, Yolanda couldn't handle it, so killing her seemed like a good solution. Her father basically cried "lawsuit" to the newspaper and it got buried.

Now, these two friends of mine didn't know each other, but collaboratively, the whole lesbian rumor could've been true. We'll probably never know.
I had to check Wiki for something and seriously, Subpoena's entry reads like the movie plot and surprisingly, it's not locked.

About her widow Chris: when he got his now-wife pregnant, Subpoena fans were PISSED. One, they weren't married at the time and two, I think Subpoena fans seriously expected him to remain a widow and hold vigil to her for the rest of his life

WOW! Now that's some juicy stuff there!

But yuck - Subpeona doing Yolanda? Ugh...I'd go straight first!

But it all does sound sort of plausible. I don't see why S had to meet Yolanda at a hotel room JUST to get paperwork. She could have met her at a Starbucks for that!

I didn't keep up with the whole Subpeona thing. I had never heard of her when she was alive and her money-hungry father ruined it for me after she died. But I always wondered why they had to meet in a hotel room. I'm like Aries here, had no one ever heard of the US Postal Service?

Ditto, Glee! I've never heard this before ...it would be interesting if this could be dug up and investigated somehow? If you may have more info, send it to TMZ.com . Maybe, just maybe, they can dig up summore. Today's world, anything goes in entertainment news, and media outlets WILL publish it. Just like Scott did on Subpoena, and just like TMZ when it comes to Tom Cruises freaky-deeky Scientologist video. But I digress ...

And yeah, I agree too ....Yolanda? Yick. I'm not lesbian, but even if I were, I cannot possibly see what a pretty young Subpoena saw in selfish stalker Yolanda. Seems to me, Subpoena would want someone classier, kinda like Porsha DeRossi and Ellen Degeneres, maybe.

Right. I could understand too, if they hadn't asked Scott how much he had made off his Selena profile.

    i am a huge selena fan....have been since i was a kid.

The lesbian stuff....hey, to each their own...but i highly doubt that she was messing with Yolanda like that, seriously!

Anyways....Chris, her husband at the time, is not estranged from the family...actually, i think he is closer to them than ever before. He is in a band with Selena's brother, AB, Kumbia All Starz. I saw them in concert back in 05....

Very tragic...the anniversary of her death is on Monday...13 years.

Yes, her family...well her dad is making money off of her even in death. All the stuff they have out for her now are the same songs....remixed or something. Gets old.

    Subpoena:March 31,1995 It's been that long?

I was just watching the movie about Subpoena's life. And March 31 is on my mind..because i think she should be alive today, making hit song playing on the radio. but I think everybody on FAD Can aleast play one or two songs of her. Because she didn't deserve what she got.

It's hard to believe it's been 13 years already. I admit I wasn't a Selena fan when she was alive. I, like many others, only learned of who she was after she died. I've read a couple of books about Subpoena and her killer said that she has one of Subpoena's diaries that will "shock the world". Yeah right. If she had it, she would have released it by now. There are some things in the case that do still trouble me. Why did Subpoena have a suitcase at the hotel with her that day and a work permit under a different name? Or were these her killer's? Anybody know?

It's 13 years ago today that Selena was killed. Perez Hilton has a nice write-up along with a video from Selena's last performance. I have a bunch of Selena's CDs that I bought after she died. I regret that I didn't know who she was before her life was cut short. RIP Selena.

I have been to Selena's grave throughout the years (my aunt and uncle are interred at the same cemetery, Seaside Memorial in Corpus Christi) and it's changed. I have photos from 1997, before they put the big photo of her across her grave.

    Well, that makes more sense:
Marrying young w/o being pregnant (and at the beginning of her career) to a guy more feminine that she was.
The Days Inn death site. Who in their right mind would go to a hotel alone to meet a fired employee?
Yolanda Salizar's bizarre obsession and after-death behavior. She acted like she killed the love of her life out of desperation. I always thought she was in love, but can't see it being reciprocated.
Her whole transvestite look - she didn't pick that up naturally. Girl had to have been a Hag from along ago (which I doubt) or was exposed transvestites at some point.
    I'm just sayin'.....

Selena and Yolanda lovers? I don't believe that scenario. Selena could have played for the other team but surely there were better looking people available than Yolanda.

Unfortunately, she had to be murdered before most of us knew who she was.

True. I do believe that Yolanda was in love with her though. I think she was obsessed with her and things weren't going the way she'd planned......plus she'd gotten caught stealing. She just freaked out in the end. Poor Selena. I was never a fan but she didn't deserve what happened to her.
